Hi all,

Seems like honda has launch a new motorcycles few days ago.

Here is the link below:

http://www.motorcyclistonline.com/firstrides/122_1305_2014_honda_ctx700_and_ctx700n_first_look/

Any opinion on this bike? This bike seems to have have the same engine as DN-01, any idea how much will it cost is it manage to reach Singapore?

Correction, it uses the same engine as the NC700, parallel twin, not V-Twin like the DN-01, and it is rear chain driven, not shaft... I think it replaces the DN-01 though...

Past rides: XL100, CG110, Elsinore 125, CB175, CB250N, CX500, CBX400F, GL1000, CBX-6,

Present ride: DN-01, Spyder RT LTD

I have always wanted the DN-01 but because of its weight , 15litre tank and high price, I have put it behind as just a dream. Now this CTX?? hopefully it will catch on like its cousin the NCs. i myself prefer this CTX rather than NC but with the current yen rate, i believe it will still be in the range of $20k with almost a quarter of that price goes actually to the authority (for whatever reason).

If you read the report, the price is around $7500 US(S$ 9000). many of them say affordable and nice words to use to say buy , buy. but when it comes to singapore, the price will probably be in the range of $20k (import tax, coe etc, etc , etc) sheeesh

The DN-01 is a good bike, so far I only know of one original owner selling it and almost immediately taken up by another... yes, it's price is the reason why it is not saleable here... the CTX should catch on here even though it doesn't look as sharp as the DN-01... as for the former price, no choice lah, the dealer also needs to earn... FYI, the OMV for my DN-01 is already S$16K+, you can do the maths to see how much is paid to LTA and how much the dealer earns...

CTX700 is using the parallel twin engine, where else the DN-01 is using the V-twin. Is the different in type of engine used lead to the cheaper motorcycle, since CTX700 is priced at a cheaper price compare to DN-01.

Does that mean that CTX700 is less performing than DN-01, since of the parallel twin engine?

Honda has name it as CTX series, are they coming with more models with different engine displacement?

The reasons the DN-01 is more costly than the CTX 700 is the former's new type of transmission, the shaft final drive, additional front brake discs and yes, to a certain extent the V-Twin engine which is slightly more costlier to make than a parallel twin. Performance wise it is more or less the same, although the sound of a V twin is better. Maybe Honda will come out a CTX 500 series?...

Hope they will introduce CTX1000 or more, not less displacement lol.

If the displacement is 1000cc or more, then I don't think it will be a parallel twin anymore, more likely an inline 3 or 4 engine configuration... a big cc parallel twin will give you some mighty vibrations...

this isn the 'ctx series'. this is the '700 series'.

honda did a study and concluded that typically 90% of riding is between 80kmh to 140kmh. they then decided that "the perfect bike" is one that performs at its best in this region, plus at its most fuel efficient at this region.

thus was born this parallel twin 700cc engine, which is first seen on the NC700. as it is, we already see several different variants of the NC bike, all with the same engine. now they're putting into the CTX.

honda has decided this is "what we want", just choose your 'handphone cover' as it were.

so i doubt there will be a ctx1000. the whole series revolves around the parallel twin 700cc engine.

It's true: it's more fun to ride a slow bike fast than to ride a fast bike slow. Admittedly, though... It is MOST fun to ride a fast bike fast!

Seems like most of honda upcoming bike are parallel twin now.

Yea, yea yea. thats why I am keeping my CB 250 night hawk. this baby is fuel sipper. just wish its bigger like 700 (extra power) and looks like a harley. hmmmmm honda reliability. BUT i find its like so unbalanced. 1 single front disc brake

looks awkwardly similar to Yamaha TDM 900.

No lah Kmax. where got similar at all. from pictures , we can see shortie like me can happily jump onto the CTX. tdm ?? i think twice before even touching it. its growl 900cc can just make me run away. then we go to the specs. 900 and 700, v-twin and parallel.

Honda should try to design their bike nicer. To me the new honda bikes don't really look good. I know honda is known for reliability but their bike design is giving buyers a second thought. That is my personal opinion. To me, other japs bike maker are definitely producing better looking bike than honda. Lol.

If it is a bigger engine bike, then it won't be a fuel sipper anymore, if you want more power then have to pay for higher fuel consumption...

i'm referring to fairing design... ofcuz ride height is quite obvious.

If similar in fairing design, then it should be the DN-01, at least for the portion near the fake fuel tank...

I think Honda is making parallel twins now is due to cost considerations... it is much cheaper to produce than a V-Twin or an in-line four... and according to reports they wanted to encourage more beginners to take up riding...

Well RoboTech, different people have different views of bikes and scooter. to many DN-01 is funny. its not really a bike, cruiser , sports bike or even a scooter but it is all in one. the ctx is looking like dn-01 of course because the designers are from the same company. yes, i know, ctx 700 will consume more than my 40km /l nighthhawk. if what i see from the NC, the 26km/l obtained by many riders and the 20km/l of the DN. I will prefer the DN many times over just because of the shaft drive.

but until then, just wait another 2 to 3 yrs and hopefully it is sold by some rich and bored owners at a very nice price. hahahahah

Yup, have a close look at Dn-01 before. Personally, The design is still much better than ctx700. Lol

20 km/l is 50/50 riding, if constant speed up north can achieve even better FC... and yeah, I like the shaft drive, low maintenance... if I ever let go mine, I let you know... mine is the lowest mileage of all the DN-01s in Singapore... up to now I only covered 10,000 kms, around only 2000+ kms per year... engine hardly broken in yet...

Then I would know where it is. probably the one sitting at the shop at woodland with a very specially number plate.

Is there one for sale in Woodlands?... what's the colour?... probably black or white... mine is the only purple DN-01 here... if it is for sale, then better grab if the price is right...
