who else is at CDC again huh? 😂

I just enrolled my CL2 and will be visiting the centre next week for my orientation.. hahahaha.. 😛

me! But I might drop out...

it's been a long time since I came in. Been out of the country w kids = absolutely no time.

anyway... my wound was healing well until my last trip to taipei (last week) and now it's infected and totally gross. on some oral antibiotics and also started first dose of IV Antibiotics. If still no improvement shall have to ward... trying to balance between delaying (helper back on Wednesday) and not making things worse... hb went to scare the kids to say if the infection gets worse they'll have to cut the muscle then I'll limp for life, if it gets to the bone, they'll amputate me. 😂 of course that started a whole lot of whining... but at least now the kids tell me, "it's okay if you need to stay in the hospital for a while so that your leg can get betters" 😂

so we'll see... either I get even busier (have to go back in for drip everyday) or become quite free, stay in bed don't need to look after kids 😂

Aiyo.. better rest well first.. after recover then reconsider to go back to the lesson.. that’s what I’m worried as well.. body seems to be getting “poorer” as the years goes by.. thus faster take my CL2 before I realised I cmi.. 🤣🤣

rest well and dun worry.. hubby will show the kids the real world.. usually mummies protect the kids and intro the world to them.. but most daddies will intro them to the world.. 😝😝

Kindly read thru at least the intro section first before decide to post any comments.... thanks...

Congratulations! I really think you should get the CL2 even if you do not intend to get that class of capacity. Really happy for you!

No! Try not to drop out. Give it some time for your leg, that being the first priority.

Yes, antibiotics are the first course of action and try to monitor it intensively. Don't scare your kids like that... very traumatic for them. I'm an old boy but I still care for my folks and have a soft spot for them.

Glad to see your post and we'll be here for you. I'm still on the "L" path and also no finished.

agreed.. it's like one of our bucket list..

I got 2 main bucket list (for bikes)

1) Ride SG to Europe (wait till retirement and see if achievable or not) - inspired by one of the lady vespa rider back then (https://thetravelintern.com/wanderingwasp/

2) Ride SG to MHS (Northern Thailand)

MT03 not bad.. in fact.. looking at those kinda bikes.. maybe get a MT-09? Looks quite good for a class 2... the only thing is the cost of maintenance, so it really depends?

I'm at BBDC, I think I practically live there (not by location) but by the frequency that I am going now - will update if I can on the lessons, but I guess it's kinda boring to the forum readers here if they keep reading the same, "plank, slalom, e-brake" practice thing. Though the difference are the pointers that I learn from each session that can be shared here.

Yes, I agree that it's better to get all the classes of capacity before regret sets in...

I'm sure you will get to do those riding in Europe and of course to Northern Thailand, but best to do it in a group. I saw a group of Swiss riders in Iceland, on GS1200s when I was there... they really seem to enjoy themselves, and met the group twice on my road trip there. :)

You went soccer session.. I sleep wake up.. wrist nerve kanna.. 😂 1 month already still hurting and cannot carry any heavy stuff.. hopefully lifting up class 2 doesn't require any wrist strength.. 🤪

MT09 - tracer.. (that's last option bah) dun wan to get anything above 800cc.. else too bulky in Singapore road.. 😂 I still wan the flexiblity to squeeze lei..

Once you go bigger cc.. maintenance will be long long one time.. Will ask more about that with my mech on my next maintenance.. haha

ok la.. if you keen to write, we will read.. that's what forum is all for.. haha.. ;)

Yup.. regret set in will be too late liaoz.. cuz too old/unfit to do the lesson liaoz.. LOL...

Yup.. will definitely go in group.. this time round, I'll make sure the people in the group either have intercom or know some basic hand sign.. else I'm going to throw their bike down the sea.. 😂 Previous group never see read information that I send for hand sign and I put a MUST to know.. then anyhow brake along NSH no signal and etc.. 😅 then I accident and u-turn...

Definitely enjoyment or achievement unlocked.. hahahaha.. in fact.. I'm doing the itinerary routes now.. hahaha

Hello All!

Back again & happy to share that I’m finally going to L6 after some tries on L4 and L5 (circuit evaluation) 😆

Trying apply for L6 but I’m given a prompt that I have no PDL (though I just applied it). Wondering is there any steps I need to do to get the PDL registered?

Thanks a lot! 😁

oh no really sorry to hear that! wound infections are no joke.. best to take your time and have ample rest for speedy recovery, really is 妈妈最伟大 (the sacrificial love of mothers) 😱 learning can wait but hope you don’t give up after a full recovery!!

Road Revision Session 1

It was last Friday and barely made the lesson on time despite it being on the week day. The journey from the East to West was quite long due to the heavier than usual traffic, but thankfully, in this instance, ERP helped to keep the PIE less crowded than what it could have been. Of course, that cost a cool S$2/- :D

Reached the centre and quickly donned the vest with the number and then raced to pick a bike. The lesson was in the morning and the clouds were already building....
Selected the bike and then strapped the raincoat to the back of the bike and barely when all the students mounted the bike, it drizzled slightly and the instructors made all the students wear the rain-coats (super hot)

Then went through the various stages of the road stages, from the filter lane when turning left to checking of entrances and exits along the roads.
The session felt slightly shorter than usual due to the time taken to get out onto the roads as the bikes too, have to wait for the cars to exit the centre.
Overall, the lesson was alright with the points to note that, to check the entrance / exits after coming out of the filter lane.

RC Session 8 Tuesday
Took the late afternoon session and again, the clouds looked ready to open. True to form, the clouds did open and it was a wet practice day. Thankfully, the overall practice went alright though there were some points to take note. Forming some unwanted moves like left thigh not so "loving the tank" especially through the S course - this was actually pointed out by another instructor the following day. Other than that, it was a good practice.

RC Session 9 Wednesday (Confidence decimated)

Went for the RC session (no rain) but wasn't that smooth in terms of the throttle and the bike jerked around the S-course and the turn out of the S-course once emerging from a standstill (car is on the major lane, hence must stop) was wide. Did not eat into the other lane but definitely not pleasing (aka smooth). Also, the damn left leg starter to "chicken wing" out and was pointed out by the instructor. So took note on that and tried to tighten up the legs to love the tank. Overall, was "okay" in terms of the practice, and the thing that was taken home was that... more practice is needed with the bike where the first to second clutch plate isn't so smooth. An experience biker can ride almost any bike, so have to try to pick that skill.

Road revision Session 2 Thursday
Today's practice was fairly smooth and took the time to really familiarize the routes and at the same time, correct the mistakes I made in RR (Road Revision) session 1. Overall, it was a sound practice but the issue is, I had a familiar bike and that made it easier. The thing was that, I met another student in my group who had experienced taking the test and he mentioned that, in reality, can't really choose the bike and so, like what was mentioned in RC Session 9.. need to develop the skill to ride any bike...

That's the latest update ... :D Pretty much a full week ...

Nice one week of activities.. can squeeze all in 1 week ah.. that means you went 3 days in 1 week from east to BBDC... 😂

Yeah.. MT03 is more then enough for SG road usage.. but.. to me.. it seems to lack of the power and stability.. Depends on what you looking at bah.. I'm used to stability that comes from my 150cc 2 stroke KRR (Full fairing/sport bike)..

Nake bike - all wind is directed on bike body and your body

Touring bike - wind is deflected away..

Sport bike - wind deflected away and even more aerodynamic for racing purposes..

So I prefer either touring or Sport bike.. haha... Can feel alot of instability when I encountered cross winds at NSH..

If MT09 - I would go for tracer.. :)

Yes, was on leave for this week and will try to get in as much practice as possible where the schedule and time allows.

I still love naked bikes... though I doubt I'll go to NSHW... Even in SG roads.. have to get that paper first...

MT09 SP is about S$35k? Same as Tracer? I'm not sure if I can reach the ground.. but then again, I think too much.. need to first go step by step and live to ride... I don't think I will be riding as fast as I go on four wheels.

@sameoldshitz, how's your Duke treating you?

Not bad not bad. Now I'm even tempted to mod it further. Bike tops out at 135kph by the ECU cutoff. Thinking if I should try ECU swap with the duke 250. Heard it can "release" the bike's potential... but at a cost of fuel economy lah.

Fuel economy sacrifice is "okay" if you are riding the bike for leisure - you mainly drive for main mode of transport, no?
However, riding the bike, really feels good if one is riding solely for leisure.

Riding jacket

No rides to report today, though went for a bike ride yesterday in the afternoon....

After RC on Wednesday... went down to Motoworld Singapore to get a riding jacket.. been talking about it since eons ago on this thread and finally did it!

Below is a sample of how it looks...

taichi_watermarked.thumb.jpg.177a594d8da166595c4c110d57032dbd.jpg

Yes, I know.. the photo has the tag on.. ... and I got influenced by this local rider in SG; check out his blog...

http://sgbikerboy.com/

He bought a RS Taichi jacket for riding.

The one I got wasn't really super armored and it was more of a CE1 foam type of armor which should offer some road rash protection when riding in urban conditions and no where near  MotoGP sort of use.

It felt pretty cool when worn at home without air conditioning and when the sun was out. Was not a full-mesh per say but rather, semi-mesh.

A shoutout goes to Jasper of Motoworld who suggested this jacket which felt really comfortable, at least when wearing it. Of course, I've stored it for use, only when I am legally allowed out of the paddock unsupervised.

Just a last post for the year before we head into 2023!

nice nice.. which school you in again? LOL..

ok la.. bike wise, depending on individual.. I love to go on NSH previously.. but with naked bike.. not really.. I love to have that "extra" power there.. use it only when required.. KRR is a 2 stroke/ racing bike.. so the power to go until 180 is always there.. and it can maintain at 140 without much issues.. (as long preventive measures are done up before that)

Yeah.. prices between MT09 and Tracer are the same since they are the same build with diff outlook only.. MT 09 for street, tracer for touring.. depending on your usage and preferred outlook.. :) but again.. I'm a 2nd hand bike person.. hahaha.. first hand too ex liaoz bah... cannot tahan sia.. I usually buy full cash upfront de.. the only instalment I'm running now is my flat.. which will be clear soon.. 😏

Mod can.. but dun go too much.. no matter what it's still a 4 stroke bike.. limitation by cc and fuel injectors.. not like 2 stroke, no limitation as long maintenance are done right.. 😛

I tot the photo is yours.. hahaha...

got padding on elbow? looks flat to me.. Knee & Elbow is the first contact.. Next ankle and head.. if you still on your bike if any accident.. (personal experience and review on my amour jacket/pant/boots and helmet)

if fly out of bike, any body can be the main impact already..

Semi mesh enough ler.. dun need full mesh or full leather..

😂 - paddock sia.. you already got 2B right? going straight for 2A bike? MT03? LOL.. Maybe I'm selling (whoever buy from me will be smiling from left to right and right to left) I've changed almost all parts since I gotten the bike (1 year++ under my care).. Clutch system/ignition/starter relayer- motor and anything that doesn't sounds or feels right to me.. all guards installed.. even got spare tail fairing cuz previous owner scratched it.. I cannot tahan major scratches.. 😂

There is padding on elbow, shoulders and back.. but foam padding, not CE2, this is CE1 padding.

Yes, "paddock" because am still a "L", no have not gotten the 2B. Still have to wait for the day to come. In fact, I can now appreciate how Nakura and other learners felt before the test. I woke up in the middle of the night just this morning at 3am, thinking of the test!
Juggling work and all, while it is not the primary license, taking leave and accounting on why I am taking leave adds more pressure on the attempt. Need to get some road time on 2B bike and don't just want to go to 2A... we'll see, first must get the really raw basic.. the privilege to ride.
