I was approaching a junction when I saw the lights turn amber. Im sure the light was still amber when I crossed the stop line. Unfortunately I hit a car which was turning right from the opp side of the road. Police are involved. What will happen if the lights have indeed changed to red before I crossed the stop line? revoke and fine? Or will get banned from riding also?

We were taught in theory school that we should brake and stop behind the stop line if light is amber, however, if it is too short a distance to stop SAFELY, motorist is allowed to proceed CAUTIOUSLY.

At the same time, vehicles from oncoming traffic making a right turn should CONFIRM that there are no more vehicles going straight before proceeding to make the right turn.

Both parties are at fault, however, the main fault is on the car driver as he has failed to CONFIRM before turning. Vehicles turning should always give way to vehicles going straight. If he argues his right of way based on traffic light, then pedestrian crossing junction when red man, the driver got right of way to knock the pedestrian down?

Argument based on traffic light can be contested. The amber light is not say very long, and 1 second at 50kmph is quite a considerable distance.

If there is evidence that you ran red light, then that's 12 points. And then the driver will claim you.

RIDE.
