the thing is, air horn has a compressor. The stebel magnums I have is electric horn. It sounds abit like air horn or those loud car horns. Some shop also said its approved by LTA.

I got conditional pass.

If im not wrong, your engine is required to be ON for air horns to work. Mine as long its connected to the battery(with relay) can horn already.

You can ask the guy go F spider. Electric horns = sound produced via an electromagnet driver. Air horn = sound produced via air forced though an aperture to produce sound.

If I were you I would offer download a spec sheet from stebel website on the spot on my phone to prove him wrong, but at the same time I would write in to his company to complain of his incompetency.

Being able to tell an air horn from an electric one is something very basic and is expected of an inspection officer in his course of duty.

thanks ben, much appreciated.

He was determined that it was an air horn due to just hearing it(can't see because in my fairings).

I kept telling him its electric horn so in order to save himself, he gave me a conditional pass and told me to sign to say they did 'catch' me for it but it still considered a pass, more to just cover themselves.

from the looks of it, seems inspection centres has been failing these electric horns.

Stebel is the brand name, Magnum is the series name. Twin is for 2 pieces instead of 1 piece. I thought Magnum series is only for electromagnetic horns?

The other 2 are the Nautilus series. Those are electropneumatic horns, which seems to be still considered as electric horn, just that makes an air horn sound.

Read from Stebel website.

Exactly my point. The inspector straight away hears and tries to look(which he can't because in the fairings) and determines its an air horn just by hearing it.

I think a lot of people people using those snail ones got 'con' into thinking its air horn at inspection centres.

These are electric twin snail horns.

Definitely is LTA frenly.

There are discrepancy in approval of test between different centres because information are not cascaded from TOP properly nor clearly.

Having the "FAAAAAAA" sound similar to air horn. Many misunderstand it as air horn and press on owner saying they are not legal and etc etc etc....

These are electric compress air horn.

1 canister 2 intergrated "snail" for amplification of tone.

having a loud 'FAAAAAAAAA" is impossible not to recognize the sound.

Using Disc horn will be producing the "TEEEEEEEE" tone which seemingly many of the inspectors are quite used to it.

The only interesting part is after visiting inspection centre so many times. .

i didnt see decibel meter at all.

Ah then you cannot blame him because he cant visually inspect it

okay fair enough. but then like that all sportsbike who have that 'snail horns' how are they gonna prove. Showing box or printing stuff not gonna help. Removing fairings is not really a good idea
