Sink holes and bumpy roads, nothing new to every Singaporeans nowadays..

Especially us riders where we feel much more impact due to those bumps and all.

I have met with an accident yesterday 25/03/2013 approx 6.37pm at Dairy Farm road going into BKE towards Woodlands.

Just along the bend heading up into BKE..

It was spilled paint which caused me to skidded, totally unexpected.

What is worst that after my fall, there are 2 more riders who skidded like how i did. Sad, just how safe are our roads?

What are LTA doing? Promoting road safety but how about the roads to begin with? Are they properly maintained?

You be the judge.

I'm sorry for your fall. No time to avoid as the view ahead was obstructed and u were leaned over. Luckily u were properly attired.

For all those who despise wearing gear, take a good look at where he contacted the ground and how much skin he saved.

Our roads aren't safe to begin with. Heavy vehicles speeding everywhere because they are paid per trip and due to inflation, everyone is rushing for time to earn more. "businessmen" are using handphone while the drive, dont make phone call will lose business. Everybody kiasu but not kiasi, always want to win, always want to be stronger, be faster. Keep this attitude up and soon more accidents will occur.

Anyway, back to the topic. LTA may take awhile to respond to spillage. But problem is people do not even bother to report. Just wait for somebody else to do the job. The person who spilled the paint also don't want to report and get fined.

Lets all watch out for others on the road. See anything that pose a danger to other motorists, please report to save lives. Ride slower at bends too!

You may want to try to bring up your case to LTA, with proof and seek compensation if appropriate.

Bro I feel your pain, your video reminds me of how I skidded and fell onto the road caused by a huge patch of oil during my cornering. I think the cause of these spills are from speeding heavy vehicles. I have seen alot of reckless heavy vehicles dropping wood, water, stones, sand, chair and etc onto the road. And it seems like LTA is doing nothing, even worst they are now dominating the overtaking lane.

Ouch that must be very pain. Ya, its better not to assume spore road is always safe. As rider, we must always aware of possible dangers to minimize the risk... And hope luck will always be our side.

Thing is LTA won't do sh!t for your case and TP might even fine you for failure to keep proper control of vehicle. They don't know who made the sand/oil/paint spill and they don't care.

Well bumpy roads, potholes sort of happen when the PAP do budget cuts on proper road maintenance and more into thier pockets.

Don't think you can claim anything from spilled paint. I skidded on spilled diesel too some time back.

Spills are caused by other road users, and not LTA.

All you can do is to call LTA to notify them of the spill and they'll send a clean up team.

But sinkhole... or major potholes, maybe you can try claiming from them, attributing it to poor maintenance.

Most importantly, how is your injuries?

To ride on the road, You need skills,Stamina, or even luck.

But to be a good rider, you have to change with your environment, and adjust yourself to its rhythm.

Cultivate the confidence to face the different situations. Don't let yourself to be subdued by the environment :thumb:

My injuries are fine everybody, abrasions on my arms and knees, my jacket gave way.. But gloves are fine, they protected the hell out of my palms.

I actually went to ask around whether claiming against LTA are feasible, 70% said not possible and might even get a fine and demerit points. But one think that bothers me so much is, unless I'm speeding like crazy, I lost control and skidded due to poorly maintain road why will I get charge?

I remember seeing some news that LTA actually engage sub cons to monitor on the 'health' of our roads and highways.

Let me emphasis again, there were 2 more riders who skidded right in front of me again..

The spilled paint was gone today when I drove pass it again, guess the rain washed away.

So what do you think? What can i do? am i Able to claim from LTA for my case? What's my next course of action? And how do I do it? Thanks a mil

And yes it was Malaysians driving the van, they are real, really good people, at least they have the heart and made that effort to help me, that uncle riding the maxi scooter was good too, helped ushered the traffic for a bit,

I kept thanking them but that was after I off my camera.

Thank God that you escaped with these minor injuries and that the vehicles around you were not travelling fast or distracted by other things. Hope you get well soon.

I dont think you can claim for damages from LTA, it's not essentially their fault. And i do agree that the failing to control vehicle thing is bullshit. Ask them to get on a bike and travel through that patch at 50kmph with a slight lean, i'm pretty sure 95% of them will fall.

I ever experienced this truck infront of me carrying those thumb-sized granite stones. It was overloaded and with every bump on the road, some of the stones will fall on the road.

RIDE.

From the accident, I'd say repairs would be minimal la, little to no blunt impact, just sliding, forks, rims, frame should be fine. Ride safe bros, roads are dangerous enough, idiots are everywhere.
