Oh well,

Thanks for sharing your experience! And I've spoken to my dad again but still he insist on me completing 2A before getting a 400cc bike. So, I guess I've got to wait.

Just to side-track, was the one year wait quite jialat for you?

Biking is something that everyone can learn and enjoy! :goodluck:

i wont say its not possible

i will say its "not encouraged"

why ? anybody who went thru all 3 classes will know, 2b is the one which is the most "comprehensive"

and u get road training, by the time u go for 2a or 2 , will u still remember ur road training ?

perhaps for handling, 2b and 2a, the change is fairly negligible, unlike 2a to 2

but then riding on the road and circuit is a whole lot of difference

true that pple in the states starts from 600cc, but states is not sg, the built of the rider is different right from the start, the road attitude is different, the roads are different, i dun think its a fair comparison here

as i agreed wif bro kera, the real reason is ur dad is jus worried abt u, hes jus procrastinating, hoping ur interest will die down, or u will eventually give up

and defensive riding dosent include road riding

From what I understand, these are NOT the actual reasons that your dad does not allow you to ride at the moment. The main reason is that he LOVES YOU and cares for you.

Even though I'm riding for many years I wouldn't like my son to ride a bike at a very young age. The younger you are the more mistakes you make which some times are deadly.

yup bro keratsini is rite...ur dad luvs u.....nowadays not like last time....when I started riding in the early 90s...the cars do give way to bikes...now its like bikers are public enemy no 1 for drivers(but not all)....

There are some big 2B bikes around, get scramblers, you sit straight can see far. Pick fast, still can cruise slightly above 100KM/H.

Varadero125 also much more bigger then scramblers, drivers confirm can see you.

Hey dude, relak. Don't keep wrecking your brains. I know how you feel. My first bike was an s4. I know it can be quite sian during you p-plate year with no bike. Just a thought, you dun need to put p-plate and have the drivers bully you. When I reached 2A, I had to take a couple more lessons to refresh myself on riding. My advice is to do the same, take a feel more extra lessons, you won't regret it. My suggestion is to buy a super 4. Why? Because to me, it's like a bicycle with a big engine. Very easy handling, relak riding posture, etc. That's Honda for you. Don't go and buy those sports bikes when you get 2A, you're totally not used to that posture. They're not worth, especially if you're intending to get a Class 2 bike.

Just relak this year, and save your money for your 2A bike. :thumb:

I guess just like you go for Job Interview, they will ask you if u have any experience? If you say no, some might dun want you, but think again, if they dun want you, how are you going to gain experience??

You dad love you, He just wanted you to wait another 1yr plus. By then, either you don feel like riding, or he get a car for you or bla bla bla.

Dun worry bout the long time no ride part, I used to stop riding for sometime (many years).

there's no reason why cannot. singapore is the only country that have 3 types of license(according to my knowledge, there might be some ulu countries which is the same). so basically, for instance, in america, no one gets their first bike less than 600cc. ever. except for nerds.

It has been scientifically proven that 95% of the population can but do not speak proper engrish.

mine is worst... my father told mi if i learn bike den go home call him uncle... i still go n get my license behind their back... after i got my 2b i went through alot of accident wif my dear SP.... untill 1 day den they discover it... n who knows after all... i'm riding a r6 now... hahahaaa :cheeky:

agree with what some folks here are saying... the real reason isn't that 2B bikes are that much different from 2A bikes, or that the training is different, but that your father worries about you riding.

whether you ride you'll have to choose for yourself. and no matter what and when you ride, a lot about safety is in your attitude and judgement (and skill to some extent, but if your attitude/judgement is right you'll be riding within your skill level), not in what you ride. maybe you should think about if your attitude and judgement are ready for riding bikes? a good place to compare is if you read the STREET SMART thread in this forum; they're some of the most conservative riders safety-wise. if you can agree with their point of view, i'd say you're pretty ready?

ever thought of riding offroad only first? it's really quite enjoyable (but expensive), you'll be all geared up in case of crashes, and you learn lots of technique that you can bring to the street in future. if next time i have kids who want to ride, i would get them to learn riding offroad first.

p.s. i can see some machismo-loaded stuff here... hehe... don't be influenced k :) have fun learning at the centre, and ride safely afterwards! you don't get many chances with mistakes on two wheels.

ccharlesc: japan also has this system, at least they did last time, not sure now... ours is modelled on it (they use 125cc, 400cc, and open class). even our driving centres are run very similarly.

no sweat. riding can be picked up again. u will be rusty at first but its nothing like when u first tried riding a bike (illegally or at the driving centres)

Hey, you mentioned about offroad riding? Where can I go and do offroad riding? Do you know of any good place to start at? Any details on that?

Riding a scrambler is not expensive. If you drop a scrambler on hard tarmac road, may be is broken lever, bend handlebar. But of cos going offroad you will want to buy safter gear, will need to set a side a amount of money. If you guys want to know more about offroad riding, there will be apit bike (mini scrambler) race held at the open ground next to cineleisure.
