Hi Ah Sing

I bought stuff from e-bay before, but not motor parts.

Be warn, due to high cost on freight, the amount you pay for the freight might turn out to be more than your product!

Be safe, always check on negative feedbacks given by buyers who has the history of dealing with seller. Do not buy from seller/s with PO Box address, you risk dealing with a bogus!

:goodluck:

i do bought motor parts from ebay before. One thing to take note is that always ask from the shipping prices before bidding if not u may end paying more for the shipping price than the item price.

no siggy at the moment

You can use the seller rating as a guide.

If the rating is in the tens or hundreds positive, then its pretty safe.

Some are actually commercial entities set up on Ebay to sell or auction of items.

Remember to calculate carefully the price. Before bidding, try getting a quote on the shipping costs. Also, my personal advice is try to avoid bidding or buying UK items. In addition to costing 3 times with our currency, their shipping will kill you due to the exorbitant customs tax.

I've bought 2 items off Ebay. Not bad. Like I said, you have to get a reliable seller based on his ratings. Also, PayPal is pretty secure way to pay. Too bad Ebay dun have an escrow type service.

I have bought heaps of bike parts from Ebay in both Australia the US and the UK and never had a problem. When buying from the US I usually try and get a few parts at the same time from 1 seller that way freight is reduced overall. You can get some really good bargains but you do need to know how to talk and communicate clearly in proper english otherwise sellers will get annoy or you may get misunderstandings on prices, products etc.

Golden rule of ebay ask all your questions before you place a bid. Don't buy from sellers with a poor rating. Follow those 2 and you should have no problems.

i used to buy stuffs from ebay using CASH, that time Paypal wasn't so popular yet, dun think it was even setup yet. i would go to local money changer and get USD$, then sealed them up in envelope and sent as registered mail to the seller. usually i would send

i remember got one transaction, i send like USD$200-300 for some bike parts, consist of oil tank, airbox, side cover... the air freight cost a bomb, like what other bros mention. the air freight cost more than the items i bidded. in the end, i choose for sea freight. 2-3months pass, no sign of the items, i mail the seller and he assure me that he has shipped it out. i lost hope and thought i've learnt a good lesson.

then 1 day, the postman came and ask me to collect my stuffs at the paya lebar post office. my stuffs had arrived.. 5months after i send the $$ over.

Enjoy Ebay-ing~!

Its a Mod Thing.. you'll not understand...

Not buying from someone who has low rating number is not fair to judge a seller.. He may be new to selling so his rating number is low..Instead look for his percentage rating. If lower than 95% the seller had received complains from his seller. Read up on his complains..sometimes its not the seller's fault just the buyer being unreasonable.

Overall do some research before u jump! Every online transaction is risky...

On the bright side..I got a Simpson Outlaw race helmet on e-bay at half the price. Only used once or so..Helmet came in the original Simpson box with NO fingerprints at all on the helmet..everything so kilat even the cushion smell very new! Its a rare helmet in the U.S and its even rare to find a user in Singapore!!

But unless the total value of the items are going to be less than $400 else we'll have to pay gst. Not really worth it....

very true.. a set of new fairings for my bike listed in ebay uk costs ~$550 SGD.. chepaer than getting it repainted. however shipping is another $300+ so it doesn't seem worth it..

I found that some of the listing in UK are really based in UK. Some are based in HK but lists them in UK so that they can charge more for shipping. Also the net savvy bikers seem to be more active in UK and European countries than in sg/asia

Big brother's watching...

To do list:

- Steel brake hoses (In progress...)

- Rewire bike

- Repaint fairing and clean up bike

- Replace exhaust system (DONE!)
