Hi Guys,

I lost my key (black) and would need to duplicate another one; most likely at Hong Leong, as my current bike shop is holding the other 2 keys (1 X black and 1 X red master key). I like to know the price of duplicating a another black key? And another thing is do i need the red master key to duplicate another black key? I can only do it at Hong Leong right; due to the fact that i need them to re-programme the key or i can do the re-programming on my bike itself? Any kind soul pls advise, Thanks.

e RED key is the 'master' key, onli with tat key u're able to duplicate another.

well, i thought most shops will give 2 x BLACK to customer & retain the RED until hire purchase is clear.

the cost of duplicating is quite ex.

Performance wise, its the same. Except that Fz6 S2 has the wind shield, which protects u from the wind blast, enabling u to go slightly faster.

Machine price think is 13.8k, perhaps 1k for ur insurance?

Information (duplication of key) for all fazer or yamaha user... Here's a step on how to duplicate your key...

(1) Buy a spare key (black) from HL

(2) Go drill/engrave the key at a reliable shop

(3) Programme your set of keys (see details below)

For step 3 (programming of keys), you can either let HL to programme your keys for you at a cost of 10 bucks or you can do it yourself as it's really easy; i feel so cheated when i gave them the 10 bucks... Here's a description on how to programme your keys (note that you need to have all your keys with you):

(1) Insert your master (red) key, crank and start your bike then turn off your bike

(2) Insert your slave (black) key1, crank and start your bike then turn off your bike

(3) Insert your slave (black) key2, crank and start your bike then turn off your bike

(4) Insert your slave (black) key1, crank and start your bike then turn off your bike; this is to end the programming sequence

If you have more then 2 slave keys then repeat the same until you are done then repeat the same step with your first slave key... Please do note that when you are programme your keys, you will need all the keys that you want to use to be there (eg. you lose 1 X black key... then you duplicate and programme a set... 3mths ltr you found the key you lost... the key can still crank but cannot ignite your bike already)...

Hope this piece of information can help all fazer or yamaha bike users... Cheers~

I'm currently riding a fazer 1 (fairing version)... all i can say is if you want to go touring get a fz1 cause riding in NSH need the power which i think fz6 don't give you enough (no offense to all fz6 rider).... but if you riding mostly in sg or dun go far on NSH then fz6 will be a better choice then fz1... as for fairing or naked it all depends on you... but i'm depending alot on my windscreen when travelling at 220 and above on NSH... But end of the day still up to you to see wad bike you like cause you're the rider...

Each had its own good and bad

cant say the fz6 is bullet proof

nor the gsr is faultless

you just hav to do some re-search

and most important which one you like the most

If your bike brand new, forget the shop warranty. Go straight to HL. but be prepared to leave your bike.

I'm interested in touring to cameroon or thailand... any of you done that? I'm interested in putting a aftermarket windscreen for more comfortable trip, is that needed? Currently my friend is asking me to go on a touch and go trip to cameroon highland (leave sg in the evening, reach cameroon at midnight and back in sg by break of light). I'm wondering if that would be too 'xiong' as this is like my first trip. Any experienced rider please advice.

hi guys , i just bought my fz1 , need some adv for running in . i was told by my bike shop to travel between 80-90km , for the first 0 to 1000km. however when i read the manual , its states that do not prolonged rpm abv 60000r/pm

thats like more then 90km , , so guys which is the way to do it , i am not going for hard break in , just gradually running in but i think personally if i travel 80-90km , i find the engine getting heated fast .so far i am following the manual . am i right , pls adv

Eh? Ur 1st? I tot u go touring b4?

U going cameron or cameroon? Diff place leh...

Guru just came back from Cameron, maybe he can share his experience a little?

so guys which is the way to do it , i am not going for hard break in ,

This has been debated back n forth for as long as I can remember. Personally I pushed my bike up the first dyno I could find out of the shop.

If you follow the manual then I think you're ok. Keep it below 6K rpms(or was it 5k?) till abt 2000km. Then below 8K till about 5000km. Then ur done. Do remeber to change ur EO. It's been a while so my memory is kinda fuzzy. Anyone done a break in recently who can give btter info?

Also, check out this site. http://www.mototuneusa.com/break_in_secrets.htm

My personal opinion....

Don’t follow the user manual to a T…. and also, don’t trust Mototune 100%. Go with the middle of the road.

3 yrs back, I ran in my 04R1 (same engine) moderately. The manual states no prolonged operation above Bla-bla-bla RPM… Prolonged, being the operative word.

So, just whack your engine above 6000… maybe 7000+ or 8000 for a little bit, then close throttle abruptly. Engine braking helps to “seal in” the rings during initial run-in. Other than that, just ride the bike normally. A 1000cc has enough power for it to be ridden effortlessly on normal roads. Hey, your 6th gear 4000rpm is around 95kph …. You can happily cruise all day without going over 5000.

I just did my break in for my fz1. My advice to you would be just ride normally as you don't have to strictly follow the 5 or 6,000 rpm rule. You can actually go slightly above the rpm recommended in the user manual, just don't maintain out of the recommended rpm and you will be fine. Try to rev more on your engine (go up and down the rpm) instead of riding dully (hook up whenever rpm reaches 3,000), i feel that that will be more fun and better for your run-in.
