works out to be u're changing yr plugs & coolant every 9mths.

Is it too infrequent or too frequent?

My mileage is on the rather high side, daily ard 60-70km, so I hit the 5K mileage within 10 weeks or so.

Just checked w the owner's manual, recommended plug replacement is about 13,000km. So, give and take, I ard there.

But I've yet to change the fuel filter, not even once. Last time I asked, the boss usually not needed.

Hope you dont mean sandpaper the headers??? Pls dont!!!!!

Try using a Meguairs All metal polish if you want to try to remove anything. Better when the headers are a little hot/warm (not too hot)...so use a cloth with afair bit of polish to try getting the grime off.

sandpaper will remove all coating and protection and soon it will rust like mad!!!

The leak could be due to a couple reasons, listed below in increasing fatality...

1) water drainage from the plugs socket (this happens if water somehow manage to get into the socket, for example, during a bike wash)

2) a worn or bad seal on the water pump.

3) a cracked cylinder head

Determine what came out from that hole, clean it up, ride it and see if it 'squirts' again.

Starting to love my bike even more.

I felt that adding accessories to bike, really makes me re-appreciate my ride again.

I was considering to take up the Motorshow offer from ASP and change my ride..

After much considersation, I stick to my current ride and add spent some Moolahs to get him some new toys.

It felt like the first day I got him, bike looks new, eager to take him out and burn some tyres and show off to friends.

Saw this phrase in the past and gonna quote it again, " Ride more, worry less!!"

HI guys...

Bought myself a 2nd hand 2004 FZ6(red color) from Asphoon Changi. NOt bad for a bike that is 4year old because it's mileage is only 59000km. The previous owner was a uncle who under utilise the bike.

I will asking questions about this particular model for fazer6 but for some of you, the questions could have beeen asked by someone else earlier in this thread but i just don;t have the time to browse the pages 1 by 1.

So im gonna compile the questions and hope you guys can help me answer it. Here goes....

1) The bike is year 2004 production and it's mileage is 59000km. Bought it at $9800 OTR. Is it a good deal? FYI, paintwork and engine still looks new.

2) What's the fuel consumption like and the best grade of fuel for it's model and make?

3) Any popular workshop to recommend if i ever wanna service my bike? And of course any popular shop to recommend to get accesories.

4) What are the common breakdown or problems for Fazer6?

5) It's exhaust is under the seat. Will the heat from the exhaust be transferred to the seat and be very hot after prolong riding? Especially for the pillion concerned.

6) If the answer is Yes for Qn5, is there any preventive measures or solutions to it?

7) Performance wise, is it a good bike for touring and at the same time a bike for everyday commuting?

8) I've seen aftermarket exhaust on this bike but is it just the end can only or there's full system available for it?

Thanks for your time.

P.S I will only get the bike by end November.

As long as u like it, does the rest matter?

til e end of the day, u're still the one doing the riding.

2) What's the fuel consumption like and the best grade of fuel for it's model and make?

stock should be ard 20-22km/l (some claim higher)

i getting 18km/l (no comments needed, thanks)

3) Any popular workshop to recommend if i ever wanna service my bike? And of course any popular shop to recommend to get accesories.

normal EO change, just go back to yr prefer mec.

otherwise, get yr parts @ AM or HL. it should be cheaper.

4) What are the common breakdown or problems for Fazer6?

04-06 tends to have this TPS problem.

damage close to $300 if i not wrong.

otherwise, it's a FUN bike.

5) It's exhaust is under the seat. Will the heat from the exhaust be transferred to the seat and be very hot after prolong riding? Especially for the pillion concerned.

i'd replaced the stock-cans shortly after i got it.

almost 4got how it feels like.

but i didn't rem my pillion (back then) complaining abt the heat.

it should be warm, not hot.

6) If the answer is Yes for Qn5, is there any preventive measures or solutions to it?

CHANGE TO AFTERMARKET CANS.

7) Performance wise, is it a good bike for touring and at the same time a bike for everyday commuting?

i believe most of the FZ owners are doing the daily ride with it.

mine's 19mths, having a reading of close to 33,000km on speedo.

but who cares! tourers are meant to have high mileage.

8) I've seen aftermarket exhaust on this bike but is it just the end can only or there's full system available for it?

end-cans / half-system / full system available.

i'm remus cans & link pipe (should consider a half system)

Thanks for your time.

Please dun get frustrated or anything but it's just that im an absolutely a newbie in class 2 bikes of sort. From class 2B to 2A, it's been the Gilera for me. Fazer is no doubt my choice of bike since the beginning and it's ridden by "The Doctor" himself in MotoGP.

The aftermarket exhaust system has this drooling effect on almost everyone but it's way too expensive for me. Was hoping to get a cheaper alternatives but nevertheless, thanks for answering my questions LollyPop.

Will join you guys for an activity one of these days...

So im gonna compile the questions and hope you guys can help me answer it. Here goes....

1) The bike is year 2004 production and it's mileage is 59000km. Bought it at $9800 OTR. Is it a good deal? FYI, paintwork and engine still looks new.

Actually I saw that bike too, its pretty alright, previous owner installed Scott Oiler, Steel Brake Hose, Bigger/Taller Windshield and pretty nice number plate.

Mileage is pretty good too. I think its not bad of a deal if you wanna give 600cc a try. Since Brand new bike loses its value quickly. (PS: 9800 include insurance hor?)

2) What's the fuel consumption like and the best grade of fuel for it's model and make?

I will say the FC should be bout the same. I'm having 19-20km/l avg on my 07 FZ6.

3) Any popular workshop to recommend if i ever wanna service my bike? And of course any popular shop to recommend to get accesories.

I always go Bikeworks to do my regular EO and Filter change. Accessories wise, its always good to try Regina.

4) What are the common breakdown or problems for Fazer6?

Since its a Fazer, its gonna attract alot of attention, you got to get used to it. We all do yeah? I like to say Fazer is a winner becoz its pretty much a problemless bike. Just change ur EO regularly, clean air filter and etc. However given the bikes age, perhaps clutch cables and clutch will be slightly worn, do take note.

5) It's exhaust is under the seat. Will the heat from the exhaust be transferred to the seat and be very hot after prolong riding? Especially for the pillion concerned.

My gf has no issue with the heat. She doesn't feel it anyway. Or perhaps it doesnt bother her. It wont be much of a problem.

6) If the answer is Yes for Qn5, is there any preventive measures or solutions to it?

If somehow, pillion find it very hot(fazerians are hot), always can go for aftermarket exhaust.

7) Performance wise, is it a good bike for touring and at the same time a bike for everyday commuting?

Its excellent. I travel from home to sch everyday and i would say its pretty much from 1 end to the other. I love every minute on it. Its ecstatic.

8) I've seen aftermarket exhaust on this bike but is it just the end can only or there's full system available for it?

I'm running on Yoshimura end cans and it doesnt have full system yet.

Thanks for your time.

P.S I will only get the bike by end November.

Lastly, welcome to our big family.

hopStick;4756018']HI guys...

Ya, the number plate is nice!! FY*2*A... I think 600cc is the best for both S'pore & M'sia roads. I dunno what else the previous owner did to the bike but one day i would love to me the Fazerians/Fazerettes and have a so called "inpsection" to the bike. Would like to hear their reviews about this bike.

I will say the FC should be bout the same. I'm having 19-20km/l avg on my 07 FZ6.

One of the main reason i chose Fazer, i believe it's the best FC in it's class. Has power too.

I always go Bikeworks to do my regular EO and Filter change. Accessories wise, its always good to try Regina.

Regina is always the best shop for accesories to all class of bikes. Will look into Bikeworks, my fren who rides a class 2 bike goes there too.

It attracted my attention many times without fail when i was riding class 2B bike. I've seen some do wonders with Fazer too. That was the deciding factor to purchase this bike. Glad to hear it's a virtually problemless bike and yup, i'll take note of the clutch cables.

My gf has no issue with the heat. She doesn't feel it anyway. Or perhaps it doesnt bother her. It wont be much of a problem.

Glad to hear this too

If somehow, pillion find it very hot(fazerians are hot), always can go for aftermarket exhaust.

Of course that will come later but for now, i hope the heat is not what i expect.

Its excellent. I travel from home to sch everyday and i would say its pretty much from 1 end to the other. I love every minute on it. Its ecstatic.

Wow!!!:thumb: I think i'll love every minute of it too!!
