hopStick;5477286']Hi everyone, I tried another mod, which is the dual head light. You can find the procedures at fz6-forum.com. I've made the hardness, if anyone wants it, i can always help make more.

I've always find DIY fun and challenging. I'm thinking of doing grounding on my own but haven't really decide whether to start or not. One reason is I dunno the real significant difference of having grounding and not having grounding. My friend swear grounding help stablilize the overal voltage and I myself uses a multimeter, measuring one with and without, the result i find is, no diff >

Till now, the most rewarding DIY will be the Air Box Mod. No difference in power gains, but definitely makes the bike sound nicer. More raw & the bike ROARS if you installed an after market air filter.

2nd will be volt meter, this is the most simple DIY, easy and practical. Helps monitor my battery. Bike getting old, 2 yrs liao, battery getting weaker.

The list goes on, hope to meet fella DIYers real soon!

So the harness you did was same as this?

http://www.fz6-forum.com/forum/how-tos/1663-bd43s-07-headlight-mod-part-1-a.html

And you actually followed the same steps as in lifting up the tank and went through the male/female connectors like this?

http://www.fz6-forum.com/forum/how-tos/1666-bd43s-07-headlight-mod-part-2-a.html

How about the airbox mod? Did you follow these as well?

Yup, exactly the same harness was made. It's from the BD43's dual headlight mod. From Part 1 to Part 2.

The Air Box Mod was a little different. I have to make do with the tools i have then. I only have a cutter and no "file", so the cut was not perfect. But I did 1 for my friend and this time, with proper tools.

You've done the same for your bike too? The dual head light mod was pretty simple as long as you have the harness.

Im thinking of getting a R6 fork to retro fit to mine. But unlike US, R6 forks are pretty hard to get here.

I'm considering getting a PC3 to play with, but unless my dad is an Oil-Baron, theres no way I can afford a Dyno at home.

I read something bout Fender Eliminator from that forum too, in my to-do-list too. So much to do, so little time =[

I might be Left Handed, But I'm Always RIGHT

DIY list

1. Volt Meter

2. Air Box Mod

3. Electric Horn

4. Dual Head Light

5. Removing of Mid Pipe's Cat

Nope, I haven done any of those as mine is still under warranty, don't want to void it yet. :D

Sorry if I've asked too much but I'm quite curious and eager to know, that is, for the headlight mod, if we follow closely to the method which that guy did, it means

(Pls correct me if I'm wrong):

  • At any point of time, only 1 of the filament of the H4 bulb will be lighted up?
  • During start up and normal mode, only the lower filament is on, higher filament off?
  • When the left hand switch is turned on, only the higher filament is on and lower filament is off?
  • For both filaments to be lighted up together, it's only when the passing switch is on?

As for the air box mod, understand that you've limited tools to use, but you've managed to cut the cover like what is done by the guy did in the forum? I'll be hands on it very very soon, really eager to try it out! :D

Yes, unless you press the "passing light", which then lights both filament up

  • During start up and normal mode, only the lower filament is on, higher filament off?

    You are right

  • When the left hand switch is turned on, only the higher filament is on and lower filament is off?

Both on, same as passing light

  • For both filaments to be lighted up together, it's only when the passing switch is on?

It works exactly same as other bikes, lower filament is always on, when you hit the passing light, higher filament lights up and lower filament is not affected.

Thanks bro. I shall have a look, won't go for original since it's so expensive. That's not mine, I attached the picture from the internet.

Were you the one who said you're going to K&T last week? So how's the experience there? Any feedback? :)

yes i'm the one who went to k&t that day with my colleague... not bad ah there... clifford is a nice guy...

i repair my tyre (bom-chek with a screw), install voltmeter, did dual headlight mod & headlight switch mod... i wanted to install gear indicator de but he dun have the wiring specs... then he check with all fellow frns, the wiring specs for fz6 '08 is not yet released... so now gonna wait... meanwhile, i got gear indicator = no indicator...
