Thx all for the input. Have spoken to roy from CKA the other day, he seemed a nice guy. Gave me one advice though. Do not rush into buying a bike. A point well taken. Will look around more and hopefully they will lower the price tag on the roadwin.

Cheers

Hello every1,

I came across Singaporebikes.com last week and have been doing a lot of reading. You have quite a bit of information here, especially regarding the Roadwin. Keep up the good work!

I'm living in Bermuda and just picked up a brand new Roadwin 150 a couple weeks ago. I love the bike (other than it's only a 150 - really 140 but that's the biggest you can have here and the speed limit everywhere is only 35 km/h (everyone goes around 50 km/h)

I'm still doing the run-in on it (not lots of room to go for long rides...) so I might just need to wait for the first maintenance (they say 850 km) but I have a strange problem. When the bike is under load and I give it more than 1/4 throttle the engine sounds like it has some bad valve tap going on  . I took it to the shop last week and they adjusted the timing but that didn't seem to help.

Has anyone heard of or had this problem with their RW?

BIG PROBLEM!!!

i use to realise many light blue dots on e left side of my hugger. looks like liquid but when touch feels like powder. it doesn't go away easily though. at first i thought it was dirt, untill i realise there's a small opening(not crack, but the opening is design on the tail) on the underneath of the tail. right under the seat area.

the blue things drip from there.

AND IT ALWAYS DIRTIED MY BIKE!!!

any one knows y?

maybe the battery waste crystallized there??? yeah like uncle soh say, better to check your battery also...

not 2 worry about the tappet sound, after run-in change engine oil (EO) to 20w-50 full-synthetic oil will help.

i think climate in bermuda r same as sillypore at 26~32 deg C.

our agent here, did first service quite early as compare to your recommended.

i think it was 250km, change engine oil n oil filter to get rid of any contaminates like grease compound/wear metals/preservatives/etc.

try not 2 use full synthetic engine oil b4 run-in period, u can use semi-syn oil.

i don't recommend using castrol full syn oil eg. castrol R4, any other brands r much better.

we like to know, wat others rw owners in your country did mod 2 their bikes.

show us, in sillypore we r very much restricted to mod our bikes.

we zoom about 90~110kph on our expressway which is 90kph limited.

normal road has 60kph limits but i travel around 70kph.

Thanks for the reply!

I was told something similar by another person here in Bermuda. I'm hoping that the first maintenance and oil change will correct the problem. Maybe I'll get it done early (say around 500 km).

As for climate, I'm sure it's not as warm most of the year but it's close. January-February it's around 14-16 C and July-August it's about 26-30 C. Humidity is average of 85%.

Haven't seen many mods done to the RW's here. I've only seen the Moriwaki exhaust installed on a few bikes but I've heard some people use a kit to upgrade to 185 CC from the stock 140. I'm sure a few may have modded the carb and airbox though...

I wish we had an expressway. If you tried to go faster than 60 km/h anywhere on this island you'd probably kill yourself (roads are small and winding) or get thrown in jail. Not like my home country of Canada...

just want 2 add another thing about the bad tappet sound.

it might not be the tappet sound tat u hear.

sound might be from the exhaust header tapping the engine at the mount.

u can ask your mech 2 put in addition header gasket (do not remove orig. gasket).

i had 3 gaskets becos of my mod stainless-steel header collar.

n i find header-2-muffler aligns much better when mounted.

it all depends, some might be slightly out of line.

OR

it can be your pan-belly tat is making the sound.

why not do the easy stuff first, remove the pan-belly.

That's a great suggestion. It does kind of sound like an exhaust problem but I wasn't sure. I've ridden bigger bikes in the past and they never sounded like this. I may just have the mech add an exhaust header gasket to see. I can always remove it later if it doesn't help.

I don't have a pan-belly installed on my bike.

Hopefully it's just something that will go away after the first maintenance.

Thanks for you help guys!

i found out the problem already!

it's actually just my autosoil.. :cheeky: if u c in ur under seat compartment,(the place where u can keep things) bottom right, there's a small hole to drip water out of the compartment(in case rain water gets in). i left my autosoil inside. somehow, it puncture and and gets mix up with water when it rains, n blue liquid flows.(no wonder it only happens when it rains).:faint:

sory sory paiseh!:cheeky:

okok. i have a question, y is there a tic tic tic sound sometimes when we jus finished riding from 1 destination to another. only able to hear it after i off the engine. n it only happens sometimes...

n oh ya, tt guy said in his country they mod it from 140cc to 185cc.. possible? i heard bout the kit from stsoh... but wad n where is the kit????:bouncefire:

about the kit, think about it, if we're riding at 110 and the rpm needle is close to the red line, let's say the kit gives us another 20km, wouldn't the needle enter the red zone???

so you recommend not to do anything to the rubber eh???

i realise i can only get to 110km/h if there's a slope. other than that i'm always stuck on 100km/h. is there any way i can get to 110km/h easier without having to sacrifice my pickup?

Autosol la brader!!! Not autosoil...hehehe....dun get angry la....just correcting mistake...later ppl really go buy autosoil den u noe!

The tic tic sound is due to the radiator.....after all our bikes are oil / air cooled! :cheer:
