Problem free? Hehe.. if you read my postings, u'd understand the little things i go thru with this bike..

Things i changed include bearing replacement for the wheels, front brake kit replacement, chanin and sprocket, tires replacement, brake pads tooo.... poor quality ones wear off faster than you can spell "Choong Kok Agency

Not cos of defects, but general wear and tear.

Honestly, be prepared to set aside on average, around $100 per month on maintenance, and this doesnt include petrol, insurance and road tax.

but the RW is a reliable transport bike. Its a Honda designed engine based on the CG125, and except for perhaps the sprockets engine parts and plastic body, everything else is interchangeable with either Yamaha or Honda aftermarket or Orig parts... so you can expect reliability to this engine.

Can fix RXZ head, or alien headlights. Katana, GSR, Sonic head lights as well.. windshield...

aftermarket sideview mirrors (or those fancy rectangular ones i'm eyeing)

Rear box, side box... Led lights... yoshi full system, and those fancy stuff...

Perhaps the only thing that you cant put on is a tank bra and bag.. havent seen a RW with one..

Again, the RW is a transport bike. Not meant for speed, nor stunts. but you can be assured when you ride over a pebble on the road, while taking a right hand corner at 80km/h, the rw will keep itself on the ground cos of the weight of the bike...

Wow! Didnt know the wear n tear rate is so high... But owning an assured transport bike is good enough for me, cos im not tat ready for v fast speed. Possibly abit faster will be ok thou.. hehe.. :)

i can assure u that this bike is very reliable. it took me all the way home travelling about 400km all the way with no problems at all! haven't changed any parts so far except the engine oil and oil filter. that's about it. Roadwin is one trustworthy bike.

rw is slower than all kups n modern scooters,

coz rw is big n heavy with thick fat tires.

kups r small n light with thin tires.

all scooters with small tires r good in pickup.

if u want pickup to be better, solution is to change sprocket ratio.

for example:

stock sprocket ratio is 14t(front)/42t(rear).

for improvement on pickup, u may want to use 14t/44t or 45t.

u can definitely feel pickup improvements but top cruising speed will drop from 110kph to 103~105kph @ 10,000rpm.

if u buy n pay in full, u can get 3rd party insurance policy which is cheaper.

if u pay installment from shop, u need 3rd party with theft+fire policy

(this is to cover shop risk, also called '2nd party' policy) which will be more expensive.

insurance policy risk r group by age with road experiences.

reading thru this forum, young inexperience rider may expect insur cost:

1st party approx S$1,700.

2nd party approx. S$800.

3rd party approx. S$500.

i'll try to explain;

3rd party coverage - let say u kiss someone rear.

it's your fault, under the law tat u did not kept adequate distance between front vehicle n yourselve.

tat person can claim against your insurance, tat's wat it's called 3rd party coverage.

yourself, u will pay your own damage repairs, medical, hospitalisation fee, etc.

3rd party coverage is to pay the other person involve in the accident when it is your fault.

if it is the other person's fault then u can claim his/her insurance.

2nd party coverage - this is actually 3rd party with additional coverage include theft n fire.

if someone stole your bike (does not cover stolen parts) or your bike caught fire then u can claim against your insurance.

1st party coverage - this cover both yourselve n the other person involve in an accident.

it normally have access damage above certain amount,

let say above S$400 then the insurance will pay if u claim.

otherwise below the amount u have to pay your own.

thx alot.. now i have better understanding of the insurance policy.. most ppl take the 3rd party right.. if i get the 2nd party insurance , let say some1 stole certain parts of my bike. i can still claim frm the insurance company right ?

Posted

i dun think it cover stolen parts, only cover whole bike stolen.

if u want more comprehensive coverage, it will be more expensive.

just like 1st party coverage with damage access exceeding certain amount.

dun think there is any legal aftermarket exhaust system for rw yet.

even though cka is trying to get lta to approve ixil.

it's been so long yet to approve, must have been not successful.

there is a simple mod tat u can do,

remove the db silencer from your oem muffler.

any mod on exhaust system is illegal, do it at your own risk.

hey ! may i know whats the different between rw and rwr ? And the price of each individual . Caught in the middle ! hahaha

Posted

rw is a naked bike, 2004~6 old model with air/oil-cool, carburetor, single-cam, 4-valves engine.

rwR is a sport bike fully cloth with fairings, 2007~8 is the latest model.

it is water-cool, EFI (electronic Fuel Injection), twin-cam, 4-valves engine.

which is more powerful? needless to say it's rwR.

which is more expensive? needless to say it's rwR.

which one to go for (buy)? needless to say it's rwR.
