So my qns are:

1)Will improving e power of e engine prevent another broken bracket?

2)Will e fc of my bike increase afta e new piston n valve?

3)Will I nd to run in e engine afta e repairs? Issit considered as overhaul?

4)How long can my sprocket n chain last b4 i really nd to change?

1) Improving the engine capability reduces the strain and thus less vibration. To certain extend, less vib does induce less strain and stress on the bracket.

2) If you change new piston and valve while other configuration remains the same, FC should remain the same. Unless they configure the carburator to suit the new piston and valve. (Correct me if I'm wrong)

3) If piston and piston rings are changed in the process, then yes you need to run in. Should be able to be considered as overhaul.

4) Depends on the state of the sprocket. If you begin to feel that the wobbling from the bike is getting out of control or uncomfortable, best is you try to ride slower to put less strain on the chain or you change the sprocket.

(Lowering the sprocket teeth gives more high end speed but you lose pick up. It also produces less vib and thus less stress to the bike)

Above are what I'd learnt from internet and frens so far. Please correct me if I'm wrong anywhere and I will definitely learn from my mistake.

Cheers. :thumb:

hey mr. soh, have you tried your new fren brake pads yet? think i need to change my front pads, dont feel like getting oem wondering what aftermarket brand is good. also, is the product size code for my roadwin R the same as roadwin?

yes, currently using it.

so far so good.

it's organic pad, type BS.

Newfren front pad is FD.0130 BS (alt part FD.0250 BS, use on ST1100).

i'm using the alt part, only difference is a notch on the flat edge.

there's no apparent technical problem using it.

Newfren rear pad is FD.0208 BS.

i think rwR uses both same pads for front/rear.

it's either one (not sure which one is it).

price was S$20 per set pad, brought at chong aik@gordon warehouse.

according to ebc catalog,

rw use FA196 for front n FA197 for rear brakes.

rwR uses FA196 for both front n rear brakes.

thanks alot for this. do you happen to know the price and where to purchase these?

last yr went fjt n asked, they dun have.

now they do have??.....btw wat's pad code tat u brought??

is it 014 code as in gf catalog for rw's front??

recently i switch from shell95 to esso5000.

initial start felt lacking in power,

after awhile get use to the performance.

calculated fc improve by 1 km/l,

shell95, fc avg 26~27 km/l.

esso5000, fc avg 28 km/l (avg of 3 tanks).

yep its 014. just installed it today. feel quite good but didnt get to ride much after so cant give a proper review. it cost me $22 and according to fjt its much better than the AD series. although it will need to be replaced more frequently. i use shell 98 and get 33-35km/l =)
