rw top speed is 110kph@10,000rpm (stock) easily.

if sprockets r changed then top speed n acceleration will be affected.

for example, if u use 15t front sprocket;

top speed will increase from 110kph to 118kph n acceleration will slightly reduce.

factors affecting ride, for example:

1) ur body weight is heavy (avg person is 70kg, r u >100kg? reduce weight, go on diet).

2) u didn't change ur air filter (change every 20,000km).

3) ur carb is not properly tuned (overly lean, no power).

5) u didn't replace ur spark plug (change every 8,000km for normal spark plug).

6) u didn't use good engine oil (use rp max-cycle 20w-50 or maxim synblend 20w-50).

7) acceleration cable is not adjusted properly (adjust acceleration screw, it should be parallel to throttle valve cable).

8) ur tires r not inflated to correct pressure (front tire = 29 psi or 200 kpa, rear tire= 32 psi or 220 kpa).

9) use overly sprockets ratio (15t/42t is sufficient, some change the rear sprocket to 40t n then complain no power to accelerate faster).

many many pointers.......

try learn more about motorcycle, not just riding it but find out the mechanical functions/maintenance.

hi uncle soh

can i check with u if u still using battlex tires? how is it? been wanting to change tires due to,

these few days been raining, and it showed my how slippery daelim stock tires are... low speed on white road markings is like asking to crash...

i did a check with cka hq and they said my tires already hardened, thur friction is decreased allowing it to be more slippery.

i was recommended 3 sets of tires, one set is the battlex 140-70, another dunlop 130-70 and another (i think michellin) 150-70 track tires

was advised that the thicker the tire, the heavier it'll be thus pick-up, power and top speed will be affected.

ultimately Roy from cka hq advised me to get the dunlop tires 130-70 as it doesnt hampen the performances so much with its lighter weight.

i was quoted 280 for both the battlex and the dunlop tires. 320 for the 150-70 ones...

i'm having trouble deciding which tires to choose from, either the battlex or the dunlop ones...

hows your exp with the bt-45? did it lower ur performance?

as u all know tat cka sell parts/accessories more expensive than other bike shops.

do shop around for best price.

currently using battlelax bt-45 front 110/70 n rear 140/70 tour sport dual compound tire.

b4 when new was getting use to it n now can feel tat it is a good tire.

haven't ride in wet road yet, so not sure how it's grid on wet road.

price i paid for front/rear tires is S$225.

i think bt-20 is more expensive, so price depends on tire performance/quality.

Is it good? ppl say its not cos its Korean made. gives prblms, spare parts diff.etc etc.

need ur honest review please...

thx uncle soh, care to share which shop u got the tires from? and does the weight of the tire affect the bike's performance? if so, by how much? is it a very noticable diff or just a slight diff?

thx again uncle soh

i got my tires along changi road, one of those old shop (hoping tat their overhead is not high, so tat they wun charge too much for labour).

u can check with LAB coz they r the cheapest, then of course u dun expect good workmanship.

battlelax tires r good compared to the old one (which was metzeler me-1, not the high-end tire metzeler m-1).

weight of the tire, i'm not sure about it.

traction-wise, i'm more confident when going around corners now.

at first when it was new, comparing to old metzeler, it does feels like turning in corner too quick.

maybe it's the wax layer, need to do slow ride for 100km for tire to break-in.

now am more confident coz can feels traction of the soft DCT (dual compound layer thread) on the tire.

hows roadwin top speed and the fc?

top speed for stock rw is 110kph@10,000rpm.

fc depends on how heavy ur throttle twisting r.

low = 30~33km/l (if traveling speed not exceeding 80kph, not rushing, slowly accelerate to moderate cruising speed, light throttling, coasting down to stop).

high = 26~28km/l (heavy throttling, speeding, rushing from point A to B, heavy braking).

arite thx uncle soh!

so anyone else have tried after market tires? opinions?

is it me or is this thread dying? where all the roadwinners!!!

most sillyporean when they see or talk about korean products, first thing in their mind is: it's not as good as japanese product.

they do forget tat all japanese products r made in china, thailand, india n mostly in third world countries, their qualities r compromised.

if u compare parts quality of daelim to honda, daelim wins.

most parts like tires, battery, light bulbs, horn, sprockets, chain, brake pads, spark plug, etc can be brought from any bike shops, they r common consumables.

engine parts only can be brought from cka - daelim agent.

consumables such as oil filter n air filter need to buy from cka.

all bikes either daelim, kymco, sym, honda, kawa, suzuki, yamaha, etc will have their own problems.

so far i been riding rw for six yrs, will be riding it for the next 14 yrs till end of coe, coz i simply luv to ride it.

buy the bike u luv most n not wat ppl tell u it's good or not.

different ppl have different likes n dislikes, tat's why we r different.

here r some minor faults:

it's big n heavy.

it's slow n thirsty.

it's vibs heavily.

to some it might be more expensive.

[one more to add: riding posture.

many find difficulty in riding it due to carpel tunnel syndrome. wat this mean is when riding, most will put their body weight on the handle. this will press on the hand nerve tissue, thus cut off blood supply to ur hand. after awhile hand will feel numb but there is a technique on how riding posture is.]

in my opinion:

it's the best bike tat i ever owned.

just come back from muar...

riding on the highway there is so shiok...

the rw feels more responsive when it gets stable with the speed and condition,

mantained speed of 100-110, and first time i get it over 120..

did not manage to change my stock sprocket set up before the trip as intend to drive up,

but car gave up on me as it need to be repaired b4 the trip...

overall experience, shiok feeling the wind of cool air from the morning mist..

lesson learnt, be more prepared for the trip, more safety gear, be as visible as possible..

cant wait for more riding up north...

ixili end can if im not mistaken.. maybe wrong spelling... all cka branches have it.. goin for 700+... moriaki end can and full sstem not legal.. but can also get from cka...

and to add to earlier post,

daelim does have after market parts.

like simota air filters if im not mistaken... can get from cka, or also chong aik.

and if i not wrong, the roadwin engine is based on the honda cg125 engine, so should be quite reliable.

my 2cents worth :)

rw engine design is not base on honda cg125.

rw engine design r more advance up2date technology, cg125 use old tech 70's engine.

rw has a 4-valves high tech engine compare to cg125 2-valves old tech engine.

rw has higher compression 10.5:1 ratio compare to cg125 low compression 9:1 ratio.

rw stock produce 11 horsepower whereas cg125 produce 9 horsepower.

rw reliable engine is based on daystar engine which has been in the market much longer period.

daelim is sub-contractor for honda motorcycle, produce spare parts for honda small bike models.

one of the largest motorcycles n scooters manufacturer in korea.

u can push start the bike with weak battery.

here's how to push start ur bike:

1) clutch-in ur clutch n hold on (do not release).

2) swift to second gear.

3) start pushing ur bike (best if road is slightly inclined).

4) as pushing bike pickup momentum (few meters), release clutch to engage engine.

5) once the engine started, clutch-in the clutch n hold then swift to neutral.

ride to cka for repair, chances is not just the battery.

it can be ur stator coil not charging the battery.

guys,

just change chain and sprocket. my old sprocket setting was 15/43. now given stock ones which are 14/42.

wanted to change front back to 15, but cka hq advise against, reason being that new chain and new rear sprocket should not go with old front sprocket. they say its risky.

any comments? can i change back the front sprocket to 15 or do i have to stick to stock?

dun use old sprockets with new chain.

sprockets n chain r precisely machine pitch to match n run on each others.

using old sprockets can damage ur new chain due to worn out pitch.

if u want to use 15t front sprocket why not buy a new one?? since u already got new chain n rear sprocket.

our bike uses 428 pitch sprockets n chain.

front sprockets comes in different teeth like 13t, 14t, 15t n 16t.

rear sprockets comes in different teeth like 39t, 40t, 41t, 42t.....46t, etc.

chain come in different length as in links, our bike chain is 130 links.

thx uncle soh,

with 15/43, i got a top speed of 120kph at 10rpm.

with 14/42, not yet try top speed, but can feel slightly more power + pick up.

any idea what 15/42 will produce?

and where can i get a new 15t front sprocket? how do i check the 428 pitch thing?

my old 15t sprockethas "15 - 1523" engaved on it. i understand the 15, but whats with the 1523?

u can buy it at any bike shop, it's common part.

cheapest is at LAB but DIY.

how to compare sprocket ratio, for example: rear sprocket divide by front sprocket = ratio.

42t/14t=3.00 (best pickup speed, lots of vibs at top rpm)

45t/15t=3.00

44t/15t=2.9333 (currently i'm using this setup)

43t/15t=2.8667

42t/15t=2.8000 (best top speed going downhill, poorer pickup speed)

stock sprockets 14t/42t (ratio = 3.0) which is the best but at top rpm also vibs alot, speedometer show 110 kph @ 10,000 rpm.

sprockets 15t/t42t (ratio = 2.8).

it's a balance btwn top n pickup speed.

lesser vib at top rpm, harder to rev up to 120 kph @ 10,000 rpm.

Posted

ps: dun worry about the 428 pitch, bike shop mech will know when they see it.

smaller bikes 50~100cc use 420 pitch sprockets n chain.

cl2b bikes 125cc use 428 pitch sprockets n chain, some more power bike might use 520 pitch.

cl2a bikes 250~400cc use 520 pitch sprockets n chain.

cl2 bikes 600~>1000cc use 525 or 530 pitch sprockets n chain.

saw this really nice looking Alpinestars saddlebag selling for RM200 and i wonder if it can fit on the daelim. would be awesome if it could.

nice, it's universal mount.

check is whether it touches the muffler or not.

why not get tank-top bag?

rw tank is plastic, most tank-top bag r with magnets so it wun stick.

get those with strap type tank-top bag.

put on a top box, it's more secure n dun have to carry around.
