you know...each time when you change your engine oil, request the mechanic to keep one bottle of old engine oil for you. Each month, you just use a brush and dip that old engine oil then paint over it. It help remove those dirt and wun hurt your o ring also.

old engine oil can have corrosive contaminants in suspension, it is designed that way to keep the insides of the engine clean. It is a bad idea.

As suggested by Saniboy, use diesel (or kerosene), clean one time thoroughly, then use a high quality chain wax, spray as little as you can get away with, but making sure it is directed at the O rings. A little should go into the rollers too. Subsequently, use a seal friendly multi purpose spray, like GT85, to occasionally wipe off lube that has migrated to the outer side of the chain links, where it serves no purpose except waiting to eventually fling off onto your rim.

the chain cleaner make u look good and pro at a price. kerosene or turpentine does the job as effective at a lower price.

Guys,

I know that u all wask ur chain and spocket using diesel or petrol rite? But I am wondering the dripping of diesel or petrol will not damage the tyre? The O ring or X ring chain will not be damage?

How u all wash? wet the chain and spocket with diesel or petrol then warp with cloth? Or use a brush and brush off everything?

After cleaning.. immediatly apply chain lube?

My rear spocket is gold in colour... now is black liao... see liao so sian.. my X ring also is 100% black in color liao.. (Coz the lube i am using is dark grey in colour...) After finish this bottle.. I am going to change to Putoline lube and wash everything clean.. Nid advise...

Regards,

James

i use kerosene.... use a spray can to spray on the chain then use paint brush to brush.... should come off quite easily... then use soap and water to rinse before oiling it...

Actually if u in the army use the breakfree oil from the armskote also can. Cheap cheap can "take" from armskote!!! hahaha!:cheer:

I had my 1st wash today..had a hard time trying to clean the rim. The more i clean, the more dirty it becomes...the lube...until my friend recommend me use WD40. It works.. But will it harm the paint work of the rim? How do you clean the chain? Use a piant brush to brush it off? You mean take out the whole chain?

Who would want to take up the trouble removing the chain?

Mechanic also dun do that siah....

Watever the methods are, i think there are a lot of good feedbacks and info by some of us in the threads before this.

BUT 1 think to take note....Never, ever use WD-40 for chain.

It's fast-dry....can SNAP your chain while riding.

:bounce: I used petrol to wash my chain monthly. First cut the bush into half as this way the brush will be harder, than dip the brush into the petrol than start brushing your chian to remove the unwanted grease. This will take sometime but the end result is great. After that i usually wash it with clean water as i have a hose than finally i will oil it agian and leave it overnight before riding so as to let the oil get to lube the chian, If you start to ride immediatly u will only cause the oil to stay on the rims instead

Brother Draught for me I use degreaser to spray on the chains and rims. For the chain I will be using those unwanted toothbrush and brush away all the excess dirt on it. After that I will use chain wax to lubricate the chain. Do not use chain lube as it will make ur rims dirty, instead use chain wax as it will stick on the chain like glue. TRY IT and you will have the pleasure of looking at ur clean rims and chain/.:goodluck: :goodluck: :goodluck: Alamak forget to tell you the chain wax is from Castrol and costed me rm$21.

buy kerosene and pour into those spray can that ppl use to spray flower 1. Spray on the chain and then use paint brush to brush through.. all the dirt will easily come off.

Using breakfree oil can clean and oil also. Just use the brush with breakfree and brush through your chain, dirt will also come off easily. You can try... confirm GOOD! but must wash abit after cleaing cause it might cause fling if there is too much excess oil.
