another video by captain cropper:sian:

read the comments part. He actually mention that even a 12mm chain from hardware shop is much better then any cable u can buy. To cut a cable lock, u just need a pair of scissor onward according to him.

there a reason why cable is soft, light and flexible. Well, it is soft and thin to make that happen. Make sense?

Ya lor. I think I only get paranoid when in Johor and KL area. Use chains la, padlocks la, disc locks la, alarm la. Other places I am more relax haaha.

I decided to buy the xena disc lock for additional security when riding oversea.

1. no need to cut any wire for installation

2. wont drain the bike battery

3. compact to carry

4. transferable to other bike

If I got insurance I dun mind u stealing as I am covered. I rather u stole my bike than left me with a damaged bike.

Its the hassle, imagine your bike lost in a foreign land. stranded in a ulu place and you don't speak the local language.

It's been proven that a Bike Cover deters 70% of Bike Theft... Out of sight... Out of mind...

The exhaust pipe will melt the bike cover, unpractical.

As I always practice, I will cover the bike 30min to 1 hour after it has cool down a bit. As I said before, many may not agree with my methods, or even kena shoot back. Its a practice of mine till it becomes so auto that it is now a habit of mine. I will only cover my bike with canvas when at work or at home.

DO NOT COVER WHEN THE BIKE IS HOT. These words are usually written on well known branded canvases. It is true that if no theft see wat is on the bike, he will not be tempted to steal them. As such it is also not 100% steal proof. At least it does not tempt people.

I stayed a few blocks away from my car park, going back to cover my bike after one hour probably the bike may have got stolen by the time I go to cover it, furthermore leaving it unprotected for an hour in foreign land then hoping to eliminate temptation using canvas to cover it up is unrealistic. I think it's going to invite more attention with the canvas. Try covering your bike in JB city square with canvas only and see what happens. The canvas is bulky and difficult to store its get worse if its rains.

Risk is reduce by 50% if you do some precaution (locks, alarm) to prevent it from being stolen, but you choose to do nothing, then you deserved it.

But if you crashed your bike and cannot be ridden then you are just unlucky.

In Singapore those canvas are highly unlikely to get stolen. Anyway I will leave with this malay quote "Hendak Seribu Daya, Tak Hendak Seribu Dalih".

chances of getting your bike stolen can be greatly reduced if you take precaution.

the problem is alot of folks just do a search on google and think it not possible as they read some website from countries like UK and USA where people use big bolt cutter and carry the bike away in van.

in every country, the situation is different. i not saying in malaysia there isn't thief using big bolt cutter or taking the bike away in van. most thief will only have tools enough to defeat the general anti-theft protection used in their country. so the trick is to use something better then what the general population is using and you stand a good chance of having your bike with you by the end of the day.

people will always say a determine thief can get to any bike. the correct saying should be a determine thief can always get a bike but it doesn't have to be yours.

the goal is not to have a theft-proof defense as that is not possible. we should try to make our bike theft-unworthiness by making the thief think it better to move on to the next target then spending time to get yours. using a multi-tier approach is much more ideal as the thief might not be prepare to defeat 3 or 4 different kinds of locks, alarm or other means.

of course, the higher the value or uniqueness of your bike, the more difficult it is to attain that. it should come to a point of asking yourself can it be done or it is worth taking the risk.

1. Hawk XT-50(UK) - basic function with immobilizer

2. Xena disc lock alarm.

Option down to 2 choice, Cyclone V2 quality quite bad from some reviews. The Gorilla 8007 shopping charges is too expensive, I can save the money to get a Xena disc lock.

as one bro said, if the thief really wanna steal, he will. he will just watch and wait for you to start the engine, here he comes either he cuts you, instead of the locks or he just pull the trigger and put a few holes into you, instead of ideas and off he goes with your valuables and bike.

just my 2 cents, cheers :)
