the sad truth...

Don't get offended, I was just trying to describe how common the bike is. Throw a stone any direction also can hit one....

Denden,

Don't keep on throwing stones lah. Be more creative. Throw things like bolts, nuts, screws, spanners, screwdrivers, wrenches, helmets and stuff like that.

Like that more creativity.

Wow...

Sure can be a good Ah Beng rider. One finger in the mouth and middle finger in the nose. If you need further development on the young rider, you can approach Denden. I believe Denden can train him further.

:D :D :D

albert>> not many ppl know how well our 400s and 650s are fairing against s4... must advertise..

now can really say tat s4 is a gutless and boring bike, esp when u wanna maintain ur fuel consumption.

compare that to the fun we have as we trash our twins through the streets. we can still maintain our fuel consumptions...

fun and economical, sv wins s4 anytime...

when overseas, how many s4 can ta han until ayer keroh petrol station from gp esso one shot while maintaining 160 to 190km/h?

can only say tat sv can, and have more to spare despite having a 16 litre tank (while s4 has an 18 litre tank).

sv rulez... :cheeky:

imho, I dont very agree with this.

What makes you say that s4 is a gutless and boring bike ?

It's a very durable and reliable bike which are commonly found in singapore.

No offense, but your above post are peppered with criticize.

I Believe every bike make and model have their own pros and cons.

If not, try quoting above in s4 section and see what feedback you will receive .

First of all, you can never compare a low-mid torque twin engine with a high revving inline4 engine.

Total 2 different specification.

When you expect more power on road, surely you have to compromise on fuel consumption.

And I guess there are many s4 around including my previous one are able to reach ayer keroh or maybe even seremban on a tank at your specified travelling speed.

Stock condition of cause.

Fun + Economical , I guess its up to individual to judge.

As for myself

Never regreted owning the s4 which brought me to many nice places.

Cheers

Those hand signals are meant for rude road users who bully bikers. Not to be use on relatives. That's part of the syllabus, I believe.

wat to do? s4 is always the guideline for making comparisons.. this is singapore, bo bian.

makes ppl wonder y sv650s or sv650 are selling so well in europe, us or australia.

tokking about engine concepts, we all know wat v-twins or in-line 4s are good at...

which is y i want to try a triple so much.. it should sthg in between the other 2 engine concepts.. thus providing more torque for the streets and still have high bhp for top speed.. :cheer:

Err... sorry huh, I think what Hart said is a matter of fact. I used to think wah S4 very good bike, until I got my sv. My ex riding partner rides a S4 and we spar each other up quite oftenly. I don't know how many times I had mentioned this but here I go again.

Maintainence:

Spark Plug, SV - 2, S4 - 4

Engine oil, Sv - 2.3L, S4 - 3.XL

Rectifier, SV - 3.5years, S4 - depending on which model. Ver. S I heard once a year.

Air filter - all same ok?

Tire wear, the sv650 is better than s4, based on BT010, find out more about the big bang theory for the motogp bikes.

Chain - Mine 4yrs plus still using, s4 dunno, my friend gave up riding.

Fuel consumption:

SV650 - 21km/l NS highway, city, all same. S4 - varies

Insurance:

Sv650 (bigger cc plus fairing) same as S4, by NTUC

But most importantly, its the power delivery. You can call us Suzuki man or V-twin man. All I can say is, after you ride a V-twin, you find say the same about in-line 4. I reluctantly have to shift my colleage's s4 from time to time, dun know what the bike is trying to do, no sound one. I even feel more comfortable with phantom's engine.

Lastly, I go multi-storey car park, I don't have to see the number plate to recognise my own bike. No need to zhng already special.

But spare parts and quality mechanics is a issue.

Follow the herd, be a sheep. Boring.

Now got to be politically correct.... both are good bikes, just that one can do the other can't.

This is another good bike in my opinion.

Most important is..... World Peace

I think the debate will be endless for individual bike make and model.

I am not trying to do a comparison between both bikes.

Frankly speaking, You cant compare the rate of wear and tear like this as it differ from individual riding style and type of usage.

Not until you really own one before you really consider it as a boring bike.

Realiability, you already found the answr at every mscp.

It still have its own share of fun which people might not know how to appreciate until you really own it.

I believe every one of us here has a different concept of 'good bike' and 'boring bike' .

I almost brought a SV650 before i got my current twin. The SV650s a good bike to me yet the super4 is another good bike to me in another way. 2 different bikes from different classes.

It s an endless debate i would say.

Hi guys, I've been following this topic regards to SV vs S4 issue and I do encourage different opinions and feedbacks about the two diff models.

Like my fellow mod here as I quoted said, "The debate is endless" precisely because there are different pros and cons between the two models. And people ride different model bikes because of different reasons some personal, financial or just plain preferential.

By following this thread I have also learnt many things regarding the SV and pls DO keep up the sharing of technical specs or difference in technical specs between the two models.

However, let's just keep it as feedback alright guys and not give labels to either models as it may lead to unnecessary replies.

Personally I am riding an S4 Spec 2 and why this is my ride:

1) It suits me financially as of now cos buying another bike means need to fork out another lump of $$.

2) The power delivery is sufficient for me at the moment however the itch to own a bigger cc bike gets bigger by the day.

3) I trust a Honda Engine.

4) Parts are widely available should I need them and I can share amongst my S4 friends.

5) I can change the setup of my S4 to touring mode, for track as well as for normal road use.

Why I might buy an SV:

1) 2 spark plugs instead of 4

2) I would want to feel the difference of the V-twin engine

3) The insurance cost of the SV650 around the same as my current Honda 400cc

4) To be different and unique?

I hope that there would be no labels in future posts such as

Follow the herd, be a sheep. Boring.

Let's keep the discussion label-free shall we?

Regards,

Manzz

Think thrice before buying the SV, the downside being reselling.

Look at the blue one selling for 4k.... that fella has been trying to sell since long ago, still no takers.

Push a S4 into a bike shop easily, try asking them to accept an SV.

I'll still NOT ride an S4. It's everywhere!!! Boring bike I find.

BUT, give it to someone who'll ride to Cambodia, then you'll appreciate the reliablity.

Can't believe myself, so politically correct.
