hmm...i placed my iu on the left side of my forward controls where my foot is. thou its so low, it still managed to get scanned whenever i go thru a gantry. i do make it a point to slow down when i go thru the gantry.

its only at the carparks that use the iu that it cant be scanned. its easily solved by juz slotting in the card at the machine.

I used to have my IU on the left side, was fine for gantry, but my office switched to IU to open their gate so was a i hassle so moved to right side. Prob solved. I was worried that being close to exhaust would melt it but no prob so far.

Off to LTA this morning, it is a hassle. Tried calling to see if they would just clear me as a bad card as well (its pretty chewed up). She said couldnt, but prob something she did not understand in any case.

Does anyone run with progressives 412s 11"? I have the heavey duty version on my FXDC, like how it really lowered the bike and also have the front pro springs as well. But now my ride is stiffer in heck at the sofest setting.

I should have gone with the normal 412s. So checking if anyone has them and how they like it? I am about 90kg, so thought would be too heavy with normal ones. Am heading to states in Sep so thinking of buying another set of 412 (less then $150) or go on to something else.Still, better than OEM shocks.

Thanks,

The XR1200 are nice bikes, especially for Singapore traffic. Once broken in, can take up to Malaysia and really open her up!

The machine price compared to a Jap cruiser of similar cc is say about maybe $5000 ( 25% ) more.

But the killer part for me is the parts replacement / acessories cost.

I saw ......like 4 screws for $35 dollars, 2 brake handles for $150.

1997 TZR 125 - 1998 FZ 150 - 1999 GSXR 400K - 1999 RX 100 - 2000 LC 125 - 2001 TZR 125 - 2002 CB 400 Ver S - 2006 CBR 929 - 2006 GETZ 1.4 - 2009 STEED 400 - 2016 ???

Riders ride to work. Drivers work to drive.

Hey Dnish

i bought the normal 12.5" 412's for the xlh. Its currently set on the highest stiffness, and yes its pretty stiff. If i reduce the stiffness even one notch, the tire scraps the inside of the fender, as the rear tire is 18" instead of the stock 16". on hindsight, i shld have gotten the heavy duty ones. but they're definetely more comfortable as compared to oem.

my dad weighs around the same as you do, thus i think the normal 412's are enough. If im not wrong they're good for up to 200 pounds.

and 412's are so cheap? i paid almost US $200, excl shipping :faint:

if it feels ok then ok. just cruising should be fine but if you wanna sudden push, rpm too low, your engine will knock like mad. It's like cycling up hill on a high gear.

Last time, I cruise on highway at 4th gear cos 5th gear only rides comfortably at 90km/h and above. way above speed limits. no rpm meter somemore.

have serviced the carb already, but doesn't solve it.

from xlforums they were saying a Crank Position Sensor issue with 04 and up sporties with error code P0374, which came up during my diag.

Gotta get it replaced.

I had a 05 XL883C previously. Same symptoms. I did mess around with my carb for awhile before I saw the same info regarding the Crank Position Sensor online.

Popped by the dealership during lunchtime, got one and replaced it in a couple of mins (it's plug and play.

Problem solved.

Thanks, am thinking of changing to a wider 180 tire when I go for a replacement so prob need the stiffer shocks so that the wheel doesnt hit the fender. Guess just need to watch out for those pot holes. I bot then online and had them shipped to parents place in states so carried them back to save shipping. I go back once a year so have a lot of shopping on line before hand!

On my 96ci, I can cruise at 90 km at about 2200-2500 rpm in 5th and it seems to run fne, just downshift to pass. I rarely go into 6th unless go into Malaysia. I think at 120 in 6th, around 3k as well.

Check first whether ther will drill holes in your bars for internal wiring. Am assuming they are not predrilled as they would have already done internal. Not sure if Harley will drill as legal issues. Otherwise, if dont have to buy parts, just labor costs which should not be too bad.
