I've just heard a 49 states, its nice but I've no idea how to find it online. There's no websites for whatsoever and hardly any information bout it. Any ideas where to start?

That's wat they use to maintain the batt during the winter, a batt tender. Actually tats the brand, it just another popular batt charger/maintenance device. Just google it and u will see : )

49ers are OEM exhuast. sportsters with production dates 2004 - 2006 comes with 49 states exhaust. pre 2004 sportsters have 48 states. Sportster after 2006 comes with 50 states, california states included, that are those exhaust with cats in them.

 

among these era of OEM exhausts, the 49 states has more bass and mellow low rumble, after you have the baffles removed. hope this helps

This my friend, is really enlightening for me. Mine's 06 so I guess the stock one is 49 states? Too bad I don't have the stock ones. So its the same as buying an OEM stock 04 - 06 exhaust?

 

What about SE? They're also part of HD right? Hope someone can shed some light on this.

if your bike is production date 06 and below, your bike should be era of the rubber mount sportster and yes, the stock OEM exhaust is 49 states.

 

no problem if you cant get a 49 state, you can still get a 50 state OEM exhaust for sportster, send to sunburst for both cat and baffle to be removed...think is around S$260..if you have the 49 state, removal of baffle is around S$60 cause removal of baffle from 49 state is a straight forward thing.

 

50 state exhaust is softer in sound and not as bassy as the 49 state but still loud enough. Its only when beside a 49 states that you can hear the difference

 

SE exhaust is considered an after market exhaust, in the eyes of LTA, this is not an approved exhaust but if your SE has the harley davidson wording instead of the screaming eagle wording, some test center inspectors may close both eyes and let you off

thanks indeed for shedding light on the 49states exhaust mystery, i just bought a 2008 super glide which seller claims it's a 49state exhaust, sounds like a harley should, so i am ok with it.

 

But thinking about the LTA inspection, be great if i can borrow a set of stock muffler from any dyna riders out here just for the inspection, anyone able to help me out?

 

First thing on my list is to move the ugly IU that is now sitting on the handle, any idea on this?

Ahahaha yah. Been in the west for 20 years! I'm looking for stock exhausts now. Wanna temporary ride with stock until the "hype" dies down ... but it's gonna sound like crap :(

my sportster due for inspection..its been almost 3 years since i got it brand new and this will be the 1st time i going to mute the exhaust..this will be the 1st time i hear it in its stock exhaust sound, all for the sake of inspection..:sian:
