You are always well covered when we meet up,

I didn't know you uses so much steroids. :p

You properly had developed some breast by now.

I am a sports mediciine practictitioner, allow me to inspect you ... :p

I'm sorry to disappoint u man... I only allow attractive specimens of the female human species to inspect my body... Actually I prefer to do the inspection but anything goes...haha

Anyways... I was with my friend in his car earlier on... When he got stopper by lta for exhaust. I had a conversation with the lta officer and apparently there is no increase of fines for modified exhaust. First time 500. Second time 500. Third time court. Still hefty n scary to me tho.

No hope is best hope.

Definitely has a good market for SG Harley approved exhaust.

latest news, the akra for sporty should be approved shortly after CNY, fingers crossed...

in principle all is okay but LTA has requested akra dealer to bring a demo bike with the exos for the final approval. :)

that means akra for dyna should be approved too right? since the reason for them failing initially is the same as sporty.

Hi bro James,

Thanks for the compliment. My sentiments are inspired by your long but heartfelt post earlier. That night, I was so touched and at the same time saddened by your narration that I had to do something. I'm not as passionate as some of you guys, but yes owning a Harley has always been my dream. I've owned from the Honda Custom 125, Phantom, Scramblers like XR200, Scooters like X8 and X9 and Silverwing, Super4 and Fazer 600. In summary, I love the journeys I take on my bikes. It's not about the destination. I do own a car, but let my wife drive it most of the time. You can call me a biking enthusiast.

I recently bought a Harley FLD Switchback 2012. My love for the Harley started about 5 years ago when I was on business trip in San Francisco. I managed to rent a Road King and took a rood trip from SF to Monterrey along the pacific highway. Man.... that was a dream! I always was fascinated by the Harley.... but bro.. riding with the pacific ocean view... dudes... that was the bomb.

Anyway.... did research to see what I can do with my Switchback... in short, in Singapore nada.... just some cosmetics... I am very satisfied with the performance and look of my Harley don't get me wrong... but the roar???? hmmm... I think a Japanese cruiser can sound and run better... mine's a 1690 cc 103 engine. I almost bought the V&H 2-1 exhaust from Twins but after reading the posts here... I had to exchange that for a rack and backrest instead (ooops, shouldn't put it here... from now on... I'm gonna be blacklisted by LTA and watched closely heheheh).

So I share your pain... in a lesser way.. but I do. I can live with what I have.. but imagine paying almost 40K for a dream that whimpers instead of roaring.... :(

I just hope LTA allows us a forum to talk it out. I want to listen to what they have to say, but they really have to do something about this... We're in modern times man..

BTW.. look at the article below mine :Visibility boosters: Why the different rules?"... a car owner also complaining about double standards authorities have.. good that they put it all in the same day... Also today's NewPaper Pg4 also shedding some questions on LTA's operations... the VW car with supposed illegal plates and headlamp lenses.... Hope really LTA can come out to explain...

I don't post often... I read a lot... but in this matter..i'm with you. Anytime I can spare to talk on behalf of the group.. I will... I'm not a lawyer or politician.. just a regular IT guy.... but I feel that LTA are marginalizing riders as a whole with personal agendas, and lack of understanding.. they're just follow rules and convention.... And they really have to update their thinking and policies.... Lorries, trucks, taxis and other bikes... they sound louder and emit more smoke.... even the construction work outside my place and the buses and trucks cleaning the pavements in the morning are more irritating that our pipes... haiz...

And a word to HD Singapore... you guys are crap!!! You just sit in the showroom and do nothing... organize trips and rub elbows with the rich and famous... how about giving back to the rest of the Harley community where it matters man???!!!

Cheers bros....

I am humbled that my narration touched you. If you had not written in, I would have done so in due time. No one wants to take the initiative and you my brother, have taken a big step in voicing out what many here have felt. I really hope something positive comes out of this and if it does, you should be proud that you had played an important part. If it doesn't, at the very least we tried. My appreciation and respect for you cannot be accurately reproduced in words on this forum.

With regards to the Honda owner write, what he says is very true. People are feeling very angry and oppressed because of the increased enforcement. Not to say increased enforcement on anything is a bad thing but the increased enforcement on minor infringements are really a PITA when you see so much more other vehicles with major infringements on the road. The rich can afford to keep a vehicle with major infringements and come out when there is less likely chances of getting pulled over. So what happens in the end is us poor dudes who ride everyday getting penalized for the smallest infringements. But the point is, what in reality is a visual or aesthetic enhancement or upgrade is often mistaken for an infringement by the authorities. Of course one can argue that in Singapore, street lamps are really everywhere and there is no need for visual enhancement, but then again our vehicles are also used to travel to our neighbouring countries, where lighting at every nook and corner is simply impossible. As such, ironically, while enforcing on such enhancement infringements simply because there is a rule somewhere that says it is so, the authorities have effectively made the vehicles not as safe to be used in our neighbouring countries.

Being riders on smaller machines, we need to be as visible and (reasonably) audible as possible in order to be safe. Same goes for cars with LED. Nothing wrong if it is reasonable and not blinding. The world is changing rapidly in every sense. Technology is always advancing and why can't someone with an older machine, or stock machine, change some parts out to update it? What is the point and what does the authority want to achieve eventually? This is the biggest question on my mind really. I would love to hear what LTA has to say and if they maintain their stand with valid reasons and it is convincing, I will gladly comply. I am complying now, just not so happy with being compliant. That's not against the law isn't it?

Once again, thank you!

Actually, with these 3 articles and some of the technical and emotional reasonings from this forum(don't worry I won't quote sources), I would like to bring this to my MP... not to say he's going to do anything about it.. but I want some official representation... it's now not about just Harleys or cars... it's about the rationale and reasoning behind this feverish step up in enforcement. It's not going to stop fatalities or accidents... in fact it hasn't... so why can't LTA just expand the coverage of what can be done in terms of vehicle 'enhancement' not modification? I agree with you jamez.. visibility on the roads for us 2-wheelers is really critical. Loud horns and HID lights do really make me feel and ride safer. I know that I have these to make sure that other road users are aware I am there. And signature loud pipes... haiz.... can't say I blame some of other people complaining about the loudness though. Some bikers just want to make sure whole of Singapore can hear them by revving incessantly, more than just what is required.

Ya... hopefully something good happens out of this... hopefully it's not going to be a situation where they just clamp up and not respond :( Maybe they've got better and more important things now... like making sure vehicles are parked on allotted lots and not obstructing other road users :D hheehehehe....

From the Straits Times....

http://www.straitstimes.com/STForum/Story/STIStory_755363.html

I AM a proud owner of a Harley-Davidson motorcycle and read recently that the Land Transport Authority (LTA) has stepped up enforcement action against Harley bikes for modifications, especially the loud signature exhausts.

While regulations are important, the LTA should communicate clearly on legal and unsanctioned modifications for premium motorcycles like Harley-Davidson or Ducati.

It is frustrating to find out that enhanced options which are brought in by the manufacturers themselves are considered illegal.

Although I agree that some modifications endanger lives and the environment, I do not think that a Harley fitted with an after-market exhaust is any louder or more environmentally unfriendly than a Ferrari with a factory-fitted exhaust.

These products have had to go through stringent testing and certification before the manufacturers can sell them. Ruling that a modification is illegal because it is 'not factory or manufacturer fitted', 'not to manufacturer specifications' or because it 'will endanger the environment', without a detailed explanation, is wrong.

At the very least, programmes with vehicle dealers - to help them legalise enhanced equipment at a lower cost and with much less archaic and bureaucratic processes - would help.

Owners of premium motorcycles are no different from luxury car buffs. We want our vehicles to look and sound good. There are ways to find a balance between the law and making a motorcycle look and sound as it truly should.

I was told the baffles or some valve thingy was optional for dyna and sportster. so people can easily remove it and make the bike loud. The manufacturer has to permanent fix the part in the exhaust to make it legal.

What was the reason?

Thank you guys! You are indeed a voice for us! Salute to Mr Dian Iskandar Ali and Jamez! I cant agree more on both ur views. Its one thing to illegally modify/tamper with original part and another on using original manufacturers' products.
