Haha, ya it's at the work shop but i don't know what would be necessary to put it in "proper condition", so gotta try my luck and ask the mechanic at the shop to start it now and then..

 

I think you can look it up on google, eg. removing the battery, draining the engine oil (?)

Anyway, I was at the lights next to a stunning white RC8 (with a brunette male just in case some of you might know him..) and watched with envy as he sped away very very f*ing quickly from the lights while I trailed on my Vespa GTS300. Is there any chance the Monster 696 could keep up at least till 100kmh? Just a question to the riders out there on this bike long enough to have maybe raced from the lights with similar sport bikes.. haha

Anyway on a side note, who's the yellow FR plate M400 I saw today at NUH? Wearing a black FF helmet. I was riding my Vespa instead of the Ducati, so you probably wouldn't have noticed me! Wanted to say hi but you were going the opposite direction from me.

Hey qeith, your post seem to suggest you own a vespa and a ducati too? AND you are studying at NUS now? I'm from arts and riding the white GTS300, haha.. I didn't notice any ducati in school before.. Will keep a look out now..

Hi guys, I'm rather new to Ducati but I may consider getting myself one, can I just ask if there are any riders out there with a S4Rs?

 

I'd like to have a little more 'knowledge' of what I'm delving into before I commit to a Ducati. Any help would be great! Thanks!

What's the maintainance cost like per 5000km or something? Are parts easy to come by and is the dry clutch reliable?

 

How about insurance? Are they considered sports bike or street bikes? I'm 22 this year.

No more brand new I think acc to the price list. There are a few second hand at good price.

 

Maintenance cost $65 for semi syn oil change and oil filter at 5K

$450 +- for valve clearance and oil change at 10K

$700 ++ for valve clearance, belt change, spark plug, oil change, coolant flush at 20K. Price varies at workshop, very different at agent's. haha.

 

Dry clutch reliably noisy if clutch plates worn. They last approx 20K if not abused and good brand plates, if not much less. After washing bike better spin dry if not rust occurs on friction plates.

 

Parts to modify/spare and clutch plates readily available on US and EU ebays. Many sellers for S4RS parts.

 

S4RS is a street bike with sport bike engine. Shiok man. Right hand sure cramp, always blasting. Reserve light comes on very quickly with spirited riding ~ 150km light on.

If you're riding through the rain there isn't a problem since the bike is running. If you leave it out in the rain...well why the hell would you leave an S4RS out in the rain without a cover?

 

As for insurance, just call the insurance companies directly for a quote.

You can leave it closed clutch cover. Rain never mind. Just that MOST dry clutch owners will have itchy hands to mod it to open carbon clutch covers with bling pressure plates, funky coloured springs etc.

 

If I were you, I would not buy 3rd party insurance only for a $20K+ S4RS. If comprehensive will be in the $1XXX and up mark. TPFT also my guess at least $1K+ for your age and experience most likely.

I have these parts for sale as I no longer own the Ducati Monster 696.

 

1: Rizoma license plate holder - fits 696/1100 (mint condition) selling @ $250

2: DP Touring Seat - fits 696/1100 (mint condition) selling @ $250

3: DP Tail Bag - fits 696/1100 (mint condition) selling @ $250

4: R&G Frame Protector (new & unused) selling @ $120

5: R&G Front Fork Sliders (new & unused) selling @ $40

6: R&G Rear Swingarm Sliders (new & unused) selling @ $40
