Matthew, the repair cost isn't as expensive as you think it is.

Just get a complete alternator set (flywheel + stator coil) from an 05 10R from EBAY or forums and swap it over to yours. It's not even difficult and only requires the disassembly of your clutch/transmission system to install the alternator unit.

USD $150 should see the part arriving to you, good luck finding one though.

That aside, any labour fee can almost always be negotiated between you and your mechanic. Oh and we can't use 06/07 10R alternators because they run their flywheels on the left side instead of the right. =)

Sticking to the subject, I'm sure you or any 04 10R out there will find these links interesting:

the repair cost that i mentioned, was after the harm done to the bike. when the piston seized. guess i didn't make myself clear.

I like it because it gives me confidence, it'll let me challenge myself....

everytime iI ride on it, and discovers the wind is in front of me, I throttle, it'll let me race with the wind.......

I lay low, to reduce wind drag, keep racing forward.....

in the end I won against the wind.....

I've got a 19/20 on my bike, which is a good thing since i prefer one-finger braking.

Quick question for you guys. Are our bikes limited to 299 km/h or does the speedo only read up to 299? I'm up 2 teeth on the rear sprocket so of course there will be speedo error and stuff, but just now i got her up to 299 and she still had some rpm to spare and felt like she could still pull more, but it just wouldn't go above 299 on the speedo. Anyone know what's up with that?

other than mv agusta's speedo, which can show 320, all digi speedos show up to 299 only.

Guys, Ah Tak said he needs about 2 hours+ per bike, i think it would be better to do one bike a day since we're doing the stuff in the evenings. Anyways i'm doing mine next week.

In that case, I will get mine done on Sat. I might be heading to Equipment Extreme as well. Anyone interested?

piston sieze?? ha ha! geezus I guess even you didnt read my posts detailing the defect properly.

pistons, conrods, crankshaft are all ok. it's the flywheel that siezed due to an improperly installed flywheel bearing. i estimate repair cost alone excluding the mods I will be doing to the engine to be roughly about SGD $2k. (1k labour, 500 for OEM replacement parts, 500 for gaskets, shims, etc)

goes to show that even appropriated reading material posted online, might not be bothered with by people at risk.

until of course, when the defect happens to them i guess. *shrug*
