be strict with ur dog n dun give them food from the table...

juz leave the food for them there during feeding time... they will eat it when they r hungry... n restrict the feeding time n dun juz leave the food there overnight.

they will subsequently know the feeding time is the only time to eat, and also it ensures freshness of food for the dog.

dun forget the fresh supply of water at all times too...

hey, i seriously need help with my puppy!

It is reaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaally noisy whenever someone is in the living room, where his cage is (need cage, home not dog-safe). He'll keep barking and barking non-stop! Scared wait later neighbours complain den jialat.

I've tried scolding him, ignoring him, beating him, throwing stuff at his cage (usually rolled-up newspaper), kicking the cage, switching off the lights, obscuring his view of the room, making noises louder than him, giving him a chew bone thing, but NOTHING WORKS!

I'm kinda at my wits end, can't watch TV peacefully, cos the only time he'll be quiet is when everyone of my family members is in their rooms.

I want to be a rider!

Hope to get 'free' 2b in NS!

how old is yr puppy? jus bought from shop one ah? a few weeks to a few months type?

if yes,

pups will react like this when they left their mum or silblings. a sense of in secure for them especially in new environment etc etc etc.

if no, its a few yrs old but jus move to new environment,

they will also react weirdly especially they left their old home to new home, but usually will hide at 1 corner, wiggling and weeping type.

else probably, its trying to tell u that its uncomfortable, maybe in pain etc etc etc.

My puppy is 7 months about, i think. DOB from shop is in december.

The cage the shopkeeper says is big enough.. We had him for about 2 or 3 months, so i think it's enough for him to adapt le.

One irritating thing is that he likes to bite practically everything, but i guess that's just a puppy thing. There was once where he picked up a hard candy from the ground on one of his walks =.=

One irritating thing is that he likes to bite practically everything, but i guess that's just a puppy thing. There was once where he picked up a hard candy from the ground on one of his walks =.=

You can try these few things below.

1. Do your usual like leaving the house and closing the door. But sneak in, do not let your dog hear or see you. Then whenever he/she barks, shake a metal tin with coins in it such that it produces a terrible noise. Do this for as long as your dog barks. You will have to keep doing this everyday for at least a week, depending on the breed and response of your dog.

2. Exercise your dog. Tire your dog out so that he/she will have less energy when it is back home. Your dog will spend more time sleeping in the cage. But release your dog whenever you are home. The case is only for when you are our or when it is bedtime.

3. You dog is probably teething, that's why he/she is biting. In this case, train your dog to only bite a chew toy. Discipline your dog when he/she is picking up anything other than the chew toy. Keep doing this all the time till your dog can respond to verbal commands like "No".

However, you must take note of the breed of your dog and his/her characteristic. Hope this helps.

Hi everyone

ASD has come a long way since Dec 2000 when she was first established. Through the toil, sweat, and support of everyone, we have been able to continue our mission of helping the stray and abandoned dogs of Singapore and to adhere to our philosophy of no-kill. To date, over 400 dogs have gone from the gutters and the streets to good and loving homes and many others have had respite from their daily suffering.

Through the years, our network of foster homes have become saturated from the accumulative number of dogs that remain with us and are still hopeful of a good permanent home, and as such, we have decided to bring ASD to the next level by setting up the ASD Adoption and Rescue Centre (ARC)

Having just taken over the premises in Lim Chu Kang on the 1st of June 07, ARC consists of 2 wings of kennels back to back . With an optimum capacity of about 54 dogs, one wing will hold the recovery and convalesence dormitories, while the other wing will have the dogs that are up for adoption. Each dormitory consist of 2 open kennels with a little run area in which 2-3 dogs can stay comfortably, and have social interaction as well (see attached pic)

The next few months will see us being very busy getting the place properly spruced up before the bulk of the dogs are gradually moved in, to ensure they have a nice and clean place to come to. Once we are fully operational, we will be having an open house and inviting you to come and visit the dogs and see how much difference your continued support has made. In due course, we will also be adding a new section to the website to provide more information about the ARC, like the management philosophy, admission criteria etc

We hope to count on your continued support to help us through our initial start up cost of the centre and the first year's operational cost. Modifications and other improvement expenses are currently at $5000 while the centre will cost an estimated $10,000 a month to run and maintain well, which includes rent, electricity and water, salaries for 2 workers, food, cleaning supplies, flea and tick medication and heartworm medication.

We still hope to maintain our current monthly medical and sterilization budget so that no sickly or needy dog needs to be turned away. And true to our policy of channeling all resources possible for the direct benefit of the animals, the daily admininstrative chores will still be brone by volunteers, who will receive no monetary benefits

And so we hope you will embark on this new journey with us by being a part of the Foundation Fund, a fund specifically set up to maintain the ARC. In order to cater for the comfort levels of everyone, we have these various levels of sponsorship of the ARC and her residents :

Founder :

Contributors of $20 to $299 will have honorary status on our Foundation Fund webpage on our website

Protector :

Contributors of $300 to $749 will have their names and a short message of their choice engraved on an icon which will be displayed on the mural wall of the ARC, as well as honorary status on our Foundation Fund webpage on our website. Note that you can combine your contributions together with a few of your dog loving friends and have a collective name like 'Dog Lovers Inc'

Benefactor :

Contributors of $750 and above will have their names and a short message at the entrance of each dormitory for a year, as well as honorary status on our Foundation Fund webpage on our website

Contributions can be sent by cheque or electronic transfer :

By cheque :

Payee Name: Action For Singapore Dogs Society

We sincerely hope that all of you will dig in and help build a strong foundation for the ARC so that together we can better help the helpless and downtrodden dogs in Singapore

Best Regards

Ricky Yeo

anyone giving away dogs or puppies?cause i hope to keep one.

i have one for adoption. a female medium sized mongrel named april (she was found in april) my colleague found her outside my workplace. microchipped and sterilised. as traced from the microchip, the owner already left singapore. was from SPCA also, so it's sterilised. (probably abandoned twice?) she's boarded at mutts and mittens. See photo and profile here. in need of a good home.

if you wish to meet her, can email me at [email protected]
