symptoms for coil change.

- when u feel dat u do not have the power or acceleration when riding in slower speed. Malay say mendak.

- wobbling when slowing down.

 

or best, remove the gasket to check the coil physically.

There is a measurement to measure the battery power using a certain device. A normal battery cud reach 13 - 14 but mine fell below 13.

anyway my bike too many bling! bling! liao.

 

Sorry if my explanation is not technical enuff coz i'm not well-versed in this kinda thing.

 

this is one of the reason why i dont like to connect to my bike battery coz it will drain them very fast,,

 

and onother thing is alarm..

 

this one also eat on yr battery.. had a friend when thailand had an alarm..

dont know who keep disturbing his bike alarm all night. battery when dead the next day find batttery at hatyai.

Hmm interesting..so when we check physically is there an indication or color to the coil that means time to change?

btw how come ur coil gets affected? i tot usually ONLY batt and rectifier rite?

u can either "feel" lah or check the coil physically. if u see the pix which i attached, the coil is burnt in most areas (those brown color) and it will affect the rectifier and battery.

 

actually, my bike still can move if i dun change the coil. but since i am gg for a road trip this weekend, wat if my bike die-ded on me? I wud have to spend a bomb juz to tow it back to SG, and spent another bomb on repairs.

 

FOr my case, i whack my bike everyday. MY bike is my transport as well as for road trips. 16 mths i've travelled 50,000km, eventually wear n tear caused this.

 

Too much thailang.com oso lah.

 

And yes, our battery ain't cheap! Car battery is much cheaper u noe.

I'm leaving for Marang-Terengganu early Sat morning at 3am. Den on Sunday morning will head down to Cherating, Pahang.

Be back to SG on Monday nite.

 

Deanz: I check the NBW thread, they having a marshaller practice run on Sunday. Sorry can't make it. Can't attend the FJR practice run on Friday nite oso.

Yeah coincidentally,i need to check mine also..my batt is hanging from 12.6 to 13.2 only and bike feels kinda slow anyway. time to check lah.

our FJR batt is ard $190 if not mistaken lah..wonder if auto machinery have?

1. need to change both tyres $400

2. hopefully my batt is ok if not need to fork out another $200 for batt and rectifier

 

total maybe ard $650-$700 i suppose :giddy:

I got it at 160 before.. But Auto price stick closely to the Jap Yen exchange rate...

 

I'm thinking of contacting GS Singapore direct and ask whether can get from them if cheaper... But my batt still good.

i'm joining the old-timers from SG-STOC. There are other biker groups oso.

Its actually a charity event, visiting children orphanage at Marang. A collaboration from both M'sian & SG bikers.

Since oredi at Terengganu, we decide to go Cherating the next day while the rest head home.
