Hello everyone,

My name is Clinton, I will be purchasing an FJR1300 1st hand, any tips or advice to give little poor inexperienced me :help: For example where to buy it from? lowest interest rates? best & most recognised FJR dealer?

I am an avid tourer. Rode up to Koh Samui farthest. Hatyai once every year. Penang, KL very often. Please feel free to drop by my Yahoo groups Enduro_Junkies. I have ridden 2 ZX11 D1 and D3, R1, XL1000V, and currently riding a Suzuki Burgman 650. I have been riding Bikes for more than 11 years now this FJR will be my 17th bike. I am 28 Yrs Old.

I am torn between the new GSXR1000K6 and the FJR1300 but i am more inclined to get the FJR as the reviews are quite good but i find the insurance kills you at $1,100 (1st party) a year and road tax at $500/- a year is really just too ex for a bike. more over the 1.3L engine bike on SGP road is a bit of an overkill. moreover how many times a year can you tour to West malaysia that would require you to purchase an FJR 1.3L $26,000 Bike? Please tell me good things about this bike to offload my mind of these 4 negative points i just mentioned. Please help.

Tamhid aka Vara, Your FJR accessories still up for Sale? i tried calling you but no answer, SMSed you also got no reply. Interested in the headlight protector and tank BRA Thanks

Teamlm have been looking thru until page 25 very tiring not much to read about why you choose the FJR and i am 90% convinced to buy the bike liao i need to know from whom, does anyone have any reputable bike shop to recommend? all my past bikes 2nd hand this is my first time i am getting a 1st hand brand new bike. Pls look at what i am looking for when i ask for advice on the FJR,

VFR : My Burgman is for sale @ $7.7k, Non Neg, REG in july 2002, asking $5k cash and my balance installments of $220x12 months. bought this bike 2nd hand 2 years ago at $14k. this model is the 2002 model, still "Oil Soaked GEAR Final Drive".

After this model the newer models go back to the old system of Belt Drive.

For motorcycles there are 3 main types of Final Drive namely Chain, Belt and Shaft. no other motorcycle has this Burgman's technology, "Oil Soaked GEAR Final Drive".

Chain Drive, very efficient but high wear rate and high maintenance and noisy

Belt Drive, +/- 80% efficient due to slippage, elongates needs replacement every 30k km, slightly quieter but still can hear the distinct belt rotation sound when idleing.

Shaft Drive, Low maintenance and wear becoz soaked in oil but very low efficiency due to the 90 degrees angle between shaft and wheel. Quiet except when changing gears .

GEAR Drive, Low maintenance and no wear becoz soaked in oil. very highly efficient becoz the gear all in 1 straight line, no right angle. front GEAR Spoke Aligned with Wheel GEAR Spoke. Most Quiet.

this bike full tank around SGP$22 (98) can travel about 280KM. On Auto Economy mode.

It has 3 modes. Auto Economy, Auto Power (higher RPM B4 gear change) and best is the Manual 5 gear Tiptronic, up and down gear shift button, when you want Flying pick-up. This is a manual mode where you have to change gears using 2 buttons up & down. and best of all is you can stop at traffic light in 5th gear and the bike automatically changes down to 1st gear for you for your next pick-up

Top speed with my after market windshield and top box is 190km/h

with the original windshield and Clean configuration(meaning no box) can hit around 200km/h.

Has 3 different oils to change: GEAR Oil, Automatic Transmission oil and Engine oil. The other 2 oils are changed only after the Engine oil has been thru 2 cycles of change. Very big under seat compartment can fit 2 Full Face and 2 sets of Raincoats and also my Pioneer Car Stereo Head unit. No need top box it just creates drag. 1 key opens everything. i have cross-over, tweeters and mid-bass speakers with the head unit.

It is the best bike for SGP roads, it is fast econimical, great storage space and inexpensive to upkeep, practically zero maintenance. Rain also won't get wet, shoes and whole body fully covered.

Sorry can't let you test ride it, but trust me you will love it. I love it and actually don't want to sell it if possible but the FJR requires Down payment and it has got to come from somewhere.

Hope this is sufficient.

Also it is very powerful and has a very very low centre of gravity the whole engine and fuel compartment is under the rider this only translates to super high stability, very manuverable, goes in and out of corners very fast very stable. and the wheels are not your usual scooter wheels, they are 15 inch rim wheels which are as large as most cars.

Wot u had ridden b4 are all enduro bikes... FJR is a totalli diff class from wot u had ridden before....

Seems dat u hv ur mind set on the FJR when u r prep to buy the accessories... so why worry.... dereZ no perfect bikes in the world....

Having a Vara is also quite a waste to be used in SG.... FJR definitely also a waste to have in SG... but if dats wot u wan n wot u dream of... why hesitate??? FJR got lotsa probz... high cost (insurance, road tax, OTR price) is definitely one of them.... Why do we still wan it.... 'coz we ae in LooVVEE!~ :lovestruck:

To have changed 16 bikes by the age of 28.... surely u be able to settle on the FJR with ur pocket still full lahh!! Respect man... 16bikes......

The manouverabilty n handling of FJR is unsurpassed by other of itz class.... not mentioning the speed.... Keep in mind dat FJR is a toury sports machine.... not a sporty tourer...

I think the 2006 FJR with some slight upgrades would make a good choice if ur gettin a new FJR. There is a 2004 model with only 2,000km(barely run in) on the clock going for under $20k, which seems like a bargain.

Having juz sold my ride an 04'R1 I'm gonna go for a 06' Fazer 1000 which is a good compromise...150horses(R1 engine) and something which ain't gonna break my back..cos lao liao :)

I have all the Polo T shirts with me now. I'm pleased to inform that the above-mentioned collection will be on Tuesday 20th Sept 2005 after 7pm. Thank you for all the patience.

(I'm embarking on a gruesome ride up north,Phuket in the next few hours with 4 of our FJR fellowship.)

Thank you all for making our Polo mass order a success... Happy riding! God speed.!

Will post the photos when we are back.!
