thanks pal...was reading on the ticking issue and got my nerves all tense all. All these comments on the ticking from all kinds of people, does anyone has an official reply from YAMAHA ? I think this is going to hurt their sale of the 2006 model. who is going to put so much money into a bike with a unsolved problem ?

can explain more of the ticking problem?

bro in this forum there is 03,04,05.. most of our bike have that thinking sound... it comes from the valve stem that is shaking... we all dont really mind it as we love the trill that it can give to us... dont make that ticking sound prevent u from having fun wth this bike....

 

by the way im riding the 03 modal... it had went up thailand wth me ones but the previous owner had gone 4 times.. and imagine the speed that some of us here had gone wth this baby its tremendous( am i right teamlm)

 

dont get nervous of that ticking sound it wont do u any harm...

 

but if u dont like the sound den go for st13 but it wont be the same!!!!

Please note that the advanced stages of the ticking you will see oil leaking out of your exhaust pipe. This is the cause by advanced wearing of the valves. This is now well documented in the older models in the FJR technical threads

Actualli haven witness it 1st hand regarding the actual ticking sound 'coz no one here report of it yet....

 

but.... mostly the ticking sound is from the tensioner... my FJR 6mths old tensioner spoil liao...

They have heaps of info and discussion.. But whatever the case, FJR population is still growing...

 

If the newer models will get it, the ang mohs will get it oso... So, ur not alone.. And if the ang mohs are still buying it, why not u?

 

Some of us are already prepared to ride till the valves break.. Capirexx has the highest mileage in our group.. So, logically, he'll be the first to kenna if that happens... He'll let us know when that happens.. Am I rite Capi?

 

But dun be influence by us, make ur own decision.

Btw, is there power cut in older models?

I can only hit 230 km/h and throttle already reach end of travel. Second time i drag to 200 at 4th gear, still, stuck at 230km/h. Abit disappointed leh, expecting at least 250km/h.

I did a dyno test from Loois' motor sometime 3 months ago on mystandard 05. After slight tunning, 245km /hr is manageable. I'm comfortable with the present set up.

 

According to Meng tong (Looi's motor), If i invest in a Power commander, re-map the fuel and air flow sensor, it will easily attain 260km per hour.

Yeah, I saw that the FJR bike with ST logo the during the 3 nation ride in Penang. I think it should be the same owner.

 

8 bikes turned up for the meet up. After the mini meet upTerry, clinton and myself did the mersing trunk ride. Well executed.

 

We shall do it again next time.!
