Personally I would have chose the XJR400 because its not so common like the Super4. Being unique, spares will be hard to find or expensive to replace. But what really makes me chose the XJR is the OEM bike is equipped with brembo brakes and Ohlins shocks, which gave better braking and handling compare to Honda.

I AGREE!!!!!

HI GUYS!!!! First, let me introduce myself... I'm BoyBulance, and i USED, let me repeat, USED to ride to ride a VerS (as shown on my avatar).. I rode it for 7 months before I changed to a Yamaha XJR400 Fighting Spirits a couple of days ago..

U are so right being that the bike's brakes, handling and suspensions are way better as compared to the VerS. (I compare these two bikes - both in stock condition - as they are from the same era, and using Brembo brakes)

I used to be very afraid of the XJR because it has this distinct grunting, beast engine sound. Most inexperienced, lack of knowledge or 'ya-ya' mechanics will tell u that there is something wrong with the engine because it sounds 'damaged'. However, an XJR engine is meant to GROWL... And when u open the throttle, it ROARS!!!

I also believed that since it is rare, spare parts are hard to find, so i juz played safe and bought myself the VerS.

A couple of months down the road, I got to know and started hanging out with the only XJR club in Singapore. They are a really friendly bunch of open, helpful and knowledgeable guys that I ended up being the only Super 4 in a club of XJRers..

With their knowledge, experience and 'lobangs', they were able to look out for the XJRs in good condition and mechanics who knows how to repair and acquire XJR spare parts... That is when I found a very, very rare, in original white paintwork, stock condition, well-maintained Fighting Spirit (see pic)...

After riding an XJR, i finally understood why the Singapore Traffic Police switched from Hondas to YAMAHAS.... It has superior handling, comfort, braking, pickup and suspensions as compared to the Honda.... Even the TPs complain that the Honda VFR's engine heat up faster as compared to the Yamaha Diversion's, and they preferred the Diversion over the new VFRs... Perfect for law enforcement, and perfect for people like me!!!

This Saturday 21 Feb 09, we are having an XJR club meetup at Teh Tarek Sembawang and we are inviting anyone and everyone to get up close n personal with the XJR, since it is such a rare and underrated bike in Singapore.

Who knows, maybe after test riding the XJR, ur Honda will never feel the same again.. That was what happened to me.... Juz a test ride, and my heart n soul was hooked to the XJR....

See u guys at the thread and hopefully, on Saturday!!!

Some riders fail to realise that we don't belong in the same Class....

We don't need to make ANY effort to attract attention on the roads." - a CHOSEN ONE
