Thanks to the vehicle-down sensor, the engine is automatically stop due my 2 times bike-drop. Now I am more careful about balancing liao, learning it in a hard way

Kawasaki Engine are very tough :box: But if everytime stall engine due to lack of warming up, the engine sure jialat, so must take care

I still practice warming up my engine till 60 deg.c without throttling the engine at all, still practice covering my Zed with bike cover at home once she is cool down :thumb:

Is that a common problem for z1000..? I have encountered the same prob a few times liao.. esp when i start the bike 1st time in the day.. btw, i'd warm up my bike till ard 60 deg too.. so dunno whether my idling speed is too low, or I never warm up enough..

yup its an 03 model..

oh so its no major problem...

tis means need to eo also...

so how long does it takes usually to fix it?

cant be left w/o riding a bike for very long....

seems u've been riding a zed for sometime..

can share some info on wat to lookout for apart from e usual servicing of eo, oil/air filters, spark plugs etc...

The top cover job shouldn't take more than a few hours, at most 3. just leave it at the shop then go for a meal. when i did it dat time, didnt change the engine oil at all, jus make sure the engine has cool down and the oil will settle at the bottom.

Beside this i really dun have any more problems with the zed...

But its not due to hard accleration or vibrations, our first batch is due to manufacturer's fault.... too much saki.....

Normal servicing is as other bikes, but using Yamaha oil filter (cheaper). nw using NGK platinium plugs, but they seems to make the bike run abit hotter, maybe changing back to Iridium ones.

I also had the same problem in the morning when i'm late, move off without waiting for the engine to warm up properly, when it does, i'll off the bike and on it again for the system to reset itself. after dat shouldnt have anymore problems..

The idling speed is about 1000 rpm, as I heard from the other bikers, best operation temp should be 70 deg. But 60 deg is so far fine for me :thumb:

Anyway I also did follow the manual instruction of breaking in new engine, so far so good. Never stall engine by itself. Click 9,000km.

I am going to change spark plugs at Looi's motor when my Zed hit 10,000km. Don know what spark plugs to use, any recommendation?

seems like we all have tried moving our bike without warming up, good experience but once is enough, haha

:btw: I do have one minor problem. The handle do vibrate a bit when revving at 90km/h & above, but its a bearable minor vibration, is it normal for the Z1000?

Somemore when I off the engine & try push the bike forward, there is a small sound produce at the front brake disc, don know is it the front wheel bearing spoil already? Or is because the brakeing system is a little out of alignment?

I ask my father, he said wheel bearing are very hard to spoil, don know true or not :sian:

That is the sound I refer to, I have no idea man

When I drive my lorry for servicing, the uncle told me if I hear the screech sound when braking, that means brakepads need to replace liao. Cause there is a small notch at the brakepads holder which indicate there is no more brakepads by scratching the brake disc, producing a small screech sound.

But only when braking leh, now my Zed also have slight screech sound without braking. Worst come to worst, is it out of alignment? :help: But tried to ride with no hands & the bike still able to go straight.

Must ask Uncle Expert when I service at Looi's Motor :goodluck:

Oh I see, thanks for your advice, but is "iridiums" a brand name?

My Zed highest temperature ever hit is 105 deg, that was under a hot day in the traffic jam with half clutch most of the time, the heat still bearable. Unless wear saddles, can really feel the heat.

Yeah loh, its an experience of living with the Zed, haha

Don know can write in to the Japan Kawasaki team to retified this problem or not, anybody knows how to type in japanese? :cheeky:

Actually the sound is quite soft, but its better to have no sound at all. Don know the other brand of Kawasaki bikes have the same "problem" or not. Sca-li the sound is the "trademark" of Kawasaki, no need to retify, haha.

o_O

Can get the turtle wax at the Shell pump station, the bottle is in Green colour, but the content inside is white liquid.

Don know much how it works, I think it somehow "melt" the surrounding coloring scheme & match into the scratch mark, but it really do help to minimize the scratch mark, I see the result myself, not 100% but at least better than last time.

Thats how I do it:

1) wash my bike first

2) dry my bike with clean cloth.

3) Then use just a small tea-spoon of turtle wax on a damp cloth or wet sponge.

4) rub the wax on top of the scratch mark & apply pressure when rubbing.

5) slowly clear away the excess turtle wax on my Zed with a fine cotton cloth.

6) repeat step 4 & 5 till I satified the result.

I recommend to try it at any metal with paint job first, before using the wax on the bike, just to play safe & see the result, then after you satified, do it on your long beloved Zed
