Looks good is pointless if all it does is to bake you under the start-stop traffic in Singapore.

Mesh jacket is the best compromise here. Once again, I would not buy waterproof jackets. Hot as hell when not raining even with vents, and when it rains its not as good as a conventional raincoat. Just buy a size larger raincoa to wear over the jacket.

Been doing it for the past few years.

design and looks aside, i guess its tempting for me cause

- close out prices gives you better value for money

- perforated leather would definitely give you better abrasion protection vs mesh

- leather generally last longer than textile and easier to maintain to some extend? of course if you're the sort who likes to dump everything into the washing machine, then you cant do it to leathers but it doesnt stain as easily too i guess. it will just look worn.

but yes i agree with you that it it against common logic not to use mesh. hahaha but like i said, its tempting. im myself using mesh currently with rain coat. btw bro, what jacket are you using now specifically?

2 different mesh jackets from Komine and RS Taichi.

Rotate between the 2 sets, when washing. :)

what is the purpose of a mesh jacket? is it to prevent injury if fall? Mesh jacket as in you can literally see the holes? I current using jacket that will prevent rain and have reflective strips for night ride.

From my personal use, I think leather jackets when wet will stiffen dry and a little harder but you can condition to soften it. It will last but the surface will look a little older with time but mine have lasted quite a few years and still usable.

those raincoats offer no protection at all. might be even worse cause when u skid (touch wood), the plastic will actually melt and fuse into your skin, making it even worse actually. if you value ur skin, suggest u invest in a mesh jacket immediately.

mostly come with armor paddings. those are wat protects u. mesh is the best for singapore weather as its cool enough when on the move even on the hotter days. if kena rain also, will dry fast.

btw i ever tried wearing mesh jacket for prac at BBDC for my 2A. i was drenched to the max, and it was AT NIGHT. shows how humid singapore is, coupled with the snail speeds inside circuit. imagine hot and humid day in heavy traffic, this time in leather.

A ride a day, keeps the doctor away!

I'm using a basic Komine mesh jacket that I bought from racing world for 120 bucks. has elbow shoulder and basic back protection. Can be warm in start stop traffic and hot weather. In light drizzles still ok but definitely needs a raincoat in a downpour. I don't think I would consider waterproof jackets cos it would be way too warm!

Yes I do that... What's wrong with that???

Nothing wrong, good to know that i am not the only one doing that. Do notice some stares from people sometimes.

I use a Dainese Air 3 mesh jacket, and its the 'meshiest' jacket i've ever found! Not the cheapest at about 260 bux, but not the most expensive either, and its been in the washing machine many times and comes out as good as new.

For waterproof, i just carry an AStars waterproof jacket either in backpack (which i wear every day when commuting as i have to carry laptop and other stuff anyway) or tail pack if touring. Most of the time though, especially if on my way home from work i dont bother with the waterproof jacket even when it rains. Just get wet. Its not like its wet and cold!

Rode to KL a couple weeks ago and got caught in a downpour even though I had the waterproofs in the backpack, it was too late to put them on. I was completely dry half hour after the downpour anyway.

How is the cutting of a fairness on Asian body shape? I'm tall and lanky ah.

Nope. Dainese Air Frame Tex is a damn solid jacket for ventilation (not waterproof). But as you all can guess, in a slide, even the best mesh jacket with CE armour is not going to withstand the tarmac. Its a compromise between comfort and abrasion resistance. You could go one up and try the Dainese Air Frazer jacket. Its a mesh+leather combo. Leather in all the 'outer' impact areas where you most likely will slide (if you fall). But the price is quite epic also.

Just go Youtube so many reviews on Dainese (and other) products. Revzilla channel/Sports Bike Track etc..So far Revzilla has the most technical and objective reviews on the web and they take time to respond to your comments.
