Was there last week, didn't see ah-huat already, sad to see those familar faces gone, I can tell the young apprentices is still learning his rope and there's the other taller guy who have done on my fork & steering, when back again as its not properly tied. Then there the skinny guy (darn don't seem to remember anyone from there liao) he's the only mech that is left which I'm familiar with.

Don't tell me Ah Cheong pay them peanuts for their work!! If not they wouldn't wana leave in the first place. :weep:

yes, in motorcycle repair industry, the pay is low, same as work as assistant chief in restaurant, because they are learner, working and learning at same time.

once they learn everything, they will either open shop themself or join another shop as the senior mechanic.

now im on my 4th full tank, therefore it means that the svcg was done few wks back. i waited till 4th tank to see if its a one-off affair,or really tuning problems. if i were to go back to Planet tmw morng to hv my carbs tune again, wd Ah Chong charge me again? i feel that it wd be a double charge on me if i have to pay for his, or his mechs' incompetencies.

hw much is tuning carbs at Planet? dont tink i nid the wash.

Juz let them know. Ah Chong would not anyhow charge u if their job don't solve ur prb.

so much on the service side. do they sell bikes.? and worth buyin from them?

Planet mainly just repair bikes, hence the name Planet Motorcycle Service Centre.

Sometimes bikers who frequent there might just sell to him when they upgrade or what.

But if u wanna buy a bike, u are better off trying your luck at other shops which specifically repair AND trade bikes.

I'm a Planet regular, but this recently case make me piss off.

I just got my brand new Spec 3, went there to do my 1st servicing, which i did my oil filter change n engine oil change. D following day, which is last Friday, I head up to cameron highland....

While on d way back, then I found out tat my engine oil is leaking. Is not they nvm tighten my engine oil nut properly BUt d youg guy while did my change of my oil filter nvm took out my oil filter rubber seal out. Wat he did was, he put d brand new oil filter wif rubber seal in together wif my old rubber seal tat make up to 2 rubber seal in a single oil filter n put it in tat caused my engine oil leak out bit by bit to a lot due to virabration.

If I nvm find it out in time, I might have die wif d big engine oil smashed out. The engine oil was leaking badly from d oil filter till d back of d tires. My whole bike was badly cover wif engine oil which caused me to top up engine oil again n again to last me to one of d KL shop to do it. Then I found it out...

I'm damn disappointed wif this case n I'm damn piss off. Right early 2morrow morning, I will call Ah Chong n will tell him this case n see wat he can do for me. I demanding a good explanation from him.

anyway issit orite to pour 3.5L of EO into a Spec2, instead of the recommended 3.2L when changing EO n oil filter?

Mr Chong, or his mechanics poured 3.5L, wic is something ive nvr done. when i spoke to him abt this, he make it seems as though having more EO is better.

i noe its only 0.3L, but still its the work ethics that im concerned with.

Eh fren, I experienced that twice when I did service at Planet. Leaking, dripping engine oil due to the nut not tightened enough.

I like and support Planet, but sometimes they can get a bit forgetful...maybe due to the crowd there.

U have to try and check ur bike urself before you move off next time. :)

I did check, it was not leaking at all. But later at NSHW, it was leaking badly due to hard run in.

dont call him too early bcos he may be still lying beside the mei mei at geylang wholesale market. Make sure he is up and wake and not the OTHER PART of him awake.

had this problem from a shop in the west. that joker did not used the

belt spanner to tighten my oil filter. Oil leaking bcos of a pinch hole cause by

the wrong tool used.

leak became worst by the time i notice from the stain in the parking lot

my engine oil lever went passed the min. level.

now always check or watch the service going on in the shop and also look carefully

at parking lot for sign of leak.

i tink the shop dat u went is really a cork-up shop. who the hell doesnt drain the previous EO sia.

anyway, shan't say im grateful, coz i intend to sell the 0.8L to a fren riding another bike. but since im left wif 0.5L, its rendered useless.

i had my last oil change at planet done by ah huat..

notice he didn't use the belt spanner to tighten the oil filter..

asked him.. he say hand tighten can already..

so far so gd never leak..

dunno true or not?

pls advise..

Some people measure their adventures in miles or days. I prefer "lamp posts".

The young apprentices are stil learning, so I'm kinda skeptical about letting him handle my bike, but sometime no choice as the other mech are busy.

Well, there is some truth in that. if you look closely on the oil filter, its stated that you shouldn't use tools(or some sort of tools) to tighten...its cause the filter is made of thin material and using tools on it may cause damage on the filter, rendering useless. The important thing is to change the filter and start the engine to observe for a while.

u will be surprised if i tell u the name of the shop. :sian:

by the way, i dun think motoshops uses measuring cylinder to gauge 0.2 litres of engine oil. most uses the 'agaration' techinique :D

wadever it is, "agaration" is not the right method also. anyway, that bottle has those markings at the side, so... u can draw ur own conclusions i guess.

There is a poper tool made by Honda to tighten and remove the oil filter. You can buy the tool at $6 from LAB. There is also a poper torque stated in the manual to tighten down the oil filter.

Use hand to tighten the oil filter?? :goodluck:

Yes use the proper tool, I believe planet should have the correct tool.

Otherwise can choose to use K&N oil filter, slightly more ex than the OEM oil filer, there is a 17mm nut on it, just use a 17mm socket wrench for tightening will do.
