antonioshabirto's verdict is no doubt on the right track!

The "clanking" sound is the result of the free play of the brake pads within the calipers. Although the pads are held by locking pins (yamaha) or locking bolts (honda n most jap makes) via a pre-tension plate, the sound will still be apparent but is not a big issue.

As for the Italians, I would not be surprised the "clanking" phenomenon is the same as the jap bike by engineering design meant to be. But then again, i am relative distance from Italian Stallions due to the rarity.

I would be more happy to be enlightened on Italaian caliper configurations apart from Brembos on the the big Ds

The reason why Nissin was used .... its actually to cut on the cost price as it is the machine price was already expensive ....

But that does not mean the Brakes is not realiable ..... It has been proven n tested to be as good both on road n track .....

Once again .... we have to compare aple to aple.

Theres obviously difference between nissin and the radial brembo brakes.

Nissin tends to have spongy feelings and their grips are not as precise as the Brembo. As for Brembo.....the only word to describe is OTOT(own time own target)

At any time when u need the brakes, it response superbly and acurately. From high spd to sudden stop.

Dont forget the above is also due to ur Master cylinder which will need to upgraded to the Brembo Master too.

But trust me stock is more than sufficient if cost is an issue..

Yes... that is apparent in almost all "mainstream" items. Use of lower grade (Nissin/Tokico/Yamaha propietary 1 piece forged) is common in all industries (reduce COP) but yet to pass the standards of the product. I have encountered months of cost reduction projects.. very shitty job though...

"Dont forget the above is also due to ur Master cylinder which will need to upgraded to the Brembo Master too."

The spongy feeling have lower percentage due to the calipers itself. High culprit is the bleed job, followed by the master pump, then the lines. Of course the better feel/braking force is also due to the larger dia cylinder pump of a Brembo.

antonioshabirto, i am actually more interested in the construction of a Brembo caliper in an effort to understand the absense abt the "clanking" sound as compared to the jap bikes. Whats the main difference? Or does the stock calipers on the Italians also have the similar sound?

Thankz

This clanking thing only happen to the old construction of Mv750 but since then most of the other MV bike has no experience of the clanking sound.

Like i said before ..... the stock works perfectly.

I am on jap makes for the past 7 years, leading to a final swop from a VFR to an R6. An Italian would be a delightful change n future.

I never mentioned in my threads that I encounter any problems. Just in search to know on the construction difference in calipers.

What bike are u riding ?? what sorts of problem are u facing ??

Thank You.

Not in particular on an MV, but on an Italian in general. I am much keen on power delivery, reliability, handling, suspension tuning etcetc VS a Japanese.
