my fren just bought a kingston thumb drive 512MB for 67 dollar... and me bought a 512 kingston SD card for 64 dollar... then a small card reader for 17 dollar... but the difference is thumb drive transfer faster then the card reader... that's my feeling lah... but not that slow also. if you don't mind about the speed then can get a memory card and get a card reader loh... as what they said, more expandable...

Before you dive headlong, maybe consider a different usage model.

Get a 2.5" notebook HDD + a USB2 enclosure. Price depends on HDD capacity. Cheap and good enclosure can be gotten from $19-29. Then get a 64MB thumbdrive. 64MB is good for office use to transfer moderate amount of data. If you need more memory space, then use the HDD providing storage not in the MB but GB. 512MB probably won't last you long before you want to upgrade. A low-end HDD will last you ages and ages.

But the disadvantage is that 2.5' HDD is BIG in size. Thumb Drive is smaller and offer better mobility! It's all up to individual preference. I prefer Thumb Drive due to it's small size and mobility. Can hang on the neck somemore like a necklace. Do u wan to hang a 2.5' HDD at your neck? No offense bro. Just jokin... Hehehe.

Think it's a THIRD PARTY RAM right?

FIRST PARTY is still the best but costly. THRID PARTY RAMS are cheap.

Size is not the problem. Reliability is the problem.

HDD is HDD, precision parts, mechnical parts...

You drop your thumbdrive, 99% of the time is ok...

Thumbdrives have no mechanical parts.

You try dropping a HDD...

All HDD have a MTBF rating (Mean time before failure)... and it will fail before the thumbdrive...

So the question is: Can you afford to lose a few gig of info just by dropping the drive?
