This problem is a reflection of the artificially low parking charges for both cars and motorcycles.

I like to see parking spaces for motorcycles too.

What will encourage building owners to provide more carpark space, including for motorcycles, is to price the carparks much higher so that it is at least competitive with alternative land uses such as retail or office or whatever space that the building is being used for.

The question then becomes: you get the motorcycle parking space that you wanted. Would you pay hourly rates, or substantially higher per entry rates, that would make it viable for building owners to let you park?

He who hesitates is lost!

As of what i know, many countries didnt charge for parking.. If you think from another angle, what if SG carparks dun charge..?

Cars and bikes will come from all over SG and flood Orchard.. Charging for parking is in fact a sort of traffic control for SG.. something like ERP..

Althou it doesnt seems to help much but cars and bikes owners will think twice if they know that the shopping centres they will be visiting had not much lots for them to park, dun you think so..

Finding alternatives may be one solution by many of us would just parked in somewhere further but for free or some even resort to illegal parking along the streets.. these solutions often led to full house parking at areas that offered parking lot.. in which attracts thieves which deems these areas as easy targets..

For me, i would rather take public on weekends.. for those die die must travel with bike everyday, there's a thread on the parking lots available in CBD area(paying/free).. that's updated quite frequently..

Just my 2cents..
