sometimes in buildings, take ages.. and still can't detect..

this phone is not bad.. except for the outlook..

doesn't look appealing..

but..

nvm.. use awhile and see how well it serves me in Malaysia first

In KL, they only have the locations within city area..

and I mean the heart of the city.. places in Ampang is not even inside..

in JB, places like Taman RosMerah also not inside..

but generally, the phone served me well in my few KL trips..

tabulation quite ok..

they should detect potholes for me also.. wahahaha

GPS usage for 6110 is free for life. As long as you can live with the outdated map.:cheeky: But still quite good as a navigational tool. SGP map ok, JB map abit outdated and only until Senai. But got quite alot of place of interest built in, navigated from Senai to a restaurant in JB no problem except for a detour towards senai airport even though can drive straight, am guessing last time use to have road works there but now no more thus the detour.

No blk number never mind. As long have street can liow. And you can set your own landmarks to navigate to.

Got quite a kick using the device as first time using voice assisted navigation.:cheeky:

I set mine to A-GPS and GPS. AGPS to assist in acquiring position fast and cost only a few cents as very little data is use before the unit transfer to GPS which is free.

6110 has an in built GPS receiver thus GPS is free. Whereas other phones only has A-GPS (software driven) which is by GPRS thus there is cost involved.

By the way, phone battery drains very fast in GPS mode, thus if navigating using phone need car kit.

Got an info about the N6110 to share..

GPS usage is free.. But when u guys are out of the GPS Network, it will run on GPRS which is NOT free..

And supposedly, their GPS Network is quite weak..

When u are within buildings, or even in an open space but between buildings, u will be out of the GPS Network, therefore sometimes it takes ages to load..

And at such circumstances, when u are connected, u will be running on GPRS thus charges apply..

And another thing is, GPS run on full screen.. Thus, u will not know whether u are running on GPS Network or the GPRS until u exit..

This might then be the so-called hidden cost.. Those considering buying this phone might wanna take note..

I do believe tat the gprs function is mainly used to update the maps in the fone , u cant juz use GPRS to connect to the GPS satellites . Anyway , m using the N95 , so most of the map updating is done thru wifi on my home wireless broadband .

Anyway , being out in the open will have one being able to recieve the the satlellites input easier than in areas like orchard . N its quite hard to get a satellite fix on a "cold start" , most need at least 1 min to get a fix .
