hi,

Did the tranfer for Randy's bike today. I am now the proud ower of the red DNA with the cool GPR pipe. . Ha..ha..

The bike is cool , but the new ower(me ) is so c*** la... After the transfer so wanted to ride home, fix the p plate at the back of the bike and when i reach home , the p plate not there anymore.... fell off...

So no choice, buy another set... Total spent $24 on p plate today .... What an idiot. I could have save that money and buy some performce parts for my new 2nd hand bike. .

Anyway, in the end i rode to the nearest workshop and paid the ah pek $3 to fix it for me with cable tie.

From this incident, it showes that i really need help right. So please meet up ASAP and hopefully i can be cool also riding this cool bike.

Another question, while riding today, it rained and i was caught in it, after that , i find that there is water droplets in the the speedo meter , headlight and voltmeter.

Don't scold me for asking this question but how to read the voltmeter ? i only know that it's to check the battery .

Please advice if free. Thank you.. Loving the bike so far. I really hope it will not give me any problem.

i feel like bring the bike for a servicing . But Randy said that he already did a belt change a few months back . So i don't really know how?

What do you guys think should i bring the bike for a general servicing ... if there is such a thing.

How many type of servicing there are for motobike?

How often must i bring it for servicing to maintain the bike in good condition?

Please advice.

Well, every 6000km do the usual, change oil, check coolant, sparkplugs, brake fluid, etc. At first I got the shop to do it, but after hanging around with stroker and spiderman, I started doing it all by myself.

As for the voltmeter, check the current voltage, if it sinks about 2 volts below that, or 1 volt, mine is usually at 12 v by the way, it means your battery is weak, and might not be strong enough to power the starter motor, so bring the battery home and charge her up...

Cheers...

He did change the belt. Me and Daniel were there when he did that..so be rest assured. Randy won't lie!! (Do I get some goodies for saying nice things??? )

Wait for a while before sending the bike in. BTW, he goes to Win Jin in Desker Road. While waiting, you can eat cheap Nasi Padang and also go to Mustafa for shopping.

You lucky dude. I got the bike but I don't have my license, yet.

Hmmm, doubt that you will need to do anything to the bike as I was there when Randy did the last few "jobs" on it, actually the DNA can be a really reliable bike, just make sure everything is serviced well..

Cheers...

Engine oil - 6000 oil filter after 2 oil changes

Coolant - 6000

Spark Plug - 6000 check, 12000 replace NGK G-power

brake fluid - Dot 4

As we've always said, if you use a gpr pipe, you better buy lots of cable-tie! ha. It'll tend to vibrate everything lose. Especially yr number plate and P plates.. So I discovered best way is to use cable-tie-- won't come lose and its durable.

As for meter misting up after a rain is common. Just ride it a couple of days, it'll dry up. I find that our bike is very sensitive to rain. Best is not to leave/ ride under heavy rain. The switches controls will leak a little water in and cause it to go finicky. The meter will fog. The stock pipe will rust itself to death. And the spark plug cap will be be impregnated with water and hence run errantic.

But all the above will iron themselves out after a few days in the dry. So no worries. Just pre-empting you. Cheers!~

ps: as for the voltmeter, it should read 12.4 - 12.6v when riding. If its under, means batt a little weak.. Might need to change batt soon, cos it can't retain its charge well.. High possibly of going flat. But disclaimer, the abv is based on other bikes with factory eqquipped voltmeter, I dunno abt our dna with aftemarket voltmeter reads that way or not.

I got the prices for your wheel bearings... Not yr transmission.. Cos they're rather odd sizes.. I'll pm you whatever I have at d moment.

BTW, you bought 6202 in the red-coloured cage (high speed) bearing huh???!? Where you get in from one?? I practically scored the whole island, but couldn't get it in that size leh.. International Bearing included said that they do not have the textite-based bearing in 6202 size.. You've got use for yours?? Wanna sell me?? *desperate**

BTW, yur wheel bearings got 2rs or not? Meaning are they covered? Or without cover?

Thank you all for the advice. About the servicing portion, please don't get me wrong. I didn't mean to say that Randy was not telling it as it is. Please. I trust him. So i am sorry if i offended anyone.

I am very happy with the bike so far and Randy have been great in giving me advice on the bike.

So there is such a thing as general servicing. Ok .

Storker - You are right about the GPR. It's like a turbo charge vibrater.

Denial - Thanks. Now i know how to read the voltmeter. What side mirrors are you using now? The one that Randy have is nice but i cannot use it to see cars behind me. I am a new rider so still need to look out for car behind me. Any recommendation on which one to change to?

I cut the p-plate to half the size of the original and stick it in front of the bike. Is it legal to display a small version of the p-plate?

Anyone, want to meet -up this friday afternoon to talk and look at accessories?

Wow, that is an interesting way to put it. Turbo Charged vibrator, man, every school girl will want one. Well, if you are looking for mirrors that are good, get the stock DNA one's, I swear to you, no blind spots at all. I used a few but switched back, at first due to the fact that they were ugly, but later realised many BMW bikes use similar mirrors. Sort of lying to myself though!

Met a guy interested in the DNA today, it seems he was a bit wary at first as his "NSR" friends said it was not a good bike, typical of the kawas, hondas, and yamahas to black list us, same back in England. But after trying the bike, he is really keen in the bike. YES! I converted another possible DNA rider.

Cheers...
