looks nice.

Any website to check on the material used? Good branded jackets got website to explain on their material used - ballistic bylon for the mesh, cordura or goretex or kevlar etc for the elbow & shoulders etc.

Even RSTaichi or Komine also have website.

Does it come with hard or soft armour for $170? Hard spine armour included? Coz if it is not included, then you should look at Komine or RSTaichi brand instead. Even GPR also have cheap mesh jackets nowadays.

Rjays motorcycle leathers were first released to the Australian market way back in February 1990.

Even back then, the people behind the name saw a need for a brand to be created that would truly suit Australia’s tough motorcycle riding conditions.

Since that time RJays has come a long way. Today we have a massive range of helmets, leathers, textiles, rainwear, gloves, boots, soft & hard luggage as well as a large range of accessories to suit all motorcycle riding climates and conditions which continues to evolve and grow all the time.

As time has gone on more and more motorcyclists the world over have come to recognise the care taken in the development and eventual production of every single item RJays releases to the motorcycling public.

RJays is now becoming available in more and more countries all over the globe.

Now I am impressed after looking at the website on the Octane series. Its got a mesh & heavy duty cordura mix at the right place. Its got CE approved armour even at spine area.

But the thickness of the heavy duty cordura is not stated (denier); its got to be thick enough to scrap against tar road without ripping apart. Nevertheless can personally hand feel it to check.

Make sure Regina includes the hard spine armour as part of the $170 - then its worth every penny. Some sales gimmick - they hide the hard armour & sell you jacket dirt cheap. And you got to pay $60 -90 extra later to buy the armour.

One more thing to check is whether it is double stitching. Check out the stitching of Alphinestar which regina is also selling & compare to Rjay - you 'll understand what I mean. Good stitching will prevent the jacket ripping off during a accident when you slide on the tar road also.

Make sure you buy something fitting, not too loose. Make sure the shoulder & elbow hard armour stay put in their position when you slide or fall.

Goodluck.

yo bro, the jacket is superbs man i know a few who wear them and till this very day they have no complains abt it abd the one problem that it has is that the stitching by the side of the jacket are not very strong and can be come off easily but overall its a nice jacket

it oso a crucial factor when buying a jacket ......

I'm interested to get this jacket as well. Went to Regina and this guy (short hair, tall, wear specs), quote me $180 and he is not interested to even drop a dollar. I saw from other forums that someone bought from them at $160.

Regina quoted me $240 for the camouflage design one.

Anyway if you are buying, can jio me also? Thanks.

After my friday nite classes, i went to regina at 8.45pm to check on the Rjay Octane jacket.

  1. The mesh quality on the chest area, wasn't as tough as my RSTaichi's mesh. I think its possible to rip it with 2 hands unlike my RStaichi mesh.
  2. The Cordura portion when you hand feel the thickness; its similar to the Alphinestar jacket hanging nearby; i think its acceptable.
  3. The stitching is double stitching.
  4. The waterproof inner liner is there, though I dun see any advantage in wearing the inner liner - its as good as wearing a raincoat inside the jacket; making you sweat under the sun. You would rather hide the inner liner in the same compartment where you keep your rain coat.
  5. The elbow & shoulder armour is hard type alright, but there is no hard spine armour - only a soft foam pad. I asked the Regina guy Darren, if he sells the Rjay armour, he say he dun. But he say he can import it & it cost only $30 extra. I ask him what about other brands of armour to fit in - he say he dun have. I tried to use my RSTaichi back armour (from Motorworld) to fit; but it can't.

So I told him the jacket is perfect in every aspect but missed on one thing - protecting the spine. What's the point spending so much money on a jacket if the spine is not protected? The spine is more important than $30.

Even when he said he promised to import the $30 spine armour, its better to buy the jacket only when the spine armour is already available at the shop.

This means that the $170 quoted previously doesn't include spine armour ; need to add extra $30. Total cost is $200 but there's potential to bargain downwards if more people buy.

I have suggested to him to visit this SBF thread & keep us updated if the spine armour is here. I have emailed him a link to this thread & hope he really comes here & update us. Perhaps he'll do what other Advertiser does:- post a one time special offer with a deadline.
