Sharing my experience with Looi's Motor.

Alot of riders would have heard about them and their good reviews, and I believed alot of supporters from the old timers, but a recent experience made me lose confidence in them.

Called Ahmad and explained to him that my bike was leaking, and he said he can order parts to fix it. Gave me a date to go down and fix my bike, which was a Tuesday.

As I am working full time, I decided to drop my bike there in advance, on a Saturday. Explained to Ahmad on the condition of the bike.

Things I asked for them to do:

Spark Plugs

Fork oil change

Check on the leaking issue (Ahmad told me it's water pump issue on the Saturday I left my bike)

Valve Clearance check

EO / Oil filter change (Since they will need to open up engine for Valve clearance, hence need to change oil)

After which, till Thursday, I heard no news from Loois Motor. No call, no response. I called them in the afternoon, and get to know that Ahmad had not even started on my bike. So much for giving them enough time by putting my bike there way earlier.

Called them on Friday to check on the status.

Here is what is done to my bike

Spark Plugs

Fork Oil Change

Valve clearance was not done, but they go ahead to do EO and Oil filter change

Told me water pump has no stock, hence cannot repair. Hello Mr Ahmad, I thought you said you will order the parts and fix it?

Brake pads was replaced WITHOUT CONSENT. I prefer using a certain brand of sinistered brake pads. And they changed it without asking me.

With the minor amount of stuffs done, I was charge a good deal of labor charges. And most importantly, not solving the critical issues for the reason I sent my bike for repair.

If I just need do these minor servicing, I could have just done it myself and would cost way more cheaper than what I am being charged.

I have liasion with Mr Lee to get the parts required, and will consider the pricing before deciding to let Looi's Motor service my bike.

Overall experience is terrible. Mr Lee is a nice person, but those in Looi's motor, I can't say the same.

Adventure.

can anyone advise me De xing motor reliable? does they over charge on 2nd hand bike purchase?

$500 for admin fee?

Hmmm. I almost bought a used bike from them if not for the lousy condition that they said was ok.

Then the interest rate back then was higher than other shops.

That's why I didn't get from them.

Having said that, my friend took a new bike from them and just paid the installment on time. No problem whatsoever.

I've Just bought a bike from Global Motor, they trade in my bike at a high price.

They have hundreds of new and used bike to choose from.

One of the friendly sales person "ah bing" who had a good knowledge of bikes.

They have a well establish financing office with a cheerful admin girl to complete the sales agreement.

Collection of my bike about a week after, my bike was indeed properly done up and their mechanic are friendly and helpful.

Happen to meet their manager checking on my buying experience, and leave me his contact for any feedback or suggestions.

Surprisingly they also deal with cars trading.

overall rating good !:thumb:

Hi guys I used to ride a Bajaj Pulsar 180 many years back. Upgraded to driving and time has come to scrap my vehicle. Really very budget constraint due to family commitments and of cos the HIGH COE therefore intending to go back to riding. Been out of touch with motorcycles for almost a decade, thus would really be appreciative if anyone could introduce a few good motorbike shops.

I'm actually looking around for preferably Class 2 or 2A rides, either new or used bikes is fine, depending on the price of cos. Thanks in advance, will probably be dropping down a few suggested shops over this weekend. :slurp::bounce:

First of all I have nothing personal against any motortiam,I am just sharing what I had experienced.

My unpleasant encounters started with Soon Hin Motors last year when my FZ6 kept stalling on the road.I went over to let the boss had a look and he immediately diagnosed that its due to clutch plates and tensioner.I chose to believe him and left my bike to be collected the following day.I test ride the bike the next day and the problems persisted.Their famous mechanic Ah M**g took a look and he told me the problem not due to clutches or tensioner but throttle body dirty and it proven to be true and so the throttle body was serviced and things was Ok.But the nightmare had just started,a funny ticking sound from the engine area was heard and I went back to Ah M**g and he told me the issue was the timing chain. He told me timing chain and tensioner must be changed together as the old chain will slack and caused the engine to stall/die.He said I can carry on riding for the time being and service my bike again when I am free. That was a friday and from a recommendation from a friend,I intended to bring it to Teck Thye at Bradell road for a 2nd opinion on saturday.True enough,my bike died on the road on sat and had to be towed to Teck Thye.Teck thye did a top overhaul(Changing timing chain, camchain sensor(as the timing chain had slacked and literally 'grind' the sensor and ruined it.) top gasket along with EO change) .

The bike seemed ok after the top overhaul but after 3 weeks later,my bike can cranked but cannot start after so many tries.I towed the bike to Planet Motors and they diagnosed it as camchain sensor faulty again.I got it changed and now brought me to this last part of my story.

A few days later, something in my mind told me to visit Unique motors in Woodlands.I went to installed some Proti screws as there was some promotion going on.The mechanic Ah W*i did the installing of the screws and he noticed that I had a new tensioner on the bike and he asked me if I had recently did anything major on my bike and I told him about the overhaul. He paused for a while and asked me if i believed that my bike would die on the road again soon after I left Unique Motors.I was dumbfolded for a while and asked him how could it be.He pushed my bike in and open up the camchain cover. To my shock, the left side of the camchain sensor was 'grinded' again.Ah W*i told me the reason which i promised him i wont disclosed but i can only said 1 part needed to be changed again to rectify this problem.Further checks by Ah W*i also revealed that the shop which did the top overhaul on my bike which was Teck thye didn't even changed a new top gasket for me, causing eo to leak into the spark plugs.he took out my 4 plugs and all 'ganna' EO.After the service at UM,my bike has been running smooth and fuction properly. It was a very painful and expensive learning experience and I would like to say that this is purely my own experiences and I am NOt in any way slandering or promoting any motortiams

Actually it is quite interesting to see that a lot of our mechanics here are like doctors in Indonesia. Just swap parts and charge to customer. Better be armed with some info yourself before doing anything major and pay for yourself.

Unless you have money to send your bike to authorized dealers for all maintenance and then have the authority to raise it up to their factory, I think this is the way to go..

I was also once quoted for clutch plate and discs for a problem that was caused by a dirt soaked gear shifter. Solved by squirting wd40 at the shifter linkages..
