A very interesting forum letter from Football365.

http://www.football365.com/mailbox/story/0,17033,8744_3806453,00.html

Look at the 2nd-last letter of the day.

A very intriguing but unconfirmed sighting....

The Funniest Thing We've Published In A Long Time

Dear sir - excellent site as always. I've been keeping tabs on the rumoured transfer gossip as I always do. Being a Liverpool fan, am always keen to keep a more attentive ear to the ground. I've been slightly disillusioned with how things will pan out this pre-season with who we've signed and the rumour mill wielding its spin with who else we may (or probably won't) get.

Well I was until this morning. I went to pick up my mum from John Lennon airport this morning when I saw a man holding a placard with the name "Drogba". I didn't think too much of it, until I saw the very man Didier Drogba approaching the man with said placard. I sidled a little closer to get within touching distance of the pair of them (I was half thinking of asking him for an autograph), when I heard the (apparent driver) say to him, "You ready for your trip to Anfield Mr Drogba". Stunned by this, I missed the opportunity to ask for the autograph (I probably looked like some idiot stood there with my jaw agape thinking of the implications of this seemingly innocuous sentence).

Given the fact that Drogba wants out, given the fact that Liverpool want a new striker, and given what I saw this morning, it can surely only be one thing behind this.

So I'm currently toying with the idea that I may have to start liking this man over the coming months.

avid (Drogba for Pool?), Somerset (but up North for a few days)

not a chance drogba will sign for liverpool..

barry and keane.. well they are really not the world class players that liverpool really need. thats the problem with liverpool, they cant splash money on big names signing..

Need not be world-class.

Now that Alonso is not going (quite a relief, actually), I would rather see Keane coming over instead of Barry.

Not world-class but he's the striker that can guarantee double-digit goals in the Premier League.

He can work alone or pair up with almost any striker (proven at Spurs). So he can slot in well with the current Gerrard-Torres partnership as well work with Kuyt or Voronin up front.

Remember ManUre's treble season?

They bought Dwight Yorke. Not world class, mind you, but scoring like nobody's business.

I have confidence that Keane can do that when employed correctly.

He might be tempted to come over with the promise of Champion's League football, something which has eluded Spurs for far too long....

yeah robbie keane can score goals...

and he like to do his trademark shooting of guns when score

yeah. wat u said is true bro. need not be world class.

i also share the same thought as u. i'd rather have keane to come over instead of barry. the central midfield is already packed with talents. gerrard, mascherano, alonso, lucas leiva and damien plessis. but mind u that barry made his mark at aston villa as a left back and its only a few seasons ago when martin o'neill took over the **** that he was shifted to central mid..

but the important point is:

it doesnt matter who liverpool sign as long as it can land us the PREMIERSHIP title, which has eluded us for such a long time. i dun wan man utd to overtake us as the team with the most english title.

Scott Carson has today signed for Barclays Premier League new boys West Bromwich Albion.

The England international goalkeeper has reportedly penned a four-year deal at the Hawthorns after the two clubs struck a deal.

Carson made nine Liverpool appearances after signing from Leeds in January 2005.

The highlight of his Anfield career came when he featured against Juventus in the quarter-finals of the 2005 Champions League.

The past two seasons have been spent on loan at Charlton and Aston Villa, in which time he has won two international caps.

Ok la.

Maybe still a raw gem.

There's a clip of him in Youtube.

Looks pretty good on-field.

I guess we'll have to see him pass the test of EPL.

Robbie Keane move rumoured to be ready by this weekend.

Keep fingers crossed.

This may yet be the sign of the season.

KEANE ON VERGE OF POOL TRANSFER

Posted 28/07/08 06:34

Robbie Keane is expected to complete his transfer from Tottenham to Liverpool later today.

According to reports, a £20m fee for the Irish striker has been agreed and Keane is on the verge of finalising his move to Anfield. The Guardian reports that 'Keane will undergo a medical today and his £20m move from Tottenham Hotspur may be completed in time for the forward to make his debut for his boyhood heroes in Liverpool's friendly in Spain against Villarreal on Wednesday.'

The player is thought to have been offered a five-year deal worth £80,000 a week. Rafa Benitez has made no secret of his wish to sign Keane - prompting Spurs to report Liverpool to the Premier League - and pair the diminutive Irishman with Fernando Torres.

Yupz,

if its really going down by today, he is worth the 20 million many times more than Barry would.

As long as Benitez plays him in the correct position.

This season might get interesting...

Keane-Torres partnership?

Robbie Keane has put pen to paper on a four-year deal at Liverpool Football Club

Fourteen years after turning down the club he grew up supporting in favour of Wolves, the Republic of Ireland captain finally completed a dream move following a medical at Melwood.

Keane is the fifth summer addition to Rafa Benitez's first-team squad after the arrival of David Ngog, Diego Cavalieri, Philipp Degen and Andrea Dossena.

The transfer is the sixth major move of a career which began with South Dublin side Crumlin United before the prodigious teenager burst onto the scene at Wolverhampton Wanderers in 1997.

A big-money move to top flight Coventry followed before Marcelo Lippi, manager of Italian giants Inter Milan, offered £13million for his services in 2000.

Keane would team up with Ronaldo and Christian Vieri in Serie A, though the move was to turn sour when Lippi was sacked.

A loan to Leeds United was arranged in December 2000, a deal made permanent six month later.

Unfortunately, Keane's arrival at Elland Road coincided with a growing financial crisis, and he was to join the exodus of stars in 2002 with a £7million transfer to Tottenham Hotspur.

Over the next few years the frontman, famed for his cartwheel goal celebration, finally settled, tallying an impressive 107 goals in 253 appearances and becoming a firm fans' favourite.

So good was his form in February 2006 that Inter president Massimo Moratti admitted his regret at letting Keane go.

Three months before departing for Merseyside he won his first senior honour as a player after helping Spurs beat Chelsea in the League Cup final.

The 28-year-old has also carved out a name for himself on the international stage having made up part of the so-called Golden Generation which emerged in the late 1990s.

The striker was part of the Irish side which triumphed in the 1998 European U18 Championships just months after making his senior bow against the Czech Republic.

His first international goal came against Malta in October 1998 and he is now the Republic's all-time record scorer ahead of Niall Quinn.

Keane famously scored a last-minute equaliser against Germany in the 2002 World Cup, one of three in the tournament.

Few were surprised when former Reds defender Steve Staunton handed him the captain's armband upon taking the Irish reins in 2006.
