Steve Jobs retires as CEO of Apple

 

The man responsible for bringing an unprofitable Macintosh business from the Apple II days back in 1998 -- to world class iPods, Mac computers, and finally the iPhones & iPads today, decided to step down.

In what many followers, technologists, and industry watchers worldwide term as unprecedented or maybe sudden, the co-founder of Apple who brought Apple to where it was today and even briefly surpassed Exxon Mobil as America's most valuable company at $340+ billion -- has stepped down from his CEO post.

However, he will remain as an Apple employee taking on an advisory role as one of the Chairman of the board. Tim Cook, former COO, fills his position.
