Oh please do not pour in those stop leak products, I have seen entire radiators ruined this way. The leak is clogged, but so are the coolant ducts and cooling efficiency becomes terrible. Take it out and get it welded at a radiator specialty shop, couple in Ubi itself along the bike shop area. Or push in let bikeshop settle.

 

Not only that, the stop leak can clog the cooling passages in the block as well, reducing the ability to take heat from the engine. This is particularly true if there are deposits and sludge from failure to maintain a clean coolant system.

thanks guys.. now doing up with a temp measure of using epoxy to patch up the leak..

thx too guys.. i change the radiator cap.. now my cbr 400 stop flushing coolant out already.. but red light still rise to half but tink tts gd enough as long as no coolant coming out.. anyway im using shell coolant

That's not going to work, been there done that. Those $5~6 off the shelf epoxy will soften at the high temps of the radiator, then the pressure inside will push the liquid past the epoxy. There are special very high temp epoxies, but that cost a bomb and only come in grease size tins. There's alot of mention by foreign bikers about JB Weld being the epoxy of choice to use, but it is not found here.

Check ur hoses for leakage and blockage, i open my hoses when i first took out from shop. else, its ur thermostat faulty.

What percentage did you mix the water and coolant? Should be max of 50/50, around here 75 percent water and 25 percent coolant should be ok.

im using the shell premix coolant.. 4gotten the name but tink is shell oat premix.. wif anti boiling, anti freeze and anti rust type..

oat? erm, isnt oat supposed to be something that we eat?aka oatmeal? anyway all shell station will sell? caz now they change to 7-11 so dunno still got sell such stuff notz.. ohz, Mr ANR Imprex, can u advise on a good coolant that doesnt have those cleaning agents? my bike is a very old bike-watercooled(liquidcooled) and there are alot of patched up jobs on the radiator as of now. i'm worried that if i were to add coolant now, the cleaning agents in the coolant will remove the little debris that clogs whatever small hole there is in the radiator...hope u understand...right now i'm just using pure water for coolant ala motogp style, but i was advised to flush per 6 mnths...

Guys, I am thinking of getting a Shell coolant, but can coolant be mixed with other coolant?

anyone knows where to get Cool Aide for mixing type? Only pre mixed types which i hv seen.

Today is the first time i diy coolant change.

 

When i drained out, about 1.2L came out(measured afterwards). Flush using the vinegar method.

 

But when i pour in the fresh coolant, i could only put in about 1L into the rediator cap. I pour in slowly and rev. but after some time when i rev, the coolant seem like almost spilling out of the radiator cap. So i stop at 1L.

 

So what should i do? I read in the S4 forum tt s4 shld hold 2.2L of coolant.

 

And the radiator should 'know' when to suck the coolant from the resevoir correct? So i top up from there; no need to open radiator cap everytime?

 

Any advice?

when u rev the bike, the coolant sure will spill out cos the coolant pump is working.. by rite, when u rev a bit.. let it idle a while.. the water level will drop suddenly.. if the pressure build up in the radiator is not strong enough, the water may not draw from the reservoir..

After flushing the radiator and refilling it with fresh coolant, you probably finds it odd that it holds lesser water then before, you are short of warming up the engine. Doing so, the thermostat in the cooling system will open when it achieve certain temperature, and you will see that the water level in the radiator drop, this is when you add the remaining water into the radiator, and close it with a proper and working radiator cap.

how to flush my gilera runner coolent?

 

what should i buy to top up or flush my runner coolent?

 

You can flush your own coolant with 50% distilled water and 50% white vinegar.

 

The mild acid in it will helps to clear the scaling in the radiators. Car Coolant flush is too harsh, stay away from it.

the concentrate ones and ready made ones difference is the ratio of water and coolant and save the hassle of mixing of the rite proportion..

cos water is the best conductor of heat compare to coolant.. therefore too much coolant proportion than water will reduce the heat transfer from engine to surrounding.. too less coolant proportion will not be sufficient to avoid any rusting to the cooling system..

hi guys.. i just started using coolaide... my mech accidently addded water to d mixture wen u not suppose to rite?? but ever since i use coolaide my bike seems to be much hotter.. y is dat so?
