P plate on 2b newbies is a must

P plate on big bikes can be laughable but it could be for a real reason for a rider who just started riding again after a long time.

Today while riding, I was having a go at all the Singaporean hoggers. Generally bullying every single hogger by overtaking them at about 150 to 180, I took particular pleasure in cutting more abruptly into S'porean cars, occasionally giving them the finger just for the fun of it

But its ok, they can't catch me, and I get to keep my license. Its NSH after all. Today, safety went out of the window. Its quite a pleasure putting the Singaporean cars in their rightful place, as if all the pent-up frustration of taking sh*t from them for months silently while riding safely was unleashed on those poor sods who were unluckily enough to cross my path. Yet I gave a friendly wave to some cars who made way for my convoy, but dished out the sh*t to those who deserved it.

Today I was judge and jury. Another day I might have crashed. But today I ride

Coming back to Singapore, it was "back to normal" again. I saw the dark side of me today.

P-plate should be an attitude to safety and riding. There's always more to learn.

This is the kind of behaviour on the NSH that gives us bikers a bad name. I do admit that I make countless overtakes from the left on the NSH, but always try not to cut back too near the car. How would you feel if a car overtakes you at high speed, then cut right infront of you?

Agreed. I was getting carried away with the speed. Hopefully it doesn't happen again

The distance was far and we were raring to go home from a long trip. Traffic was heavy and we weren't going to crawl behind Singapoean hoggers so all of us were weaving in and out.

But I'm back to normal today, riding slowly to tuitions, easing into lane 3 in heavy traffic and taking the sh*t like everyday from all those cagers in silence.

Yep, really had to give it a go yesterday. It was reckless but it was over.

That sense of control can be misleading. I felt in control, but it was an illusion. You only realize you weren't in control when u lose it

Somewhere along this trip I almost crashed when I was riding safe because some oncoming moron couldn't make it back into his lane in time attempting an overtake while we were all in a long bend along Camerons. i lost the front while e braking into the outside, into debris, but somehow came through by releasing the brakes in time and kicking the ground. Control is fleeting. You can lose it in an instant.

Santa was watching over me on this trip

I've seen too many dangerous driving today, including a Mercedes that cut acrossed 2 lanes! I managed to pull next to the driver and it's a very young gal. Nope, she's not pretty. She's the nerdy type. I was sure she's 16, the type I see in secondary schools. Next to her I think was her mom and they were talking a lot.

I'm finishing my delivery job and hopefully I can get away from bad drivers. I gotta admit. Yesterday was good. Not much traffic. I wish everyday was like that

At times I'm really not sure what is safe anymore. I'm pretty liberal about this and open to fresh inputs. My opinion is that you can influence your risk to a large extent, but you are never totally in control. It sounds like a cliche, but let me relate my experience.

I used to ride 100/110 local in lanes 1 & 2. It was easy riding and I only watched out for faster cars from behind and impatient lane cutters from lane 2. Of late I'm going for lanes 3 and 2 and keeping left whenever there is a gap there, cruising slowly. I find that when I do this I take a lot more crap from cagers doing last minute exits and impatient motorists wanting to get to the "faster" lanes. I've also tried lane splitting non-stop at every opportunity faster than traffic, like the NSH riding style, tuned down for local laws. Honestly the risk levels seems pretty clear cut to anyone reading this but I sometimes wonder, considering how I hear about how different accidents happen, first hand or otherwise, whether it is really all that clear cut. I was pretty jaded about safety when a driving instructor friend who was an epitome of safety passed away from an innocent "safe" ride, and more so with every friend or aquaintance I lose. But perhaps this is the way I like to live my life, not being too certain about what tomorrow and the next ride brings. Bikers' attitude? Carpe diem

safe to me, riding a bike that you can handle turns when you need to in emergency, picking up speed when there's a need to avoid situations and cruise when you want to ;)
