Road shoulder Issue

When I was riding to work today, first time on expressway (PIE) , was following a bike on the leftmost lane, then there was a lorry very close to the left lane marking, the bike in front went onto the left side of the lane marking, but wheel still touching the white line (but never went to the middle of road shoulder lah) I also follow, then when we pass the lorry we went back to the left lane, ALAMAK! about 100m is a TP.

 

Now very worried will kena points. Any people here got similiar experience, know whether will be summoned of not?

the tp might just copy ur number plate number in his note book,u will receive a letter from tp within few weeks time,the summon is $150 & 6points,

So do they just copy and send letter, without stopping you on the road?

If ur purpose is just to overtake the lorry and u moved back into the lane immediately after overtaking, tink the tp might still give chance. But if u continue to ride on the shoulder even after overtaking, then good luck to you.

Mi above statements are based on the ground that if u exceed the speed limit for the purpose of overtaking a vehicle in front but reduce ur speed once u have done that, chances are tp will close one eye.

I believe it is an offence as it is considered to be a hazard to both yourself and other road users. Was there a traffic congestion on the expressway when you did that? If there was, you should keep between the center and outer most lane to overtake other vehicles.

 

My brother was stopped by the TP officer for riding on the road shoulder during a traffic congestion but lucky for him the officer only gave him verbal warning as he had an accident to attend to ahead . Nonetheless, pray that everything's all right during these 2 weeks, man.

Please get your facts right. Overtaking from the left is ILLIGAL. If you overtake from the left and using the road soulder you could be charged for illigal overtaking and also riding on road shoulder.

Riding at the midle of the road shoulder or at it's side does not make any difference. Once you crossed the line you are usining it illigaly.

 

Now just wait and hope the you will get no summon.
