[Archived - 2009] PK Official- Questions for Newbie

Hi guys, since this is a thread for newbies, I shall post my questions here..

Pls advice..

1. My TA200 starts to vibrate at 70km/hr. I mean the engine sound changed from the normal sound to a high pitch sound. So what does it means when the engine vibrates? Is it some valve opened?

2. When the engine vibrates, does it do harm to my engine?

3. Does it mean that if i use 6th gear at a low RPM, I will save fuel?

Feb 06 till Present - Phantom TA200 Custom 4

Sometimes Results may be Disappointing, but it's never Discouraging..

1) TA200 does not have RC valve. TA200 is prone to vibrations, in other words, what you are describing is nothing uncommon

2) The only time an engine does not vibrate is when it is not running

3) Theoretically, running at a lower RPM means lower fuel consumption. But FC is affected by many other factors, bike payload, road condition, bike condition etc... so I doubt you will see much saving of fuel just by intentionally running your bike at low RPM.

Hello.

I am currently considering if I should buy a 1st hand phantom. I need the bike to travel to work.. so I will use the bike for at least 3 years.

There are couple of doubts which I hope someone can help to clear my doubts.

1) Is phantom's stock tyres reliable? Is it going to be like those NSR IRC stock tyre or this wave tyre?

2) Will you experience heavy trembling of the bike when travel at a speed of 100km/hr?

3) What is the differences between TA150 and TA200? Please include the differences in prices and spec...

Thanks in advance.

Class 2B: 11 May 2001 | Class 2A: 06 Oct 2009 | Class 2: 21 Dec 2010

I hope I can answer all yr question..

1) Is phantom's stock tyres reliable?

Orignal Phantom uses Stock Tyres...not very good in wet whether...therefore, most of the PK change the tyre after using for awhile.

Is it going to be like those NSR IRC stock tyre or this wave tyre?

Don't know much about NSR or Wave.

2) Will you experience heavy trembling of the bike when travel at a speed of 100km/hr?

There will be vibration, no trembling....Phantom is not made for traveling high speed. Phantom will start to screem. Careful adjustment and maintenance is needed is you are constantly traveling at 100. Try Ah Koon...he did a good job for me....My max is 110 on highway, but always tell myself to stay below 100....:thumb:

3) What is the differences between TA150 and TA200? Please include the differences in prices and spec...

TA150 - 2 Stoke

TA200 - 4 Stoke

TA150 - Pick up faster and more powerful

TA200 - For leisure riding

TA150 - FC higher

TA200 - Fuel efficient

TA150 price is slightly lower than TA200...please do yr homework in the buy and sell sticky thread.

I was trying to spray chain lub on my TA200 chain when I encountered this fundamental problem:

How to turn the rear wheel on a side stand

Couldn't think of anything so sprayed the lub on where ever the chain is exposed...

Hi.. Got a question here.

I went to re-fill my 2t for my TA 150 today.

I put in about 500ml of Putoline RS 959.

I'm unsure of the amount to pour so I poured 500ml.. Petrol still got about 7/8 tank full.

Anything wrong?

wat u mean by this?

I thought my 2T must be added in proportion to my amount of petrol.

I poured about 500ml of 2T with my petrol tank about 7/8 full (slightly more than 75% filled)

I think should be ok since so long already and nothing happen.

Hi,

I spent the whole afternoon read thru this thread but only managed to go to pages 15. It's like reading user manual, can never finish. In order to cut short time, did anybody mentioned the difference between the usual Phantom or Phantom Custom? I heard from yr 04 onwards, it's already Phantom Custom 4. Is this true? Is it an upgraded version of the older version Phantom? Can anyone point out the different and the improvement or disadvantages of the Phantom Custom 4?

Tks pal.

Best Regards,

Best Regards,

Custom 4. New Speedometer, Fuel indicator, Key lock, Key hole is at the top panel instead of at the side, new exhaust design. I beleive there is no change in engine design and the frame (Snr, correct me if I am wrong).....

Advantage or Disadvantage? To me is just the look.....but we will have to pay slightly more to get Custom 4.....

I am a safe and performance guy, so I go for Phantom TA200 Custom instead of custom 4. I rather spend money in a good pair of tyre, chain and spoket....:thumb:
