BTW, how long have you had your license? When was the last speeding offence and are there any other point offences in your record?

5 years and last year I had a 3 pts deduction + $130 fine but it has already been a year. I checked my records through the net(provided by helpful SBF brothers and sisters) and it has already been cleared.

they ought to suspend your license...cos u dont give a damn about others' lives....not to mention yours...

why should the judge spare a thought for your license when you didnt spare a thought for your own life?

You don't have to add in your comments if you don't like it. Swear if you have never speed in your years of riding. No matter whether you are a young guy/lady, uncle or auntie, you will have this urge to go fast sometimes for some reason or others.

Bro, preceding information is fyip.

1. Exceeding the road speed limit of 40 km/h but not more than 50 km/h will earn you 12 demerit points plus $170 fine for light vehicles or $200 fine for heavy vehicles. You will also have to go to court.

I'm not sure what is the purpose of going to court though. You might want to plead for leniency when you face the judge though.

2. You will not get your license revoked if you are not a probationary plate rider. You will also not get your license revoked if you have 0 - 11 pts at the time that you commit the offence.

Hope that helps. Ride slowly from now on. Take care bro.

Thanks but well, now I am actually more worried about the court thing. I wonder how much would they fine me?

Someone actually mentioned that I can go to TP HQ to appeal. Would that help and what do I do/say when I am there?

I always take that road to go to work every morning and i tell you. That Tampines road (heading towards Hougang) which you mentioned is infamous for its speedtrap camera. Esp about 100metres away from the back gate of Paya Lebar Airbase. At least 2x a month.

So the best way is to slow down (after 2 bus stop) after you come out from Old Tampines Road to 70km/h and all will be fine.

In the morning, from Hougang to Tampines also got TP. Guess what. I saw TP along Tampines Rd heading towards old Tampines Rd again, 2 days in a row.

Seriously i don't understand the rationale of catching people speeding along Tampines Rd. The road is so long and empty and no dangerous bends as well. 70kmph along that road is too low in my opinion...

Quite true. I think most people speed when there are no other cars around. I don't know like that how to endanger other people's lives. Anyway, let's be frank, all of us will speed if got chance. Unless your bike can't run.

40 over isn't a big deal...depends where your riding. If your in a built up area..sure 40 over can be a bad thing.

Sorry you got caught..

i also kanna b4 at thomson road before thomson plaza...exceed 31-40km/hr...fine i think 150 or 160 cant remember, 8 demerit pts...appeal 2 times to TP no use...

speeding offences i think if you appeal not much use...other offences easier to waiver off...

2007 - ??? Yamaha R1

Hi People,

I am new here and would like some questions answered. I tried to look for the answers but i got more confused.

I was caught for speeding above 40km/hr on a 90 stretch of road. The officer who stopped me told me that i have to attend court. Can I ask :

1) Does that mean my licence will be revoked/suspended?

2) Will I be fined?

Hope to get some replies asap. I am very worried as this was my first time and so suey.

above 40?? so wat's the exact speed??

above 61 then deduct 24 pts = revoked ... :goodluck:

Exact is 131. If I kena 24pts I think I will die first.

Speeding is speeding...

If you kena caught, there is no good or valid reason for them to let you off

If you are talking about me, I never said anything about letting me off. I just want to find out what will happen. Deduct pts they will, fine they will but how much? Will they revoke/suspend my licence?

Mine is just a general statement...

Your license is quite long liao... may not get revoked cos got 24 points.... but points and fine cannot run one lah....

Plus court case will depends on your luck, no one will be able to tell you what the judge will sentence

Totally agree that the urge to go faster is always there. BUT...how much faster?

I found out by experience that it doesn't take a very high speed to cause serious injuries.

Picture a traffic jam on the PIE towards Changi during morning rush hour. I was riding between lanes, flanked by near stationary 4 wheelers on both sides, when a car infront steered ever so slightly into my already very narrow path. I couldn't stop in time and there was no where to siam. WHAM, my bike smashed into the car, i got thrown off my bike and i also dunno how my left collar bone snapped and helmet ( approved type hor )cracked open cos i blacked out....

Here's the crux of the matter:

i was going around 65 kmh...e-braking proabably took 15-20kmh off...so lets say i hit the car at 50kmh.

How much worse would a 100kmh collision be? How much worse then if you go 131kmh and hit something?

Nowadays, to prevent myself from going too fast, my practice is to clutch-in once my speed reach 90kmh on expressway. I'll just free-wheel for abit.."glide" along for a while, then gradually engage the clutch...letting the engine brake bring the speed down...then throttle enough to match the reduced speed.

Ultimately, its not about getting caught or not getting caught. Its about getting there alive and in 1 piece. Be safe. Control your urges.

DO. Or DO NOT. There is no TRY.
