Accident Insurance Claim

recently got involved in an accident. i was going straight, light's green in my favour and this car U turn and bang me.. making claims now. juz wana ask who got similar experience, or has frenz who has similar experience..

wad will the claim amt be like? and how long does it takes b4 the money comes in?

the driver has acknowledged fault alr.

 

so in trouble cuz bought sum stuff on credit.. den no savings.. now kena accident so 3 mth nv work.. very jialat.. no money..

straight forward case like this (almost similar to mine) take a long time also... since 29 March 2005 till now, my case still pending:)

it depends how straightforward your case is.

has your injury been totally healed with no further latent injuries?

have you quantified your losses and submitted them to the insurer or your lawyer? if not, they are still waiting for you to do so.

how straightforward it is depends on how TP take how straightforward is your case (My case took them near 1 year to come out with a verdict). How the other party deems how straightforward (my case she admitted on the spot took 6 months after the court to award the liabiility percent to me). How the other party's insurance company deems how straightforward (my case is now pending because the other insurance company is totally ignoring my lawyer's letter and playing catch monkey trick)

Ya it depends. I got into an accident last year in Late June 2006 and till now just received a letter from my lawyer to sign the affidavit letter. But the other party have already agreed that it their fault and the third party insurance have agreed to pay 90% of the full amount. As for the amount, its unknown. So for now its 90% of nothing.

 

For the past 1 yr my bills, repair and operation costs me near 12k already. Now still hoping to get the money.

what about claim amt? how much is it roughly like, in terms of compensation on top of medical bills?

The $$ depends alot on your current earning, your qualification etc etc.... other than that, your injuries claim is...er... straightforward. keke.. Have fun waiting... don't pin too high hope on the claim... it will just keep disappointing you again and again and again:)

you should ask your lawyer all these questions that you are putting up here. he would know your situation much better than any of us.

oh yes i did.. but i heard stories abt some lawyers not being transparent and taking more than their cut.. so juz curious abt the rough claim amount.

it's hard to be rider.. always haf to safe guard against being carrot.

Claim amount will be damages for bike damage, and injuries. Faster if driver just settle direct with ya, especially if driver has acknowledged fault.

 

Can separate the bike damage and injuries claims, but I doubt any driver will want to settle one but not the other, because if you claim on their insurance in any way they will lose the No Claim Bonus, no longer any incentive to settle.

 

If lawyer is involved, and the claim is more than $5,000, then the amount that you pay to your lawyer is decided by the Public Trustee. Other side would contribute a part of your legal costs.

Illegal for lawyers in Singapore to enter into this "take a cut" of damages arrangement. In US it is possible and popular.
