Engine ice is a coolant.

Lean running comes from the ratio of petrol/air mix.

Can you please explain how engine ice makes the engine run leaner?

Thank you.

Picks up heat slow, but when it does actually heats up, the temperature takes a damn long time to drop. For me, i switched from regular coolant to waterwetter, it does serve me well. at least one thing i noticed, my radiator fan do not open so often now.

what bike u using?

Battery water IS distilled water....

Battery acid, is another thing altogether.

I also think battery water spec shld be higher, since battery will spoil very fast if purity of water is not up to standard. It also states 3ppm max Ca (calcium) on the bottle. Drinking water over shoot also no effect on human. Besides battery water is cheap, only 2~3 bucks for the amount needed for typical sportbike.

I would think that the more llikely reason for the bike overheating is that the radiator system was not bled of air thoroughly.

There are specific steps to do in order to correctly top up an empty radiator. If the person simply poured in the new coolant without running the engine till the thermostat opens and circulates the coolant, there will be air pockets left in the system and this will result in a significantly less amount of coolant being poured into the radiator.

This will in turn result in the radiator not able to function properly and may lead to overheating.

Also, is the bike's cooling system working properly? thermostat, fan, fan motor, fan switch, temperature sensor, water pump etc

I would believe that all coolants will work, some better than the others. But should not cause any bike to overheat unless some parts of the cooling system is not working properly.

Past: KDX200, LC4 400, LC4 620, GSXR750WR

Present: CBR900RRY, Gas Gas EC250, XR250L, XR250RV, XR400 (motard-ed), NX650 Dominator

i tried WW + tap water, much cooler than WW + coolant + water, but temp shoots at traffic lights / jams.

If i remember my o level phsics, something like, low heat capacity = better conductor of heat, which agrees with what many others said too.

Which is why temp shoots up when not moving, coz theres nothing removing heat from the radiator. So all that heat generated by your engine is going to stay in the water = high temperature.

I believe dis is not a problem for bikes with fan, once it kicks in, your temp will go down again.

on a side note : it seems that maxima stuff are great for everything they make hor? Seems that there's always some hype about everything they make, from gear oil, 2T to coolant. I must try them one day. :D

for sale :

rotax 122 clutch basket - very low wear, see to believe!

25 piece cdr - brand new $8

17" monitor - flickers when cold $10

castrol chain wax & chain spray - still a lot left $5

If u're running a combo like mine, its better to stay away from traffic jams. Within 5 mins of traffic light, temp can shoot by up to 5C

I think the reason why william's friend overheated was more likely due to CBD traffic jams / customs.

Why dun car have this kind of problem? i suppose???? any 1 can tell mi the different between a car cooling system vs a bike cooling system?

i use Toyota Coolant and with a couple of capfuls of ZX-1 to protect the water pump for my 4 wheels.

ref: http://www.team-zx1.com/FAQs

i choose an air-cooled engine for my 2 wheels to prevent any water radiator problem

today is a better day than yesterday and the day before
