Value for money means, it can last for many years, cushion dont become so soft, fit stays secure. And lastly, its not too pricey..

If possible pls state which model.

Thanks.

Bro if it's not too pricey, a few of the brand above that u mention have to be taken out already.

HJC CL14 less than $200 snell aprroved.

Last for many years, I dont suggest that, the ploymers inside will harden and offer less protection.

So I wont pay too much for a helmet that need to change every 2-3 years.

Snell approved offer similar protection regardless of brand.

I am happy with my AC 11 cost $300.

Hiya,

You can take Shoei, Arai, OGK out of your list. The entry level helmets of the mentioned brands are not exactly worth the price you pay for them. You pay the premiums for the brand name. On the other hand, higher range models offer safety features that are worth the price you pay for.

HJC would most probably fit your needs, based on your requirements. They offer value for money (not necessarily cheap) if you choose the better models. Please don't be mistaken that value for money does not translate to mean cheap (if that is how you see it, you can stop reading at this point now), many make that mistake and get disappointed when actually buying the helmets.

A word of advice, helmets are something you do not want to stinge on. Get the best possible one according to your budget. There's plenty to choose from, don't get swayed by sales talk from the shops. Use the Net and trawl for information, read helmet reviews from independent testers, and finally, go out there and try the helmets yourself. Make sure that they are properly fitted before finally buying them. If you feel that the helmet does not seem right, for whatever reason, look for other models. Why? Because if it does not feel right now, and you are hoping that it will eventually (standard sales pitch talk), trust me...........it won't, and this can be especially irritating when you are riding up the NS highway and you have 10 more hours before you reach your destination. If the padding bites into your ears or the crown does not sit properly when trying it at the shop, it will always be like that even after repeated use, and eventually, it would be used less and less and finally, you will stop using it (and that was not the original plan, right?).

Hope that helps.

yup..agree..

value for money to my understanding means that the quality you are getting for the price exceeds others.

that does not mean cheap...

bro nothing is impossible...

and i think an arai with a 600+ price tag isnt that pricey compared to those racer's replica which cost 800+

Posted

And yes... Value for money and less pricey doesnt mean cheap...

If i want a cheap helmet i would already bought one from carrefour JB.. less than RM200...

Posted

But one more question.

Those who brought the helmet more than $600?

Are u willing to change the helmet after 3 years?

Cos other than the outer shell, is the form like polymers that stop the impact.

From 25km/h - 0km/h at the point of impact is stopped by the few cm of polymers.

They do harden after in our climate.

But now the highest stardard for street helmet are M2000 and M2005 the latest standard.

I suggest, even without PSB apporved, buying thoes helmets are muched protective.

I 100% snell approved can pass PSB but PSB can pass snell approved???

Think about it!

Value for money? Go for Nolan.

You need times for your head and helmet "mating" together.

I give you a tips. If you feel any pressure point at your head. Remove your helmet and use your thumbs press the part that cause you head pain, try for few times then should be OK-liao,

there is another way of looking at the situation. u buy a arai half face for around 500, take out cushion can wash, the padding get thinner replaceable, and take so much care that it doesnt get scratches.

or buy ah boy thh or hyper racing for 30, take out cushion can wash. visor cheap. the time the helmet got enough scratches or the padding get thinner can throw away buy new one.

I'd like to see that theory being used on bikes....

If we can afford to splurge on on getting our bikes in tip-top condition with expensive parts i don't see the reason y we shouldn't get a decent helmet to protect our heads.

After all, i don't think our heads cost less than a few grands.

FYI. BMW helmet carbon helmet damn good to invest, if you have that kind of money. I guess can use for life time, just change the inner lining only :D

U mean BMW polymers inside wont harden over time?

That the problem of buying too ex helmet.

In the first place everyone wants a safe helmet and pay a premium for it but over time it will degrade and many choose to believe it can offer same protection as in new? I reckon that.....

Friends, the most important portection of the helmet is the polymers that crashed upon impact, not ur cushion or outer case.

I recommand just buy the cheapest snell approved helmet u can find.Highest stardard for street helmets.

whats the cheapest full face around wanan get for gf as she goign for lessons juz simple plain black will do. budget around 200

Go for lesson u want her to use a fullface? Better not lah, it will kill her, it's so ###### hot if u are doing tat type of speed. when a person is hot, it will affect her performane also, just get a good open face will do. if not get her a flip up. HJC cl-max is $190, MHR is ard $130, Zeus not sure but should be less than $150.

going for lesson using full face.you want to her to get aim by instructors?if learning 2A or 2 than maybe still can put up with it but if learning 2B....better get a hyper open face helmet for lowest budget or get MHR since you got $200 budget.

Speed isn't very fast in circuit.so if you worry that she might fall down, i think best you get her some knee and elbow padding.fully protected i would say.

Index fullface is another budget fullface, the design is also very nice, best is go thailand and buy, is so much cheaper. is only ard 800baht, $30+ sing. Too bad they always come with mercury or very dark visor which is not approve here.
