Dear all

I am new here. Recently just fall in love with SM but it kind of expensive for new bike. Thinking of getting a old scramble to mod it. Can you guy advice me it is legal to do it or the LTA approval it when you go for inspection.

Hope you guy can give me your expertise.

Thank in advance.

M400. To convert a Pre-owned dirt bike to Motard setup is way much cheaper and fun

(Provided u like to go hunt for the parts and do research on it) But the LTA is not going to approve your bike with this kinda setup. They(LTA) required full bike manufacturing specs before allowing it to be on the road.

So now you've 2 choices.

1.Buy a brand new or 2nd Street legal DRZ SM400

2. Just go ahead and buy that dirt bike and convert it to motard anyway (better choice) And join us on the roads.

:lovestruck:

DRZ SM owners. No pun intended.

Life is a journey, just pick the right bike.

I got like 1.8k buxx now for everything.

where is the 1.2k motard kit. I went to dirt wheel the other day, the lady said that the motard kit is like 2k without disc brake. And I was like wow.

:faint:

I was told by one guy I met that he got the motard set (no discs or sprocket) from dirtwheel for his KTM200 (2.5"/3.5" plain alloy rims on KTM hubs) for 1.6k. Anyway, I think he had a good/special relationship with the shop, hence the good price. That's the best I've heard for a new set of motard wheels.

If you have a 400 and need the 3.5"/4.25" setup it will cost more and if you want the Excel rims, more again, supply your own hubs (dismantle your dirt wheels, not advised) it will cost less, Talon hubs are much more expensive. Tyre choice can/will also increase the price.

I finally got my setup 2nd hand. Requires patience to get the right wheels for your bike at the right price and they are pretty hot these days after the recent races so they are being snapped up quickly when they come on the market.

StingRhea> you asking me? Haven't fitted my SM rims to my KTM yet.

I'm easy to spot, funny looking 6'1" botak angmoh mostly riding a CBR150R Repsol with the lower half of the front fairings removed.

1.6k is considered CHEAP for a NEW set of SM rims/hubs with tryes.

Seems that most people post them up 2nd hand in the 1k range for the larger sizes (3.5/4.25 for KTM/WR etc) and the smaller ones (2.5/3.5) are going for considerably less.

Anyway I also got mine CHEAP. And they came fitted with 120/70 and 150/60 GPR70's. No brake discs but the comes with the sprocket.
