Just bought a Sym Magic yesterday from Mah Motors for $3300 OTR with IU with box and helmet threw in. Did I tio tok? Tio also tio tok around $100 nia right? Well, if that is the case, won't shop there again coz the salesman say their price lowest liao so I never check the price with a 2nd shop. If bo hor( tio tok more than $100 that is), then next time I also go there buy... so enlighten me.

Bought this cub coz cannot tahan petrol price and taxi fare. From Potong Pasir go to Tanjong Gul Camp for reservist is torture man. Take bus and MRT is around $3 and 2hrs journey. Take taxi is 40mins and $18. So the 1st thing in camp ended yesterday, I went to buy this cub kia coz in camp I hear Honda Wave only 4k and 1 litre of petrol can go nearly 40km. Then at Mah Motor, hear that Magic fuel consumption better( look a bit nicer also)... plus the price cheap cheap... walk out to check price at another shop... walk 10m decide mai waste time... turn back and buy liao.

Don't know why hor, other people keep upgrading I keep downgrading haha. Sold TZM coz lampa pain coz the fuel tank, sold Phantom coz buang coz of lanjiao balance after installing a box( the bike is too long?). Glad to know I not the only cheapo around. :p

Interested in a sound system with capability to play MP3 or with USB connection, possible to get one?

Think should be cheaper if they not using left over COE for the bike. I bought in late Dec, the bike came with a Nov COE. So I think you should expect a previous month COE price to be the prevailing price when u buy.

been running in my magic for 1 week plus, clocked 617km along the way

oil changed at 50km, 450km

max 60km/h until 300km

max 70km/h currently

fuel consumption averaging around 53km/l

changed tires to tubeless dunlop tt900 80/80 front 80/80 rear

goin to change oil at 950km, max speed 70km/h until 800km then change to max 80km/h until 1500km

changing to fully synthetic oil at 1500km, change new spark, after that can try speeds exceeding 80km/h... wil keep track on the fuel consumption at every speed, hope to get at least 50km/l after running in...

Hey fellow magicans need to check something with u all hor. My electric start hor... Press the button and open the throttle a bit then can start one leh. And the choke position hor... I still dunno how to use wahahaha... someone messed with my choke... i struggled to motordiam then I know got choke hahaha... I tot cub kia bo choke one. :p

So the questions are...

1. Is it normal for starting engine to need to open throttle a bit?

2. The choke position anyone know S and R stand for wat? The manual I totally catch no ball.

3. Top up petrol hor, petrol over the inner cap rim will overflow and be drained away( wastage?).

Pls answer question 1 at least coz I nearing 1000km and going in for 1st servicing.

So far the only thing I not happy is needing to open throttle when starting so just wondering if it is coz spark plug or battery weak or it is like dat one.

Oh yes, I also buay song the optimum fuel consumption speed is around 60km/h nia. Go to 80km/h is 4th gear 3/4 throttle liao.

1. my magic doesnt require to open throttle for starting with electric starter.

however, if i use the kick starter, i need to kick at least 2-3 times, also without opening of the throttle...

2.i'm also very confused by the manual regarding the choke. To me, the lever turned all the way to the right side is considered OFF. I have never used it b4 by the way.

3. I dun think got wastage. I always top up to the brim, until can see abit of petrol level. I only pump max 2.6l whenever i hit the 'E' region.

Currently, i have covered 960km on my 21day old magic

stil I'm running in until 1500km, now max speed i going 80km/h only

average consumption rate is about 53km per l

engine oil change at 50km, 450km, 950km

dunlop tt900 front 80/80 rear 80/80

1. Ya I found it is coz I set the idling speed too slow. I increased the idling rpm and no problem liao. Lower the idling rpm coz wanna save petrol. :p

2. Assume North is the direction u riding in. South is point to the behind of bike. You mean turn the lever until it point directly to rear of bike? Then point North your guess is open or close? Point West is open or close... The manual the english machiam like the author fail PSLE one.

3. What I mean hor... is I top up until above the inner cap rim. inside the fuel tank there is like a round rim, I top up until above it... like dat is in drainage area liao? The fuel guage total cmi hor. Really ****ed up hahaha. Right now, I carrying 1 liter of petrol in my storage box to find out whether they mean the 0.6l reserve is when the needle hit the E region or when the needle fall below the E reqion. Not knowing the real road range of the bike really scary to me. The manual say got 3.6l capacity but I hit lower E region top up also not even 3l nia. I suspect must hit below the red region then is really left 0.6l. Gonna ride until tank totally empty to find out actual fuel capacity and km range.

And hor, the exhaust hor... is it correct to have 2 tiny holes along the lenght below where exhaust also can exit one hor? My previous bikes exhaust can exit from the end one nia so I bery the puzzled... T.T

Oil change = none ( waiting for >900km/h)

The default Yukohama tires not bad what. why change?

regarding the fuel gauge, i have observed it for so long, i can say once the needle hit the RED color region (the black line), 2.6 l has been used up. As wat the manual indicates, (the tank capacity is 3.8 l, and once hit the E region, there wil be 0.6 l left)... i reckon u can ride until the needle touch the end of the RED region, tats where u can pump in 3.2 l.

I changed to dunlop tires becos the yokos r actually tubes running on sport rims, think tubeless better la...

Yeah the rear drum brake quite weak. But have you ever fishtailed( rear skid) before due to rear tire locking? Personally I prefer a weak rear brake as I do not wanna fracture my hand again. With a top speed of only 100km/h... the drum brake should be ok. The front brake is disc so it is more powerful than the rear. However if you should feel a need for stronger rear braking power, I think you should replace the drum brake with a disc one. Those motortiams should be able to mod it for you i think.
