Greetings fellow bikers,

I have recently started to take my Class 2A again. (The last time I took it was 3 years ago I completed only 1 lesson than as I went overseas for studies, I naturally stopped.)

So I just renewed my Class 2A lessons and will be going for the first lesson this Friday.

The question that I am asking is

1) Do I need to wear elbow and knee guard for lesson? Is a riding jacket (with CE approve armor) allowed instead?

2) Is there any change in current procedure. As far as I can remember, a) come early, 2) submit the log book to instructor, 3) lesson, 4) collect log book.

Is this procedure correct?

Thank you guys for assisting me with my enquiries.

Cheers

Garang

for ur 1st qns i can onli say that u call the sch and chk it out is better..

IMO wearing a riding jacket in ssdc is too hot to wear it as the cars and bikes ard make it worse and the speed they going is OMG ..

2) yes is correct =) GL to u

Yes an armoured jacket will be accepted, but they'll issue you a set of elbow and knee guards anyways. Unless you've got armoured pants you'll have to put on the knee guards though.

Those who risk nothing, do nothing, achieve nothing, become nothing.

no matter what jacket u wear,u'll have to wear the knee and elbow guards...anyways u dun have to worry bout the smell cos they'll give u new sets...

nothin to be shame bout cos everyone wears it...haha..

how come 2A lessons still need to wear guards? i think wearing leather jacket might cause you to have a heat stroke until the hot sun while waiting sia.. weather so warm.. wearing the guards would be enough man..

2a and 2b makes no different...for 2b means ur quite new to bikes...for 2a even with experience with 2b bikes,2a bikes are way more heavier....so it's just like learning somethin new...anyways some 2a learners haven't ride for quite some time cos they wanna save their licence for the big bike...

Thanks for the answer myxilplix.

The reason I ask is because I am already wearing a riding jacket for daily riding and I was thinking why would I need to take it off the put on elbow guards which offer a much lesser protection.

Thank you for your assistance guys.

Since this thread is here. I shall make use of it.

I just had my first class 2A practical in 3 years. I was looking forward to it. Must get used to more cc thus more power. It was fun indeed. Instructor 5643 was very helpful and constructive in his comments which I appreciate indeed.

However it seems I must have accidently offended one of the instructor at SSDC. The first incident was when I was talking to the Senior Instructor Ramani, instructor 558*, came up looked at me and made the comment "Wah this one straight away want to be one of our Instructor." The second comment was when I fell while doing the Figure 8, my instructor came to ask if I was alright. The same instructor than said, "Aiyah dont worry, he got full gear on." And than the third comment was after the whole lesson and asked "So how Rider, feel good?"

As Instructors should always give constructive comment, and the comments I received were not in anyway constructive at all.

Based on this rationale, I have been led to believe that I must have offended the Instructor in some way or another either, through physically blocking him (or step on his toes or something along that line), or offended him through my inferior skills on the motorcycle or the the attire (riding jacket with CE armor) that I was dressed in.

Therefore I apologise to the Instructor for any offence I may have commited against you.

dun worry bro,we all know the instructor are like that....furhermore u wearing full suit sure they talk bad bout u....but that shouldn't stop u.....some times u just ask some enquiry bout the course, they answer rudely....

Thanks vtech, nevertheless I enjoyed the session, and believed that I have benefited from the lesson and Instructor 5643 guidance. I was hoping to immediately go for the next lesson, which unfortunately for me is next friday as I will be flying off to Japan for a competition tonight.

I was so focused on the riding the Super 4 as I had to get used to controlling the throttle, that when I changed back to my 2B bike to ride home, I felt a bit underpowered. I should have completed my Class 2A 3 years ago, than can now learn Class 2 instead.

LOL....

Oh well.

If there is anyone that is also taking Class 2A and wants to share this thread, by all means, are welcome to. :)

based on my experience for 2b which i did at ubi,i think there kinda strict...in procedures....

for example e-braking...change leg must check back...

when i took 2a at ssdc, everyone looked at me when i did that...

i found out no need to check back when switching the legs..haha...

I cant really give a comaprison since I have chosen SSDC for both 2B and 2A.

I cant really remember why i choose SSDC for 2B. But I believe that accessibility is one even though I stay in the East, as SSDC is near the MRT.

As for why I choose it for 2A, basically because I work in woodlands and its near for me.

An advantage that SSDC offers is that each practical lesson is 120 minutes, that should provide considerable time to practice, I believe this is 20 minutes more than others.

Just my 2 cents worth.
